March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

Happy Birthday Lidian!!!:bday:

:rockband: I brought our band to sing you the Happy Birthday Song. :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday Liddy... Sorry I missed it on FB - sometimes I remember to look and sometimes I don't.

It sounds like you had an irritating birthday - but I am glad for you that you got to see your bestie. :)

Thanks, D! :flower3:

It started off irritating, but it got better in the end. I never expect much on my birthday ... just not having to cook and a cookie cake. :lmao::rotfl2:

Since life has been crazy, I'm going to knock out a couple of updates. This one will be quick, but it was requested months ago. (Okay, so last month.)

Here is the machine. She's not officially named. :lmao: She hates me, and she spends a lot of time in time-out.

I have completed three hipsters and several wallets on her. Right now, my tree is in her spot, but will pick up with more crafts after the holidays. I plan to make some Christmas decorations when the fabric goes on sale. I also want to make the kids some PJs. I have an easy pattern (or so it says), so willing to give it a shot. But it requires elastic, which I've not worked with yet. (Okay, so I've not worked with anything but thread and fabric. :lmao:)

Anyway, the last purse I tried to make, I did a panel, set it aside to rip the seams out, did the other panel, set it aside to rip the seams out ... so I spent just as much time ripping as I did sewing. But it's done and it looks good. My aunt will be happy (it was a gift for her birthday -- which was yesterday, the day after mine). I was named for her (we share the same middle name) since our birthdays are so close.

Anyway ... once she has a name ... I'll use it. :thumbsup2

WOW...if you only spent the same amount of time ripping as you did sewing...you are doing GREAT! I find it takes much longer to rip than to sew!

(in quilting it takes an hour to rip out 5 minutes worth of stitching!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIDIAN!!!! So sorry your birthday was so frustrating. I have had those too. :sad2: Cute sewing machine, even if she is a moody one. :lmao:

This is one of the few parks that DH absolutely enjoys. Sure, there's things he doesn't care for within the park, but he has Must Dos here!!! So this is probably the best family park, in our household, that is.

DHS is open 9:00 - 8:00 and TP rates it as a 3.0 -BEST. I'd love to be at the park as close to opening as possible. We'll make the TSM dash then probably head over to ST. If the line isn't long, we'll ride. If it's long, we'll keep walking and come back later.

No ... scratch that. I'll send DH to get TSM FPs and then I'll take the kids and sign them up for JTA. YUSS! That's what I'll do. (Who needs the backspace button.)

Okay, so ... arriving EARLY ... DH doing TSM dash (because he loves us, right?) and I'll take the kids for JTA. Has anyone done this before that can explain the process to me? I know where it's located, just not sure what we do other than stand in line. Do they have to have SW knowledge or anything? :confused3

Anyway ... okay, after FPs and JTA, we'll check out ST, or Muppets 3D. Muppets is a must do for DH (and for the whole family). But DH threw a fit in April when it was closed. I told him for months that it would be under refurb, but does he listen? No. So when we arrived and he started steering us to Muppets .... I thought he was going to burst into tears and have a full-on melt-down.

Anyway ... we have no set order on what we do ... but things we definitely want to see:

ToT -- :scared1: I'll be the mom standing in line crying.
RnRC -- a fave of DD and myself
Magic of Disney Animation -- hoping to see some characters and do the character drawing; it was awful last year and missed the drawing
Disney Junior Live -- for DS5
TSM -- because I have to have a higher score than DH, right?
LMA Stunt Show -- for DH -- since he was really into it last year; but if he says he doesn't want to, then we'll skip it
Great Movie Ride -- I just love this ride! And the queue!
Indiana Jones Stunt Show -- a must do for DH; hopefully he'll get picked as a volunteer; he actually tried last year!!!
ST -- a family favorite! We will plan to ride this multiple times!
Muppets -- another family favorite!
JTA -- fingers are crossed! DS will love this; he's really getting into SW; DD might enjoy it, who knows. :confused3
Street characters -- they are so fun to watch!
Pixar Pals -- well, this is kind of a maybe; we've yet to see the DHS parade, so I'd like to see it once ... but not upset if we're busy
Disney Channel Rocks -- this is all for DD; the boys will probably find something to get into while I sit with DD to watch

I'm very sad that Studio Backlot Tours and HISTK playground will be closed! I mean, seriously, both things? That's just cruel. Let's not even mention that BTMRR is down.

Okay ... back on track. I mentioned ST multiple times, right? Check.

FOOD!

Okay ... so we'll probably do lunch at Backlot Express (it's our favorite), but haven't ruled out ABC Commissary, Studio Catering, and Pizza Planet either. We've only ever tried Backlot, and we love it, so it's hard to try new places. If anyone has insight on the others, feel free to share!

For snack, come heck or high water, I'm eating a cupcake at Starring Rolls! (Okay, so this isn't outside the question for lunch either.) I haven't decided what kind of cupcake to go for though ... but it's what I want, so making sure I get one!

For dinner, we'll enjoy 50's PTC at 5:55pm! I'm looking forward to licking my bowl clean again:
Disney2011pictures058.jpg

Not to mention ... dessert!
Disney2011pictures063.jpg

DD is excited to order off an adult menu. Well, she'll be ordering off adult menus all week, but all the menus are at CS places. :lmao:

This year, I'm hoping for some antics by the servers. Upon check-in, I'll be requesting a playful server. I want someone to go to time-out! Maybe they'll find DS a girlfriend. DH can't keep his elbows off the table ... maybe he'll get some ketchup. I'll even be okay if I get in trouble, so long as it's captured on camera! :thumbsup2

But there's also another surprise I have this day ....

At some point during the day, our friends Kouga and Akki (this is their WoW names), will be joining us. Kouga and Akki are FL residents. They live about 1.5 hours outside of WDW, so will just drive. They have no set times in the life, so they'll show up when they show up. :lmao: We expect to see them around lunch time, maybe after. They'll call when they arrive and we'll meet up. Kouga is much like DH and will only ride select rides. Akki will join DD and I on ToT and RnRC (so will probably wait for Akki before riding ToT, so I'll only have to ride it once).

Oh... Kouga and Akki are World of Warcraft (WoW) friends. We've played with them in game for many, many years. We met up with them at EP last year and had a BLAST! DH was about to get stomped on (by me) when they showed up and turned his mood around. I enjoyed hanging around them, because they made every attraction better. It's like being in my own version of MST3K, with the banter and such.

Not sure if they'll join us for dinner (hoping so, but their finances may not allow it).

I don't know if we'll see F! or not. I'd like to, but if DH isn't up for it, then the boys will go "home" and the girls will enjoy F! If Kouga and Akki want to see F!, then DH will see it. Yeah, he's weird like that. "OMG my besties want to see it, I want to see it now, too, even though I said I hated it!" :lmao:

Anyway ... I think I covered everything. I feel like I've missed something.

Enjoy some previous DHS pictures!

OH!
Disney2011pictures021.jpg

Seeing P&F is a MUST DO! They arrived on the day we left in May. So we HAVE to see them! Other M&Gs will just be if lines are short. Well, we may have to see Cars as well.

I've never done quilting... yet. :lmao: And I'm a VERY slow sewer. Mom is all, pedal to the floor. I'm all ... ZOMG it's going too fast! :rotfl2:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIDIAN!!!! So sorry your birthday was so frustrating. I have had those too. :sad2: Cute sewing machine, even if she is a moody one. :lmao:

Thank you!! :flower3: It's all groovy, ya know? ;)

JTA is AWESOME! All three of my kids did it when we were there in March. I don't think you have to have that much SW knowledge (although my kids and
DH are SW GEEKS to the max! :rotfl2:) It was a dream come true for DS to fight Darth Vader. I thought it was a "once in a lifetime" experience for them, but DH has already informed me that they WILL do this again this time too...well alrighty then. It's all good! :thumbsup2 Check out my pics on FB if you want to see my kids in action...

:thumbsup2 Love the photos and your plans for DHS. I must admit I don't really have a touring plan in place for any of our parks. Since it's just the two of us, we'll do what we can do and the only MUST for DHS is going to be Star Tours since we have NOT seen the new version. Other than that, of course we'd like to do TSM and TOT and the rest is gravy...but I'll probably insist on One Man's Dream there as well. I love that movie...:lovestruc

We'll be at DHS the same day. We will probably do Pizza Planet for lunch. Toy Story is one of my DS favs and I like that the pizza comes with salad. We have ADR's for Boatwrights at POR for dinner we might head back to DHS after or make an early night. We have ealy ADR's at Play 'n Dine, Jake is there now and I want to get in early for JTA and TSM. My mom has not experianced the crazyness of either and thinks I'm nuts. I'll send her and DS to JTA and I'll do the TSM run. That's the plan anyway.

Thanks for the pictures Liddy! :) Personally, I like your original name for your machine - it fits her personality perfectly! ;)

And I love your plans for DHS... I'll be in MK that day. Your kids are just adorable. :) Your food pics are making me hungry though... LOL Glad dd is making dinner tonight.

we still have not made it to 50's PT. I love that DD is excited to order from adult menu. I do think that even though my DD is 8 we may have to get her adult ticket because the TS menus for kids are just not enough for her at most places -- last time I had to pick a lot of buffets or places that had an extended childrens menu so she could have more than pizza and chicken nuggets.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, magical holiday!

Check out my pics on FB if you want to see my kids in action...

I'd rather DH sign the kids up for JTA, but I know him too well. He'll see a line and keep walking. :sad2: Odds are, he'll do the same thing at TSM, but worst case scenario, I go grab TSM FPs after JTA sign up. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some of the movies... once.... most of the way through. But I'm not a "fan". I can name some of the obvious characters ... like "Dark Vader" and "the cute little robot named Arty Two". :lmao: Okay, so that's what DS calls them. He was excited to get a "Dark Vader" toy and then when he got R2D2, he called it "the cute little robot". When we asked what it was called, he said "Arty Two, duh!" Yeah... adorable!

Anyway, since your DH is a fanatic, is it safe to assume he's playing SWTOR? What server? My DH is actually playing right now. He keeps offering to gift me a copy for my birthday or Christmas ... but it's just WoW in space to me (since I don't know the lore). :rotfl2:

Did you record the JTA experience? I'd love to see your video if you did! We watched a couple in May, and I watched some online. But very curious about the sign up process. :goodvibes I'll head over to FB and check out the pics in a bit.

I probably wouldn't have a touring plan if it was an adults trip. And honestly, I still don't. I just state what I will and won't do, and estimate when I plan to tackle it. :lmao: The new ST was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it! Even DH gave his approval (and I was worried he wouldn't like it).

Oh, I'll probably wander over to One Man's Dream as well! :thumbsup2

We'll be at DHS the same day. We will probably do Pizza Planet for lunch. Toy Story is one of my DS favs and I like that the pizza comes with salad. If you see us, be sure to say "hi"! We aren't huge pizza people, but it's still an option to consider. I'd kind of like to at least wander into the place and check it out ... even if we don't dine there. My DS loves TS as well, and when I was flipping through the channels to see what was on the other night, he flipped out because I didn't stop on TS2. :lmao:

I wouldn't mind a H&V breakfast with Jake, but none of us are big breakfast eaters.... quick snack to hold us over until lunch and we're out the door. :confused3 And we want 50s PTC for dinner.

Sounds like a good plan!! :thumbsup2

I like my name, too .. but she needs a real one. One I can say. :rotfl2:

You should "come to the dark side" with me ... and ride ST and see if "Dark Vader" makes an appearance. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the compliments. I'm a bit fond of them.

Thanks for the Unbirthday wishes! :flower3:

The purple is the only good thing about her. :rotfl:

How can anyone not be a Muppets fan? :scared1: I was shocked when DH bought the first season of the Muppets show on DVD one day. I didn't peg him for a fan. We've made sure to raise our kids right, they're fans and request to see Muppets 3D each year! You HAVE to see it. If he is that against watching it, tell him to go find a bench or something. It's adorable!

DD hates the kids menu at WDW. DS is fine with it, but that's mostly because that's what he'd order anyway. But DD has more refined tastes, and she is a big eater. Not that I expect her to be able to clean her plate anywhere ... but she usually eats all of her kid meal, plus helps her brother, and nibbles off our plates. Plus, I think most places, she'd rather have a big salad in front of her than chicken nuggets. And with her getting to order off a menu, now I feel bad that most of the places are buffets. :lmao:

I am not a fan, either. I know WAY more about those movies than I care to since my whole family loves them and watches them all the time. :lmao:

Love your DS's names for the characters, so cute!

So, DH actually does NOT play SWTOR...Why? Because he is too CHEAP to pay for the subscription!! :rotfl2:

We did film our kids in the JTA show. Unfortunately, I am not a tech person and have no idea how to link it from our home computer to here... :confused3, sorry!

I only know what DH rambles on about. :lmao:

It's funny ... my DH cancelled his WoW subscription because "we couldn't afford it anymore". Really? And then he spends twice that amount on other video games (each month) to keep him occupied -- not to mention, buys SWTOR and it's monthly subscription. :sad2:

You can upload videos to youtube or photobucket and just link it like a picture (or just copy the URL and paste it). :thumbsup2 I'm pretty techy ... but I married a nerd and he wouldn't allow me to not be kinda techy. :lmao:

So yesterday, I dunno what happened ... but I felt that I didn't want any of my ADRs and decided to re-do them all. I guess it was because of the updated 2012 DDP brochure. If you haven't seen it lately, check it out! T-rex and RFC are definitely on the list! :woohoo:

So I really wanted to try T-rex, and possibly go back to RFC ... but ... I was worried about DS. When we went to RFC in 2009, he hid under the table. Every year we pass by RFC, he gets a bit antsy. I worried that it traumatized him. :confused3 He's already terrified of dinosaurs, he has issues going through DinoLand at AK. I showed him videos of both places and asked if he'd like to eat there ... he said he'd love to, but I worry that we'd show up and he'd flip out. So I kept Tusker House, because he adores Donald. I was just excited about getting away from the food at TH ... because it worries ME! :rotfl2:

I also reconsidered GG. And honestly, it may get changed. DH mentioned Akershus or Biergarten ... so ... maybe.

Right now, I have made NO changes to my ADRs. But I am confessing that I freaked out a bit yesterday. :lmao: We have sooo many buffets, I'd kind of like to move away from some of them.

Okay, if you wanted to drop a buffet, which one would you drop and what would you pick up instead? A reason would also be helpful. :thumbsup2

Crystal Palace (dinner)
Tusker House (lunch)
1900 Park Fare (dinner)
Garden Grill (dinner)

-- We also have 50s PTC dinner and a Kona breakfast, which are our only "menu" options.

I'm honestly torn on the buffet ... it's a great way to sample LOTS. And that's what we do, we sample items (not get servings). But I always leave buffets feeling... not-so-well. I dunno if I overeat, or if it's something to do with the foods, or what. I just hate going to buffets around town, as I usually get  afterwards. Granted, I didn't have an issue at Biergarten last year, and I pigged out ... so it could be a "food safety" issue locally. :confused3

What would you do? :confused3

Personally, the only buffets we will do at Disney are breakfast. We are NOT fans of the lunch/dinner food at Disney's buffets (H&V was horrible, Chef Mickey's was fair, and we were very unhappy with Biergarten in 2009.

I love that you are going to Kona...a new favorite of ours.

I can't comment on T-Rex or RFC as we've never eaten at either one. We did RFC in Chicago and Vegas and were not impressed at all.
