March 3, 2007

Well it is finally here  :Pinkbounc :woohoo: . We should be able to make our Excursion and Palo ressies tonight/tomorrow morning. Who all will be there,....... besides Mark? :confused3

Caropooh & I have a question of you others with almost Teens, are you going to register them in the Teen group or in the 12 yr old group? Alana seems to do better with the younger ones, but if she has someone with her, she does okay with older one too.

Good luck with the ressies tonight guys! I actually broke down last month and added the REAS package to our cruise so we could book early. After watching the DCL dvd and the travel channel special my DH and I really want to experience Palo and have our choice of nights. Plus now I don't have to get him a gift basket.
We have dinner on Wednesday night and brunch on Thursday. We would love to cancel our brunch ressie and have brunch with the group if there is room for two more. I know space is limited though. We are not booking any excursions because our DD4 is not old enough for most of them. We will probably just visit some beaches while in ports. Actually I'm a bit lazy and love to do nothing while on vacation. I have a feeling the sea days will be busier than the port days.
I also booked the Exotic Rasul  . This one is a surprise for DH. :ssst:

Emily, who turned 13 in October dosen't feel like she would be comfortable in the teen group, (as does her parents, who are still trying to come to terms w/ the fact that they have a teenager!!!! :) ) Kaylee will be 10 when we cruise, and so we will try to put them in the same group, I think that they would both have more fun, if they are together. For the most part they get along real well...knock on wood...

Good Luck w/ making your ressies....I meant to call our TA last week, to pay off our trip ...but never got it taken care of,(the only thing we have paid is the deposit we made while booking on board last March) so...I will have to wait for Monday, I'm still not 100% sure what ressies to make...I think as far as Palo's goes, I may just book a brunch. Are you planning several Palo meals????

I'm thinking the spa is a must do on my list as well :cloud9:

I have to ask, "Are there any OU fans amongst us?" DH is a major Nebraska fan, and is taking years off his life right now, as he is coaching the Huskers from the neighbors living room couch....can you say, have another beer??? lol

I'll be anxious to hear how the ressies went....

Brenda

My husband is watching the game right now and his statement was that whoever wins is playing our team - BSU, Boise State University - at the bowl game. And it really doesn't matter who wins since BSU will win the bowl game. But 2nd to that my husband likes Nebraska.

Is Palo that good?

Well, since we hadn't paid in full yet we don't get to book excursions. No biggie. I'm not into Palo and neither is Norm. You all go ahead and enjoy it. As for the Rasul, Rebecca, we did the Sureal one year. I'm not sure if it's the same. Why was there mud on the ceiling?!! .....yep - that's why! But not from us! Enjoy it - the spa treatment was heaven on earth. Skin felt great. I think we'll stick to the Rainforest this year - that was great when we did it. I wish we could get the tiled lounge chair set up in our home. I'd use it all the time.

Anyone going to go to Trunk Bay on their own? Has anyone done research on the transportation on their own yet?

Kim

Kim-thanks so much for the Dis list e-mail. Yes, the rasul is the same as the surial. There are some funny trip report accounts of couples' experiences with it. We also have rainforest passes for the week- looking forward to relaxing on those loungers

I would love to go to Trunk Bay but with the kids I think that a taxi ride, ferry ride, and then another taxi ride would be a bit much. I think I'd be a little stressed about getting back to the ship on time too. We are deciding between Maagens Bay Beach and Coki Beach. I'm leaning towards Coki because of the better snorkeling. Cruisecritic has tons of information on St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

Rebecca

We booked Palo for dinner and brunch,(we weren't able to secure brunch ressies last cruise!) Booked Maagen's Bay for St. Thomas, Anquilla Dolphin Encounter while in St. Maarten and room service for a lot of meals!! DH was totally stressed last time when we ran from excursions to meals! :goodvibes Oh, and I have to get to the Cove Cafe :thumbsup2 , missed it last cruise!
My DS 13, not sure about the stack(Teen Club) he's saying that most of the kids are older, looks like maybe he'll stay with the 12's (he is just having a thirteenth B-day in Feb. before we leave!

Yeah! We've booked Palo's for brunch, dinner & high tea, a couple of massages and the Extreme Excursion package at Castaway -we get to feed the rays :cool1:

We did not book anything for either of the other port of calls - I think we will taxi-it on our own to wherever we decide to go at the time.

Caryolyn and Andrew -- Morgan will be 13 the after the cruise ends and I think feels the same way. She would only be comfortable in the teen group if she knew someone but I think she would think it was way cool to be in the teen group (so long as she fits in). Do you want to try to get the kids in the club together?

I am going to try to get organized enough today to get the final payment in. I have to collect my mom's balance as well as my friend's balance and just haven't asked them for the $$$ yet. I'm just kicking myself for not having it in by 12/2. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Palo and I'm PRAYING there will still be an opening for brunch and dinner. They are both very important to us! I still don't know what spa tx I'm going to go for but I do know I'm buying a pass for the Rainforest. We've done the Rasul (Surial) -- we were glad to have done the tx once but I don't think we'll do that again. The couples massage was awesome though!!!

Kim -- We are also planning Trunk Bay. We booked it during our last cruise but it was cancelled due to weather and I was SO disappointed. I do believe we will try to get there on our own though. I'll PM you with a link that has directions of what some other cruisers did. I'm going to print them out and plan to do them on our own. That takes care of St John and in St Marteen I think we are going to do the Butterfly Farm again. We did it the last time and I would like to do something new too but I will have DD (14 mos at the) so I'd like to do something she would also enjoy. Afterwards I'm going to see if my mom will watch the baby and DH, DD 13, and my friend Tracey would go with me to the beach that has the airport next to it to see the planes come in over the water.

What's everyone else's plan??? And are we going to try to get together as a big group???

~Stacy

According to the countdown clock sitting on my desk at work, we have just 87 days left!!!!!!!!!!! The time is flying by! :Pinkbounc

...as I'm staring longingly at the wallpaper on my computer which is of Castaway Cay..... :)

Disneybride- I think that was our plane there in your pics at the beach!! LOL!! I'll never forget taking off from that airport on our honeymoon. The mountain was directly in front of us on takeoff!! And when we were landing I thought we were going in the water...yeee :goodvibes. That is one interesting beach :3dglasses

Stacy-thanks for posting those links. My DH wants to go to Maho after seeing the video. My DD8 watched it and said NO WAY. I told my DH that he is on his own for that one. That must have been something flying into and out of that airport Indea88.

We may just join you in doing Trunk Bay. I was worried about it taking so long to get there and back but it would be fun to do as a group. Safety in numbers right? I mean the ship won't leave if there is a whole group of us not back yet, right? LOL! I do love to snorkel and all of the pics I've seen of Trunk Bay are gorgeous. Think I'm going to download one for my wallpaper.
87 days!!!

For those of you who don't read the CB:

Great picture!!!!!

Finally sat down to do our reservations.....(better late than never... or not!!!!) I was hoping to do Brunch @ Palo's on thursday, but there are no openings as of now, I did however book the couples massage for Thursday, so yeah for that!!!

Are we still hoping for a Dis brunch on Sunday? That would be a great way to start off the cruise!!!!!

Hope all is well w/ everyone

Have a GREAT FRIDAY!!!!!
Brenda :)

ejkjmom - I just booked a couple's massage (the Couple's Choice) for the Monday - yeah :woohoo: ! Do you know - can you bring champagne or wine or something with you to the spa treatment? :scratchin

Thanks for the tip Melissa..

Just curious...How many plan to dress in pirate attire on Pirate night?? I know that some really get into the spirit of the night while others may choose a t-shirt or just the bandanas they provide at dinner..

And if you are dressing up, are you planning on wearing your outfit to dinner or are you planning on changing after dinner??? Kinda of riding the fence on this one.. thought it would be fun for the girls to get dressed up for it.

And while we are on the subject....how dressy is everyone dressing for formal night??? Any tuxs/evening gowns????

Here is what we will probably look like on pirate night again:

(you can't see, but I have a floral print dress on) so we don't do the complete pirate "outfits" but just accessories. pirate:

For formal night, Mark wore a tux and I wore a cocktail dress (black, knee length) and will probably do so again - but quite a few women do wear full gowns. And MANY little girls (including mine) wear their favorite princess dress. princess:

Actually, wasn't a "tip" but a question - sorry, I wasn't clear - CAN we take champagne or wine to the spa treatment? I think I saw somewhere something about champagne & strawberries, but I can't remember where - anyone know anything about this???

DH and DS will be dressing up for pirate night - I haven't decided if I am or not...

As to formal night...tuxes/evening gowns :rotfl: not quite - DH did wear a nice suit and I did dress up and we will both do so again, but not as formal as a tux and a gown - nevertheless, some people were quite impressive in their attire - it was a fun night :sunny:
