March 22-29, 2008 - Here Before You Know It!

Hi there, gang! Hadn't been on DISboards in quite a while, so just discovered the thread about the March 22-29 cruise tonight and read all 24 pages in one fell swoop... But most importantly: We're coming as well! We'll be in 6512, and it sounds like several other will be on Deck 6 as well.

This is our first cruise, so as you can imagine we're quite the excited newbies. (We being DW Missy, DD10 Corinne and DD12 Paige.:grouphug: )

It sounds like lots of DIS kids like to know that there are other kids their ages going and hope to meet once we're on board, so if you haven't left yet, please tell yours that ours will be on board. We'll try to be at the meet-up...

Sadly, we learned of the fish extenders too late, but maybe next time. We may at least try to decorate a bit. To those with health issues, family members staying behind and the rest, my thoughts are with you all - we have some experience with that as well, and simply wish you the best.

May the wind be at our backs, the sails full (if we had any), and the seas calm!

Time to pack...

Charlie Z

Day 4 - Shipwreck & Reef Snorkeling
Day 5 - Cozumel Ruins & Beach Tour & 9 PM Palo Dinner
pirate: (Forgot about Pirate festivities that night... when do they take place?)

Hi Charliez: Welcome aboard. My DW's also a Missy, go figure! Looking forward to seeing you on board. We leave in just over 12 hours! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi Charliez!!! Welcome. We are newbies also!!! This is our first cruise!!! look forward to meeting you on saturday!!!!!
We are pulling out of the driveway in 10 min!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO:dance3:

Welcome charliez! We're happy to have you and hope to meet you on the ship.

I cannot believe it is finally here for my family--we leave the house in 2 1/2 hrs. (Thankfully, the airport is a 10 min. drive from our house.)

This morning on the treadmill I swear I could "smell" the flowers at Port Orleans French Quarter. In less than 12 hours--I'll be smelling them for real! :hippie:

11 months of planning is finally paying off.

Travel safe everyone. We can't wait to meet you!. :cheer2:

Welcome charliez!

Whamma, we have always stayed at port orleans and love it. Never feels crowded. (We're not staying this time, since DCL arranged and at airport hotel).

For all: pack some ponchos... kinda looking like rain. But we will have a blast.

Oh, I assume most of you know by now that the last cruise had no engine problems.

Thanks, all -- hope we all make it safely to the port!

This just in from the National Weather Service for Chicago:

Tonight: Periods of snow after 1am. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 31. East wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Friday: Periods of snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 35. Breezy, with a east wind around 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Our flight departs Midway Airport at 7 PM tomorrow... Wish us luck!!:thumbsup2

Disney on!

Charlie

:sad2: Can't get him to commit to packing yet...

I guess it's suppose to happen like pixiedust:

We fly out Saturday morning from Baltimore and meet up with the ret of my family at the Port. Or on the transfer to the port; our arrival times are rather close together. Hope DCL knows what they were doing.

We had to cancel yesterday... our son has pneumonia..

There is a Cat 3 now available..

Have a great cruise!

Hi
HFC1969
Hope your son feels better
our plane leaves out of pittsburgh PA at 6:00 P.m. tonight I hope we miss the snow.If any one eles is leave IL Good luck See Ya Soon

Sorry to hear about your son, HFC1969 - hope he feels better soon and that you can work in another cruise sometime soon.

We arrived in Orlando about 10:30 tonight and drove over to the Radisson "Resort at the Port". The big snow storm in Chicago went north of I-55 and left Midway wet but not snowed in... no delays at all!

Tomorrow morning I'll drop DW and DDs at the port and return the rental car, then take the shuttle back. According to gimpeaux'd trip report from 2006, that worked well as his DW was able to check them in and they got an early boarding time.

Time to snooze - see you all tomorrow!

Safe travels -

CharlieZ

Sorry to miss you all at the cruise meet. We can never seem to make it. Have a great cruise!!!

Hi everyone. Hope you had a magical time. We sure did. :cool1: It was nice meeting so many of you on Saturday and seeing many of you throughout the cruise. My dd loved all the fish extender surprises. Thank you so much for making her cruise extra special.

I have one thing to say "Bingo 1, Bingo 2, Bingo Out of Here". I was a single winner at 1 of the games in Final Jackpot Bingo. :woohoo: I wasn't the cruiser that won over $7,300 in the final game but I won enough to cover 1/2 of our shipboard spending. Who needs a casino when we have BINGO.

We arrived home around 7:00 pm this evening and my living room looks like laundry mountain. For this mountain I don't need a fast pass. I went into my bedroom and my bedding wasn't turned down, there was no towel animal and no chocolates. This is so wrong.

Congrats on your Bingo, Jerseybelle. We are still in Tampa until tomorrow afternoon, but we, too, had a magical cruise. We were sorry to see it end, but have some consolation in that we will be back on board in 4 months :woohoo: We also rebooked for next spring break :cheer2:

I will do my best to work up a trip report in the coming days. I always have the best of intentions, but have yet to do my first trip report. It just never seems to get done. :confused3

Hi Everyone--Hi Jerseybelle. So sorry I never met you on the ship but think I know who you were now because I was at the Final Jackpot Bingo. Which game did you win--1,2 or 3? (And where were you sitting?) Congrats!

Yes, we have tons of laundry too. And I'm still feeling like I'm on water--rockin' and rollin' in my head! Hope that passes quickly.

DD and DS say they had the best time ever. It was a fantastic vacation. I have to go back to work today. :sad1: Yuck. And it's supposed to rain 2-3 inches here. :sad2:

Wish on was on the beach at Castaway Cay!! (Did we have the most perfect weather day there or what!??) :thumbsup2

Talk to you all later!

Hello all,

Driving down to port was easy...driving home was so depressing. Not only did we hit MAJOR traffic, but it went from a warm 80 degrees to a cold 30 degrees! Thanks to everyone for the great goodies, the boys are eating all the candy now. Bob and I had a MAGICAL time. He had a chemo treatment about 12 hours before we left but had little effect on our cruise. 2 chemo treatments down and 4 to go! I have to go make dinner now...can't I just order room service?!:confused3 It was great to meet everyone!

Great meeting you too. Best wishes to your husband in his treatments. Here is a little pixie dust. pixiedust:

okay, we got home sunday night. I woke up sick on saturday (i'm still sick). DS and DH had to keep each other company on the 18 hour drive home as I was loaded up on cold meds!!!!!. I so want to get back on the ship. I looooooved it. Our family has been turned on to a new way to vacation. DS wants to cruise again asap. DS missed the rides a wdw so i guess we will try to do a 3/4 day split next time. We loved Castaway cay, and we all have the sunburn to prove it!!!! I could spend a week at castaway!!! DS loved the fishextenders. He ate a lot of the candy in the car on the way home (i was sleeping). I really enjoyed meeting all of you!!!
