 Whoo hoo! We got our docs today! We're so close...I can smell the Magic now... :rotfl2:

Sigh...will we EVER receive our docs? :(

Thanks for all of the answers and help on my question about the lanyards, plastic pouches, and waterprrof "dryboxes." You guys are great! :goodvibes

gimpeaux did you book through a TA or thru DCL? Maybe your Ta could follow up for you ?

Last night I spend what seemed like hours looking for our DCl water bottle straps after I had got things out for geoff to pack to get ready for his 10 mile hike this weekend. I only found 2, but luckily I know where I can get 2 more..:goodvibes in 2 weeks..

I wish I was boarding the Magic this week, that is what i really want to do
But I am glad that i am boarding the Magic in only 2 weeks , not 2 years or 2 months..

I don't know why i was thinking about this this morning but DH gets a bit paranoid about our having lime green ribbons and the DIS botton on the backpack.. I remembered the words of VetteChick...

vettechick99 said:

"The last thing I want is 4,000 DIS'rs recognizing us as "one of them", wanting to stand in a circle, hold hands and hum Disney tunes."

I sure as hell don't know where he got the idea we do assinine things like that. Why would we hum when we know the words? "

That is too funny!

Hope the 10 mile hike goes well. Where is the troop going? We are going to have really good weather for Wisconsin this weekend. 52 today and maybe 60 Saturday!

Got our docs last night- and yes it was the luggage tags and the boarding passes. Our TA just got them yesterday, so I would call your TA if they haven't called you just yet. This new just in time thing makes her a little nervous as well.

Hi myboysmom... Morning

Geoff is going to Philmont this summer ( it is a boy scout ranch in New Mexico) for a backpacking trip for 3 weeks. So the troop has to get the scouts ready to carry everything they need on their back for 2 weeks in the mountains.

So they are just going in Northern IL for the hike. He has to carry his loaded pack weighing 35 lbs on his back for all 10 miles. I need to get some mole skin for him as he is wearing his new hiking boots. LOL. He is carrying some scout stuff ( sleeping bag et al) , water, pasta and cans of soup..

I am glad that the weather will be good for this. I went with the troop and a few hundred other people on the Lincoln to Springfield hike ( 20 mile hike ) 2 years ago in driving rain.

Philmont! He will love it. I had the chance to go 8 years ago to the training center with my key 3. In my previous life I was a DE for the Madison Council. It was just beautiful. We stayed in wall tents near the Villa and had a chance to hike the trails close to the training center.

Personally, I could never see myself carrying all my belongings on my back (isn't that why God made mules, donkeys and horses? :goodvibes ) but I would love to do a Calvacade. The sky was amazing and the sunsets were a close second to Key West (I got to go to Sea Base too). If your son likes to cruise he should talk his troop into Sea Base. Now that is a high adventure you could sign me up for!

DS 12 is looking forward to the day he can go to Philmont and the Sea Base. He is already planning for the next National Jamboree :)

myboysmom Geoff was at JAMBO last summer. He had a great time. We went to visit him over one of the weekends. It is really impressive. Next year is Boundary waters but Eric maybe doing that one as he will be old enough and Geoff wants to be a counseler at Napawan (just north of you outside of wild rose wi. )

BTW Eric is the Sea Base kinda guy, no rough high adventure for him. His dream vacation this year ( other then the cruise) is to go to all the midwest six flags...

lflynn did you call your TA about your docs? I can do cruise chat tonight.

Soccerfire11 (Emily) and I will try and be there. We'll look and see which room you guys end up in.

Jen :thumbsup2

Cruise Chat is at 8 pm CT/9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT... Chat room 2 if it is free or chat room 3...talk to ya there

Regarding dryboxes, DCL has some onboard that are rectangular with lanyard for $6 - $8??? Pretty reasonable, anyways. They close up with a rubber gasket. They are not transparent, and come in two sizes - one that would fit KTTW card and credit cards, and a slightly larger size. They do have the DCL logo on them.

DW talked to our TA today. Our docs were sent from Florida on Wednesday by regular mail, so should arrive Monday. :woohoo:

We started out with late seating and wait-listed ourselves for early. A couple of weeks ago, after reviewing some threads on that subject on the DIS boards, we decided we would actually be happier sticking with late, so today DW asked the TA to call DCL to drop the request for early. He did so, and found out that our request to switch to early had already been granted! When our TA asked that we be moved back to late, the CM at DCL said it was too late to do that, but that she would e-mail the people in charge of dining on the ship to let them know we'd like to move to late, and we just need to check after we board. From what I've read, it is a lot easier to move to late than to move to early, so I don't expect a problem. I suppose the moral of the story is, be careful of what you wish for because you might just get it! :rolleyes1

After all that, we asked if the CM could express a preference in that e-mail for the 8:00 time of the late seating. The CM told our TA that there is no staggered/scattered dining on our cruise (that is, no division of early seating people into three groups whose starting times would be 5:30, 5:45, or 6:00, and no division of late seating into 8:00/8:15/8:30). That's the same thing jcuzzort1026 heard from DCL a week ago. I think if that's the case, all early seating will begin at 6:00 and all late seating will begin at 8:30. (We didn't have the TA confirm that with DCL.) In any case, I have a feeling that it won't be too tough for people to move from one seating to another if they request it right after boarding.

My grandparents have not received their docs yet, either. :confused3

We received our docs yesterday. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited that we're really going in less than 2 weeks.

DH called DCL to request the 8:00pm seating and was told that they would place the request and we would know at check in. I am reading many mixed things about the staggered seating this cruise. Perhaps you should still call DCL next week and ask to be placed at 8:00. They may not know if they are staggering the seating until the last minute on this cruise :confused3

Got to go try on my formal clothes now... :wave2:

By the way, could someone review the location of the DIS meet at the Sail Away Party. I think that I can find you all, but we've never been on the boat. What time do you all anticipate being there and when do the festivities actually begin?

Whoo-hoo! Post 500 on this thread!

Today's weather made me ready to cruise -- sunny and in the upper 60s. First day of the year to put the top down on the convertible! :cool1:Of course, being Chicago in March, the forecast for Wednesday is 35 and snow....

I think we agreed the DIS meet would be on Deck 10 right after the life vest drill on the side by the terminal. The drill ends by about 4:30 and the sailaway party starts at about 5:00, so I assume we'll meet up right after we've all gone back to our rooms to put away the lifejackets from the drill. Is that right?

Here's a picture of Deck 10. Where on here will we be meeting LESS than 2 weeks from now? party:
