Hi everyone! For those you like to plan in advance, WestJet has just posted fares for mid March 2010 which should hit some of the school breaks. You can get a direct flight out Toronto to Orlando on Sat Mar 13 for $680 CDN return.

I made my flight reservations for March Break (I have to go on that week because I teach) on NWA out of Detroit. Cost was only $1180 CDN for all 4 of my family non-stop roundtrip!
Consider the drive to Detroit. It is worth it.

from Toronto, that's an extra 8 hours of traveling time. Uggh.

But if you live in Chatham, I can see the value in doing that.

We go out of Buffalo on spring break. There is no way I would spend nearly $700 a person!!

$680 return??? Northwest has their prices listed for March Break next year at $239 out of Detroit, $285 out of Buffalo through Delta...neither Northwest nor Delta offer the lowest prices traditionally, I would fly out of the states to Orlando....if you are a family of four its costing $2720 to fly, 1156 to fly from Detroit, that is a huge difference!

We flew out of Detroit on Northwest Air this past March break for $185 Canadian and that was booked through a travel agency. $740 for my family of 4 to fly non stop to Orlando. Definitely check around.

We flew out of Buffalo this past March and it was crazy expensive! We are used to the $59 on-way flights on Southwest in the fall. My sister flew out of Detroit and it was much more reasonable. Although I wouldn't drive from Niagara to Detroit to take a flight, we did consider other US destinations such as Cleveland. If it wasn't winter driving, i think I would look more seriously at it but i can't see adding the extra time.

I think we will consider driving next March....talk about adding extra time. Our kids actually asked for it. We used to drive when they were young and they liked it! I can see them liking it for all of an hour and then wishing we could fly. They used to like driving in a caravan with a bunch of families and vehicles. It really gave all the kids time to bond at the various stops and switching around in the vehicles.....I could take a pass, nothing beat a 2.5 hour flight and you are there !!!!

We've been 3 March Breaks, including 2009. We paid $59 or less the first two years and $69 this year from BUF. S

we flew this past christmas for 1000.00 for the 4 of us (dec.22-30) and march break 08 for under 1000.00 for our family of 4 all out of buffalo....
We are planning on march break 2010 also but I can't see me paying more than 1000.00 for our tickets.....just don't see that happening and I would not pay 1.00 more to fly out of toronto .... it is just so much easier flying out of buffalo I don't mind the extra drive cause you make it up with less time at the airport easily.

Maybe I should change the title of the thread to " If you fly out of Toronto and want to save $ book now for Mar 2010". LOL

I just don't see how spending 680.00 now for next march break is saving any money. Paying almost a year ahead and paying that kind of cash is not a deal.
For sure something cheaper will come up, of course nothing is certain but it's not a deal that is for sure.
