March 22-29, 2008 - Here Before You Know It!

Looks like quite a few of us are good to go. Booked air fare the day fares were released. Thank goodness because flights are now 3 times what I spent, and I spent about $75 dollars more than I normally would to go to Orlando. Booked pre-cruise hotel nights with Marriott points, so we're set.

Just got back from WDW last week and picked up the DCL rocks glasses at the outlet. DH and I can now enjoy our adult beverages and get in the mood for the cruise. Saw several things at WDW that I thought might be nice for the cruise, so I'm scouting around here, and if I don't find them will pick them up when we're back at WDW in October. Girls picked up a few things for Pirate Night. If anyone needs anything let me know and I can pick it up when we're there in Oct.

Hi everyone!
My name is Melissa but I go by Lissa. Me(29) and my mom(59) and my brother(27) will be sailing with ya'll on the Easter cruise. We just got back from our first ever Disney cruise in the Med and are really excited about the upcoming one. We are flying down early the day before and staying at WDW with DVC points. Can't be that close and not at least see EPCOT. We are in a cat 6 gty booked while we were on board. Oh and we are all adults though soemtimes you wouldn't know it. Looking forward to relaxing on the ship especially after the med cruise. We only plan on doing one excursion to the Mayan ruins and of course playing on Castaway cay. And yes just ask any on the disers that were on the ship with us I get very excited and talk alot. Can't wait to get to know ya'll over the next few months.

Welcome, welcome! :)
I'm a Melissa too but my 1st grade teacher nicknamed me Missy!

My brother give me the nickname Lissa. It started because he could not say my name and it just stuck.

Well so much for having a fun trip. Just checked the spring break for the school year and they moved it away for Easter. So we will have to reschedule for this summer. Looks like we will be going to the Mexican Riveria instead. Hope ya'll have a good time.

Lissa

Hey everyone! this thread has been kinda quiet, and we're coming closer to the departure!

Gimpeaux:
I was reminiscing and looking at our group's trip reports and enjoyed re-reading yours. (incidentally, if any of you are doing your first DCL western, Gimpeaux report is excellent, though truncated):

Gimpeaux: did you ever finish your report? I was most interested in how you got better servers?

I believe we've just passed another milestone. We cruise 6 months from today! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hello Everyone,
Wanted to add my name to the list of dis members that will be onboard for Easter! My DH, myself, 2 DS (11 and 8), plus my inlaws, sister inlaw, and her two DD (13 and 4 turning 5 on the cruise) will be sailing. We are on deck 6 all the way up front. This will be our second Disney cruise, but our first on the Magic...I can't wait!:cool1: Thanks to MN DIS FAN for pointing me to this thread!

Hi Akarts, Welcome aboard! :welcome:
Our cast consists of me the DH, DW, and 2x DS's. They will be 10 & 12 at the time. They love DCL, almost as much as their old man!

I am pretty sure we are finalizing everything today..

Soon as my beloved wife..:surfweb: Decides on a cabin..

How many days til March :cool1:

Hi HFC1969
Did you get everything finalized?
Welcome aboard :welcome: if you did!
5 months and 1 day before we leave, but who's counting? I am! :rotfl2:

It's been real quiet over on this thread. Have any of you all started making any plans yet?
I've got our airline / car rental / accommodations all set for the cruise. I've also got a pretty good idea of what we're thinking of doing at our various port stops. I just need to run it all by my boss, aka; she who must be obeyed.

I'm also still looking for some pen pals for my 2X DS's (they will be 10 & 12 when we cruise) They are DCL experts and would like to make some new friends.

Paul

My husband looks at me funny when I speak of "the plans"! However, we have decided that we will be driving down (we usually do this instead of flying). We live near Philly so it is a straight shoot down 95. This also lets me pack a little "heavier"...yes I am an overpacker!;) I know I want to see the southern most point in Key West, along with the pirate museum, and the yummy key lime treats. We've done Grand Caymen on another cruise ship years ago, but the kids want to see Hell and the turtle farm. I want the rum cakes and some beach time. I've also done Cozumel before, but found a cool excursion with dune buggies...that will be an adult day. I'm trying to figure out what day for PALO...I didn't get there last time I cruised with Disney. I was thinking Thursday for dinner. :groom: What is everyone else doing?

We also want to see the "Southernmost Point" just to say we've been there. I think we'll take the Conch Trolley. I think this is the one that has like 8x different stops you can get off at. We'll probably do the Hemingway Museum, and perhaps another museum or so. Key Lime Pie MMmmmm! My favorite. I'm sure we'll be trying some of this there as well.

Hopefully, the various things to see will be open as we will be there on Easter Sunday. I've now seen several threads querying the Easter "issue", and it seems the general consensus that things will be open. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

We're looking at doing the Jeep tour in Cozumel. This will get us a bit of education, as well as a bit of beach time.

I think our general consensus for the Caymen's will be seven mile beach for the day.

MN Dis Fans: In all of our planning, we knew Easter would occur on our cruise, but never considered until your post, a possible effect at Key West.

Moreover, I had been doing some cking with Disney on extending our stay from just 1 night pre-cruise to 2 nights. I was perplexed by so many things being sold out. duh... didn't think through until now that it was just days before Easter...!

Hi everyone! My DH, DD11 and I just went to WDW in September and my DH got so excited about the cruise line info he got he talked me into it! This is our first cruise and there is so much to learn about! My biggest worry is getting sea sick :scared:

Hi, I'm Kathy. I'll be cruising with my DH Ted and our DS Owen (9 at the time of sailing) and our DD Amy (6). We'll be traveling with 2 other families. There will be 7 kids in our group, 5 boys and 2 girls.

My family has cruised on DCL many times. We did the Transatlantic back to back with the 1st Mediterranean in May. After spending 25 nights onboard the Magic a week will really seem to go by fast.

Neither of our friends have cruised before so we're really looking forward to showing them a good time.

We did this same cruise in July 2005 and had a blast.

We look forward to meeting everyone.

Did everyone else get a package from DCL recently? We got (3) of them two days ago - we have (2) rooms booked but not sure why they sent us three?? My SIL/BIL are booked as well and did not receive the package - which seems strange to me. All it included was a letter telling us on what date we could start booking extras and then there is a packet with about 6 or 7 mini-books with cruise info. We haven't cruised DCL in 3 years and this was something new...sort of fun. I am so looking forward to this vacation!!!:goodvibes

Ok.. guys... we are finalized...

Welcome Brendat22, littleowensmommy, Susan bee and HFC1969!
We have 2 rooms, and strangely only received one packet last week. Since it is just information (plus those important) deadlines, we weren't going to trouble DCL for the MIA packet.

To ALL of you: I urge you to know your first date that you can make Palo reservations and get up in the wee hours and make them. (It's been 2 years for us, so you'll have to ck the main board for the actual time ... i think it used to be midnight eastern time....)
