March 2021 Trip (need advice)

We are headed to Orlando for our first trip to Universal
Me, hubby and 13 yr old son
Flying in 3/30/21
We have cabana bay booked 4 nights
Check in 3/21/21 and out 3/25/21
(3 park) 4 day park to park ticket

My biggest concern right is how crowded it will be and wondering if we need express passes.

I thought about just purchasing a season pass in order to get the room discount and move to another resort that include passes .
We will be in Orlando the upcoming Christmas Day ( no room needed) so guessing I could use our season pass then? Then for our March trip and then again before 12/25/21.

You can book the AP hotel rate before you actually have the AP in hand. So go ahead and book any appealing AP rate you find, as they do sell out.

You'll want the Preffered pass due to blackout dates. It is $394 for 2 park (I think it was about $100 more for 3 park). If you have 2 separate trips planned, it should be cheaper to do APs than buy 2 sets of tickets. More so if you get in the 3rd trip. And more so if you stay on site with discounted hotel rates.

The Preferred AP also gives you free parking and food / merchandise discounts which will add up over a few trips.
