March 3,2014 Magic Bahamas cruise

I know we are expecting more snow tonight and tomorrow... A light dusting is what they are saying, but I would rather have NO dusting... It's a sunny beautiful day today. I guess we had better enjoy it here in Nashville. :mickeyjum

I hear freezing rain is on its way for us in southern Ontario.:scared1:
Think I will just hide in my craft room making FE gifts.:thumbsup2
Looking forward to the warm Bahama sun:cool1:

On the Magic and Wonder, outlets are at a premium. Bring a powerstrip or outlet multiplier.

If you did not get Palo or Remy reservations and want them, go to Rockin Bar D on the Magic as soon as you board to get reservations or on a waiting list. I highly recommend Palo and Remy is wonderful also! They do have dress codes that are enforced.

You may use a credit card sized card (such as a grocery card) instead of your stateroom key to keep in the slot that controls the lights. This will keep the electricity flow to your stateroom even after you leave (which can be very important if you need to charge electronics). If you are not charging electronics, please remember to remove the card to save electricity

There is a quiet deck all the way aft on deck 7 on the Magic and Wonder. It's a quiet place to relax in the sun.

Go to the DVC presentation. It's no pressure and they usually give away a $300 stateroom credit.

If you are thinking about doing another cruise in the near future, plan on bringing a deposit for booking your next cruise. There are often special incentives for booking another cruise while you are still onboard. You can list your favorite travel agent and usually get their onboard credits along with Disney's! If the dates you are interested in haven't been released yet, you can also book a "dummy" date and transfer it once the new dates are released. You will still keep all the incentives. If you would like to bring friends or family with you on your next cruise, you can book as many rooms as you have members of your traveling party. You may want to do this before the last night, when lines can become very long at the rebooking desk.

A power strip is an excellent idea; the only outlet is behind the TV (unless they've changed it during the re-imagineering). The rule is, however, no "surge protectors." I don't know why - as an engineer it seems safer to me.

Palo is a must! We were very disappointed in Remy on the Dream. Expensive and pretentious, snooty waiters - an Australian with a French accent? - and, frankly, poor service and only so-so food. That was our experience but others love it. Of course, it doesn't matter for this cruise.

Use any old card and glue a small magnet to the back. You can put it on the back of the (metal) door when you leave and you always know where it is.

The "secret" deck is gone from the Magic now, unfortunately. It was a fantastic place for some quiet time in the sun . The re-imagineering put air conditioning units where the deck used to be.

Go to the DVC presentation (free drinks, too) and give them our name! :)

Booking on board generally gives you a 10% discount, reduced deposit (50%), and sometimes an OBC. You can also add a TA name up to 30 days after the cruise to get their credits, too.

I have never heard of Greensburg. I am originally from Pittsburgh, but moved to Cincy 13 years ago. You guys are doing the back to back? Where are you flying out of? Indy?

Yes, we are doing our first back 2 back :cool1: I'm so excited to see how that works. We are starting with the Feb 28th 3 night. We are flying out of Indy. For some reason we get better rates than flying out of Cincy. Have you found good prices out of Cincy for your flights? We always fly Southwest. Love those Rapid Reward points! :thumbsup2

Thank you for your opinion on Remy. I don't do well with snooty :lmao: We love Palo too.

We have had the WEIRDEST weather down east (NB): freezong cold, ice, tons of snow and now it's plus 7!! My DH is practically in tears over his beautiful backyard rink!! Me... I'm not THAT upset to have a break from ice! :yay:

We are both looking forward to the vacation. I think we will tell the kids before hand as well. Since we are getting excited in the planning and anticipation they should have that chance as well :hyper: x 5!!

When we lived in Cincy we would fly out of Dayton all the time. The flights were so much cheaper and it wasn't that bad of a drive. Especially headed out as all the excitement seems to make the drive faster.

Normally we fly from Dayton, but found a nonstop from Cincy for the same price as Dayton, which has a layover in Atlanta. Dislike atlanta airport so much. Is the FE list closed now? Where is Cheermom? I wonder if she is not doing it?

Hi we are a family that is going on this cruise. Myself, My husband, Daughter (11), Son (9), Daughter (6) and son (4). Plus my mom and dad. Sorry I don't know the acronyms for stuff. Never posted before. This will be our first Disney cruise ever and we are very excited. I would love to learn about the insider stuff that happens on the cruise so we can get the most out of the trip. I have heard about decorating the doors and the fish extenders. Not really sure about the fish things. I don't quite understand it. Hope to hear from others soon!

Hi just joined this group. Never cruised before. Would love to join in on the fish extenders, once I figure out what that is. (:

Here is the best link that details the FE.....

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32651483&postcount=378

There is sooooooo much information regarding the Disney Cruises. Even on this link a few pages before someone has put great things about the DCL and hints for making it even more special.

The FE list closes out on January 20. 6 weeks prior to sail date.

Welcome to the DISboards....

I wondered the same thing. I would have thought by now she would have kicked back on. They may have decided not to sail with us.

Hey There! :wave2:

You can add your information to the spreadsheet via this link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ai0ni3uVNvZmdDMzSVpQZThlQWNRN0FVNmVWOUxSZUE&usp=sharing

or, if you prefer, you may post the information here and we can add it for you:
the stateroom(s) number(s) of those in your party wishing to join the FE (Fish Extender), names (if you wish... some gifts are personalized), their ages (I've seen you've done this for the kids. The adults don't need to share this info! ;) ) and any celebrations or allergies there may be. Don't worry about stateroom placement (fore or aft, etc.) we can add that later.

Nice to see some more people sign up; the more the merrier!! If you look back a few pages you will find the link to the Facebook page if you would like to join that as well though it is not necessary.
As others have said there are LOTS of interesting pages on the DIS boards to help cruisers including one on acronyms :goodvibes (just to get you started DH and DW are huband and wife with DD and DS being daughter and son; the "D" can stand for Disney or Darling depending on how you are feeling at the time!)
Good luck with the planning!

Here is a fun question......

Nothing brightens up our day quite like candy, or cookies. Anything that isn't Disney-candy (that's all we really get on board, and it's just as expensive for us!) would make us love you so much. One time guests made us these little Halloween baggies with British/Canadian candy and a whole bunch of us just cried in the back from the thought. (It's different when you don't see your beloved brands for months)

Quite honestly speaking, the candy we tend to get from the department are cheap hard-candies and tootsie rolls (they don't like to spend much).

-other great things we've received have been.... international calling cards, gift certificates/coupons to places to eat on land, magazines telling us what life's like in the outside world

-A neat idea would be to burn a CD of all the current top music on the radio just before your trip. If there's one thing we're absolutely starved for besides news, it's CURRENT MUSIC. Our internet won't let us download much/we listen to Disney Channel music alll day.

Just please, please don't hand us money. We're expected to hand it to our managers. All of it goes straight to the managers.
*To be used for parties that the management organises, it doesn't go into their pockets.

This makes me excited since it's our first go too and all of the seasoned cruisers on theses boards have given out amazing advice!!! I'm super excited about it... Got another if my FE gifts that I ordered in the mail yesterday... Is it crazy I love them that I want one... Well I've thought that with most if mine but these I got in mind for my teen girls that participate.... I think I may have been bitten by a Disney bug lately, lol!! I can't wait to meet everyone and get out if this cold TN weather.... I've had enough of the feels like 17 degrees:).
