Welcome, Cdaub! Glad to see the group is growing a little.
I know we dont have many people yet who are definitely going on this cruise (where is everyone?) but I want to throw out the idea of a fish extender gift exchange. We did this on our last DCL cruise and it was so much fun. For any folks that might be new to DCL, heres a link to a post that explains fish extenders: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33184281&postcount=2
Basically, its like a secret Santa gift exchange, where everyone who wants to participate brings a little gift to put in others fish extenders. Last time we got items ranging from pencils, postcards, stickers, and candy to intricate homemade crafts. As simple or as elaborate as anyone wanted to get everything was appreciated and it was really fun to see what youd find in the FE every day.
Anyone who'd like to participate please let me know and Ill get a list started.
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say we are so excited for this cruise and meeting everyone. We would love to do the FE too. I've never done one before but it sounds like a lot of fun!
Has anyone received the pin for kids sail free that they mention on the main boards for the 7 day cruises?
Thanks
Hi Everyone!
My family and I will be joining you on this cruise too. I look forward to meeting everyone. I am new to the DIS boards too so I'm still learning how to navigate things. I would love to participate in the fish exchange....sounds like a lot of fun!
I will be the bearer of bad tidings here. I called DCL today to see if the military rates were applied to our cruise and they said yes. Now, we booked in March 2009 and got a rate of about $5500 for 2 adults and 2 kids which includes 10% off and a $200 onboard credit ($5300 out of pocket).
The military rate they offered with identical features as our current reservation: $4700.I was hoping for about $3500. Oh, and we lose the 10% and the onboard credit.
Well, with the economy where it's at and some other unexpected expenses that have come up, that may be the end of our Spring Break cruise. I'm not giving up hope yet, but its not looking good.
Funny you should mention that - I just booked our flights today!Southwest opened its reservations thru early May today so I jumped on them. $346 r/t per person from Vegas to Orlando (and no baggage fees); flights on the other airlines have been running over $400. I think prices may go down a little, especially after the Christmas holidays, but I'm too nervous to wait that long. These SW flights I got are at good times with no plane changes so I'm happy, and I can save all that time I've been spending constantly checking airfare prices!
Just FYI - I started a cruise list and an FE list in post 1 of this thread. (I just listed those who said they'd already booked.) Still a small group, but we're going to have a great time!
