Just found out today the dates of my ds's band trip to march at the MK next year! I'm all ready to start planning.

Step 1 - upgrade my GAD tickets this summer to 10 day non-expiring, preparing for next year.

We're going to Universal this summer but with GAD we're doing one day at the MK and now we can upgrade and maybe do 2 or 3 days at WDW....

Let the planning begin...

We just got a handle on DVC points for a BoardWalk stay in early March, 2011, this will be our 4th BW stay in the last 5 years. We're starting to look for airfare, but it's way too early to put a counter up. 200 plus days is depressing enough, over 300 and it doesn't seem real yet. By the time we get there, we'll have been away for 17 months, so the anticipation level will be high.

We've decided on March due to school schedules/testing/DH's farming needs. Still trying to decide which week. Either Feb. 26-March 5 or March 5-12. Can't make up my mind!! Hoping to get that figured out in a week or so.

Your first week will be slightly less busy that the other, and the first will also probably be ESPN Weekend, we're going from 3/3 to 3/10. Weather is usually pretty good, but somewhat cool this year and last.

Thank you Bill!! The crowds and weather are definitely something I'm considering - though I doubt the weather will be really any different between the 2. The cold scares me!! My kids love to swim, we want to do a water park. I wanted May again, but it's just not working. I keep telling myself - if it's been cool the last 2 years, chances are it will be warm or HOT! A few other factors - Flower and Garden Festival doesn't start until March 4 (would be our last park day if we go the 1st week). We do really like this. Are the floral designs done gradually prior to it starting? Would we get to see some even if we went that first week? Another factor - President's Day. First week would have us arriving (no parks) the Sat. after Pres. Day. That first Sunday would likely still be quite busy, and it would be our first park day. The kids also have a 4 day weekend for Pres Day. So they'd be back to school only 3 days before we'd leave Friday AM to drive down to FL. Oh, and a biggie - DD's bday is March 1! She would like to be in Disney for it, but I think I'm leaning towards the 2nd week. Decisions, decisions.... So blessed to have the opportunity to even "worry" about this!!!

Are the floral designs done gradually prior to it starting? Would we get to see some even if we went that first week?

In March 2009 we saw a very few topiaries in WS in advance of the garden thing, I can actually only remember 2. As for the weather, we've been there 8 of the last 10 years in early March and only 2009 had a few cool mornings, usually it's highs in the mid 70's to low 80s, March has the 3rd lowest rainfall of any Orlando month. I'm not concerned about 2011.

Thanks again, Bill, I just now saw your post. I'm really leaning towards Mar. 5-12. I just think that will work out better for us. Trying to convince DD it will be BETTER to celebrate her bday here at home and school AND get a trip to Disney just a few days later, rather than be IN Disney for her bday and miss out on all the usual celebrating.

So, is this the "official" March 2011 thread?? We need more chatter

We'll (me, DH, DD, SIL, 3 DGC) for spring break 3/12-3/19/11. Keeping our fingers crossed, too, that the weather will not be like this year! Soon will be able to make our reservations at OKW and then it will seem real.

We're going back again next March and hoping to stay at AKL. We've only ever stayed at CBR and I want to try something different. Not sure the exact dates for DS's spring break but it was March 22-26 this year.

OP here...plans changed but we'll still be in FL next March..Disney from March 28-31 and Universal after that.

We are on the DCL 4 night crusie, leaving Feb. 27. We hope to be at WDW a few days before and 1 or 2 days after. According to one of the crowd predictors, the week after our cruise should be less crowded, but that week-end is the Princess Half Marathon--how does that impact the parks? ESPN week-end sounds busy, be we may not have a choice. It will just be dh and myself.
