March 24, 2012 - 6 Night Western

Can't believe we are only four months away....

My in-laws and their daughter and family are coming, so we need to add two more to the FE list (if possible).

In one cabin, they are Sandy (67) and Debbie (52) Hardee.

The other cabin is Tania Cameron (28), her boyfriend Josh (33) and his daughter, Emma (8). Emma will be celebrating her birthday while on the cruise!

We don't know our room numbers yet as we all are a GTY.

Also, on the spreadsheet, our son Harrison is listed as a girl, so if it could be possible to change, that would be great. If not, no biggie...

Thank you for organizing this for everyone!

Some in our family group are uncomfortable with putting their stateroom numbers online here. Does anyone else have any concerns with the safety aspect of having their staterooms listed where anyone can see it? Just curious what everyone's opinions are so that I can discuss it again with my family. :confused3

I agree with everyone's comments too. The first cruise we did the FE I was uncomfortable with giving out our names too. We just distinguished ourselves as DM (Disney Mom), DF (Disney Father), DD (Disney Daughter), and DS (Disney Son). Made us feel better. We also just gave a general age for the kids (under 10 or over 10). As you can tell, we now feel comfortable giving their names for the FE. The kids made friends with other DISers, so sometimes we run into some of them on cruises. It's kind of fun! Your comfort level is up to you. We'd love to have your cabins join in the fun, but only do what you feel comfortable doing.

Thanks for the breakout chernabogfamily. Have you decided when to close the FE sign up?

Happy Thanksgivin!

I was thinking we would probably all want to close the FE around 2 months out, but I'm open to any other suggestions. I am going on a cruise towards the end of Dec and we just had 2 people want to join our FE about 2 weeks ago. So, I will take any suggestion from y'all. Especially those of you that are crafty and making your gifts. When do you want to close it?

I added your in-laws and family to the list and changed your son's info (so sorry about that).

Just let me know your stateroom numbers once you find out what they are. Glad to have your family join us!

I think 6 - 8 weeks is a good time to close the FE exchange as it gives everyone time to get their gifts (whether bought or handmade) ready and to have an accurate head count.

Any other thoughts?

8 weeks sounds good, that way we know the exact number, since we are splitting it up. The cruise is almost sold out, so there shouldn't be too many late comers.

8 weeks out from the cruise would be the last weekend of January.

So, let's make the official FE close date January 28th. That gives everyone who is still undecided plenty of time to think it over and gives a good time period to complete all the FE's. Thanks everyone.

Trying to stay warm with hot chocolate today, dreaming of 117 more days....:cool1:
(If I'm not too late for this, my daughter's fav character is Minnie. Thank you!)
Sorry I'm not on facebook : (

Hi Everyone

Double Digits whoo hoooo, its been a while since I posted, sorry!

My husband and I have given it careful consideration, and have decided to opt out of the Fish Extender, I hope that is ok with everyone.

DCL confirmed the theme nights for our cruise, which was basically what we all thought:

2nd night - Formal Night
4th night - Pirate Night
5th night - Semi-Formal Night

I thought I had joined this group when we booked our cruise way back when, but now that I have actually started planning, I realized I hadn't.

So, me, DH, and DD will be on this spring break cruise and celebrating DHs and DDs birthdays. This will be our 7th Disney Cruise (well, DDs 6th, but don't tell her ;) ) but first on the Magic. DH and I have done a Western Caribbean cruise on another cruise line WAY back when, but this will be our first with Disney. Hoping the waters on CC will be warm enough to enjoy ( we have cruised earlier in March before to find the water pretty cool).

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

PJ

what is semi formal night?

Based on the dress code, I thought every night was semi-formal, except for formal night!

Most nights in the dining room you will see everything from shorts and T-shirts to dressy casual. Semi-formal night is the cruise line asking that you lean more toward the dressy casual, but no matter what you wear, you will not be turned away (except at Palo). I have seen shorts on formal nights.

Welcome, PJ. :woohoo: Those are adorable pics!
We can't wait-- first cruise ever for me & DD! Now that we're within 100 days, she is celebratin' with daily countdown 'notes' from characters, etc. Haha. Bring on March!

While catching up on this thread, I saw someone asked about what the Magic might be doing after our cruise. I was wondering too so looked it up. I was surprise to see the Magic continuing to cruise out of Port Canaveral into May. I guess I expected once the Fantasy arrived that it would head north immediately, but looks like they will be shuffling 3 ships in FL until the end of May.

Still couldn't find anything about a reposition cruise from FL to NYC but looks like it should happen around May 25-28.

We are getting excited. Unfortunately, we too, have decided to opt out of the Fish Extender. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Being a silver Castaway Club member my 90 day booking day is none other than Christmas. With all the preparations for Christmas I haven't figured out what excursions we should do. Decisions, decisions... :confused3
