MARCH 2011 : My First Trip As A "Grown Up" ( now w/pics )

Hey boys and girls! It's time for part 8 of...

DISNEY...PAST...SATURDAYS!

(meant to be read in the slow sounding Muppets Pigs in Space voice)

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe that this is the year! Usually every New Years day, I feel a little down. It's like... *sigh* well, another year...another year. But this year I actually have something to look forward to. 74 days until I leave this rock! Woot! :yay:

Anyway, my favorite character is Mulan. We both feel like we have to put on a front to be accepted by the world sometimes, and so many of the lines in Christina Aguilera's version of "Reflection" ring true to my own life. I know it sounds dumb but eh, it is what it is. So in this segment, I am going to post all my photos relating to Mulan.

Disneyland. You don't see Shang anymore! So sad...

Disneyland. I seriously ALMOST bought this doll.

Pretty much the ONLY Mulan merchandise (other than a pin or two and a figurine) I found in all of Disney World on my last trip. I bought that (for a friend who liked Mulan) soley because of her image on the can.

A figurine my sister bought in Disney World.

Loved this update! I'm a huge Mulan fan too, she is definitely my favorite. I absolutely love your picture with Shang!!! I am so jealous. He's a pretty good one, compared to the few I've seen at Disney World. I really wish he was around more often too :sad1: And the merchandise selection for Mulan really needs to improve. Tea and one figurine? I think they could do much better than that:rolleyes1
Happy new year!

Happy new year!

Yeah, that was a good Shang! I actually have read that Disneyland's characters look more like the actual characters while Disney World's characters are chosen based on their acting ability. Actually, if I see a character who I think doesn't look like how I think the character should look, I won't take a picture with them because to me, it isn't the real (insert face character here). Just an imposter.

So I realize I didn't do my "Disney Past Saturdays" this past Saturday. Oops!:rolleyes1 Ah well. I had a busy Saturday and didn't have time.

I just going to talk about 3 things I will be or plan on doing for the first time. I am peppering this entry with random photos I found from random people's public Photobuckets and the Google. Yes you read that right. THE Google. :)

1. PRETZEL RODS FROM GOOF'S CANDY COMPANY.

pretzel-rods.jpg

What can I say? In everyone's pictures, they just look so darned tasty! And you get 3 at that! I can't get enough of those new-ish Pretzel M&Ms. Sometimes, that's what I have for lunch. Just Pretzel M&Ms. I figure the pretzel rods must be as delicious as that x 50 trillion and twelve. The perfect combination of sweet and salty. ::yes:: I plan on coating them with white chocolate and I'm not sure what else yet. But OMG I am soo looking forward to it!

2. TOY STORY MANIA.

ToyStoryMania.jpg

We were there in March of 2008 and this ride opened 3 months after we left. I actually am not looking super forward to this ride. I mean, I am excited to try it for the first time but I don't have very high expectations of it. From what I understand, it's not really a ride at all. I think you are basically being carted from screen to screen and expected to shoot at video screens. I was never a big fan of those shooting at things type video games. Even when it comes to the Buzz Lightyear ride, sometimes I would just sit in the vehicle, NOT shoot at anything, and just take in the animatronics as if it were a regular old dark ride.

3. SITTING NEXT TO A STRANGER IN A THE PLANE FOR A LONG-ISH FLIGHT.

:scared1:   :scared: :scared1:   :scared:

Ugh, I am really not looking forward to this. :worried: I was hoping the seating arrangements on the plane would be 2 - 5 - 2 but only the first leg of our journey from Hawaii to California will have that seating arrangement. The rest of the seating arrangements will be 3 - 3. Bleh! Sorry, but I just can't get fully comfortable when sitting by a stranger. I feel I always have to be on my guard about whether or not I am somehow bothering the stranger, or maybe I am somehow encroaching in their personal bubble. What if I want to turn on my light while they are sleeping? Will it anger them? Or what if I have to use the bathroom? I'll have to wake them up from their slumber to get by. Ugh. My sister and I actually got into a discussion over who was going to have to sit next to the strangers on the flights. We worked it out like this::

Leg 1 (Hawaii to California) No strangers!!! :) We are sitting in the aisle and the window.

Leg 2 (California to Florida) I get the stranger and Kris gets the aisle.

Leg 1 (Florida back to California) I get the window and Kris gets the stranger. I LOVE the window seat in the daytime when flying over land. It's a sight I rarely get to see when traveling. Most of our trips have been to just California and all I ever see is ocean. :sad2: Boring! I remember last time while flying home, I saw a wind farm from above and I made a whole big thing about how there was a wind farm below but mom and Kris didn't care because they were tired.

Leg 2 (California back to Hawaii) I get the aisle and Kris, once again, gets the stranger. How did it work out that Kris has to sit by a stranger 2 times? Well last time, on our fight from Georgia to Florida, I had to sit by the stranger while Kris and mom sat together. Luckily it was a short flight and it was just a little kid who didn't encroach on my space (and vice versa). Still, it could have been really bad! :scared1: Kris argued that this was 3 years ago and it doesn't cout but it totally does! :thumbsup2

The pretzel rods are super yummy! My favourite combo is milk chocolate and crushed peanut butter cup. Yum yum!

Toy Story Mania is so much fun! Just make sure to get there at rope drop to avoid a long wait and to get a fast pass before they run out!

Oh, it TOTALLY counts!!:thumbsup2 I'm with you on the stranger thing..:snooty: don't like, nope not one bit!! But I'm lucky because I never have to sit with a stranger...Southwest planes are 3 seats aisle 3 seats. So I sit with DD's and Ferb is stuck with 2 strangers:scared1:. He's okay with it thankfully, and I can't imagine not sitting with my 10 and 6 year old girls ...I think it would make me nervous. I still have to hold both of their hands during take off and landing..they don't need it, I do!!;)

I like Toy Story Mania a lot. I don't like shooting games at all at home. As for Buzz, I enjoy the concept, but get frustrated that I can't see where I'm aiming, especially since I can't aim to save my life. :rofl

However, I found TSM VERY entertaining. With the 3D glasses you can see exactly where you are shooting, and everything is themed like mini games. Hope you like it! :)

Sounds good, except I think I would get mine with white chocolate drizzle. I love white chocolate!

Thank you for agreeing with me!

Ugh, the guns at the MK version of Buzz are definetley a poor design. The Disneyland ones are better b/c it's actually like a gun that you can hold and aim at eye level. It makes things a lot easier.

Hey all! No I'm not dead. I've just been preoccupied with other things...haven't really been thinking too much about my upcoming trip. But that's good, b/c it's when you're not thinking about it that time goes by faster. Man, I can't believe it's already February! 1 and a half more months! It's almost here! :thumbsup2

My sister doesn't have a DIS account but she periodically looks on here anyway. She's a lurker I guess. Every so often throughout the week, she will ask me, "did you update yet?" Or else she will say, "I see you haven't updated. Why not?" I told her she should just make an account and do the updating for me but alas, she won't.

I still haven't gotten around to calling the Magical Express people yet. I really need to get on that. Also, I have to go buy some new shoes. The ones I have are really old and not suitable for long periods of walking. But I need to get the shoes NOW so that I can break them in before Disney. Sore feet is no fun! Oh darn, and I still need to get around to figuring out how Photopass works. I know there is some sort of pre-order deal right?

Last week Tuesday on my way home from work, I stopped at the Home Depot to pick up some Lime Green Mickey Heads! I have no idea how I am going to use them but I have them! Maybe I'll try to get them laminated somewhere and make bag tags for my sister and I.

I can understand being too busy to update.

Your sister definitely needs to get a Dis account and join all us crazy Disney people! ;)

Love your PTR, it is soooo fun! My family will be staying in an All Star Music family suite March 6-12th. I love your "past" pictures. Funny thing too, is that I filled out your survey on another March PTR! :rotfl: Anyhoo, I will be following now...

Glad to hear your not dead! lol I actually haven't been thinking about my trip that much either, it really does make the time go by faster! I think I will also make a LGMH tag for my bag too. I went a little overboard one day and took about 85 mickey heads from home depot so I need to find as many ways possible to use them up...:rolleyes1 lol

I know right? I guess she doesn't want to get sucked in to all the madness. It would be awesome to have a co TR writer.

Wow, awesome to hear my survey is still going around! Do you happen to have the link to where you did the survey? I would love to check it out.

Ha! I actually wanted to take a lot too but I felt like the dudes who worked in the paint area were staring at me b/c I sure was lurking by the Mickey paint samples for a long time. I know they were free but I still felt like I had to sneak them out. Somehow I felt like I was doing something illegal by taking so many!

I filled it out on another March PTR..."This PTR nees a name!!!" b Ash-n-Brensmom. She gave you credit for it, but at the time I had not yet found your PTR.:upsidedow OKAY- I am such a DIS newbie that I cannot even figure out how to properly quote!!! UGH!

Oh my gosh, where has the time gone, it is already March! I am finally getting off this rock in 14 days! Woot!

My computer has been giving me major problems. It's been doing this thing where it shuts down every 10-15 minutes. I think it might be a video card problem but I haven't gotten around to taking it in to get fixed. I've gotten fed up with it and haven't really been on the computer at all...thus the lack of updates and general dead-nosity. Today I got lucky and it's been on for 2 hours without shutting down. Luck is on my side!

So I got some Mickey Mail on Saturday.

My Magical Express stuff came in! Yesss! I actually only called it in last Tuesday so I was worried that my lateness in calling would some how cause the ME stuff to not come. I am confused though...I thought that Pop Century was in the MGM Studios area? Why does it have the Animal Kingdom Letters?

I made my packing list on Sunday. Tomorrow is my day off so I'm going to go to Walmart to pick up some stuff.

:cool1: :woohoo: :dance3: YAY!!! You only have 14 more days!!!! :cheer2::banana:  :yay:

As for the AK, I have no idea. :rotfl:
