March 20, 2004

Oh, Marilee, that's awful. How upsetting and sobering for all of you. A true reminder to celebrate and live fully today, as we never know what tomorrow will bring.

One more Saturday down....only 3 more after this weekend that are leaving Port without all of us onboard. My packing pile is getting bigger and taller....oooooh I can't wait to start putting all of it into bags and then closing them up.

My youngest two are getting more and more excited....they think they can't wait much longer. All 4 kids and my husband have begun talking about all of the food, and the specific food items they are most looking forward too. The girls are anxious for the smoothies. Isaac and Jacob's favs are the pizza. They hung around and ate pizza at all hours last trip......with my 4 kids and husband I know that I get my moneys worth just in food alone....The quantity of food they consume is unreal....so watch out if you are behind this family in the buffet line....they don't leave much food in their wake. Heck, I am just going to apologize right now....the food areas are about the only place you will see this family.

My DH, Bob is 6'8" (you can't miss him) and this is his first cruise. I know he is not as excited as the rest of us...but one of his friends just told him that a vacation spent eating and chewing and eating and chewing is incredible ....and I think secretly now that one of his friends told him it was cool...now he too has begun to get excited.....about the food! The more he hears all the kids talking about the things they are looking forward to (besides the food) I think he too is getting anxious.

All I know is 2003 was a busy busy year with lots of work and not enough play....and I need a MAGIC BREAK!!!!!

We will be on the March 20 cruise also. Our 3rd ! Once on the Wonder and once on the Magic (last March) It will be myself, DH,DD age 16, DD age 11 (5th grade) and disney grandma. I can't believe it's almost here and some of you have already started to pack. Your way ahead of me. I find myself running out of time quickly. But am ready for the warm carribean sun. We are tired of the cold Indiana winter.:bounce: :earsboy:

<font color=fuchsia>Just four more weeks! I just cleaned up supper dishes and was thinking I won't be doing that four weeks from now! </font>:teeth:

babs4, I just went to add you to our list and you are already on it. I just updated your information. Just 4 weeks to go. Kathy

Not packing yet, but I've started to organize a bit. A friend once gave me a darling hawaiian=print soft backpack....just fabric, not heavy duty. But its great to bring the book, sunscreen, pop can, drink mug, etc. to the pool. So I'm starting to put in there all the "stuff" I'm getting ready and don't want to forget....the address labels, the new baggage tags, the trading pins, etc. I've also got out the file folder with all the travel details, will put docs there when they FINALLY arrive....etc.

So I am happily passing the time. I've been scrapbooking my previous DCL cruises too.

The time will pass I know.

We're also busy arranging an Alaskan cruise this summer.....we love that itinerary, now if only DCL would cruise it! But we are happy on Princess too.

The memorial for the wr4stling coach is at the school this week, so hopefuolly Kent can move on from there. Since we are so new here, Kent just started as administrator at this school this school year, he didn't know the guy all that well. I think what was the biggest shock was having it happen right there, within his touch....and also having the guy be younger than we are! It was a sobering reminder of our mortality. We have hit the gym more diligently, I'll tell you.

Marilee

Hey, i am a 10 year old girl. I am very excited about this cruise. This will be my 3rd cruise. If u want to talk to me contact me on xfootballchick2x

Email is still down, so I have to use the search to find our link.

I decided I am NOT taking 4 suitcases. Rick and each of the kids can carry the suitcases and I'll carry the travel documents. :p

My DD (12) is standing here watching me type this. Now she wants to register as a DIS member and have her own ID.

Well, keep our server in your thoughts, we may have lost the last two weeks worth of messages. I had 3 in draft form.

Prayers for Kent and Marilee. God Bless.

Heres counting only 25 days....till we leave Indiana.

dvcmomdeh, Hi Dawn, I keep forgetting to ask, do you work for Pudue Univ.? My sister used to work their and now she teaches German at the Catholic high school in Lafayette. Her husband works for Lilly in research. He has a PHD in Chem. It is such a small world maybe you two know each other. Our first TA for our Disney cruises was Larry Vander--something. I can't remember his whole name but he is retired now. Yes, I used a Lafayette TA while living in Des Moines. Now we use our friend. If she quits we will use Dreams. Kathy

I forgot to add my sister's name: Georgia Olsen and Bernie Olsen.

How fun that you are familiar with West Lafayette! Have your sister contact me if she needs to get anything to you and we can bring it with us. I'm afraid that I don't know them.

I have worked at Purdue for nearly 21 years now. I started as a child I think :) It was supposed to get me big perks for education for the kids but I think it will be unaffordable even with the discount. Neither of my kids seem to be interested in what Purdue has to offer.

See you soon.

Hey -

My DH has family in West Lafayette, too. His uncle used to teach at Purdue and is a minister in a Lutheran church there.

Small world!

AboutTheMouse, my brother-in-law is Lutheran, my sister was but converted to Catholicism. i don't know the church he attends.

Both are 50 years soon to be 51. My nephew received his undergrad in engineering from Purdue. A friend of mine has a daughter that will soon be graduating from Purdue in Pharmacy. Such a small world.

dvcmomdeh, thanks for the offer but I don't really need anything from my sister. Georgia has lived in Lafayette and now West Lafayette since Bernie received his PHD from Wisconsin back in 1980 so I have been to your city a lot. It has really grown since they first moved to Indiana. The job she had at Purdue had something to do with the athletic department--she kept track of the athletes education process. I can't remember her title but I do know it was before the current Football coach was hired. She quit when she decided she wanted her summers off. She is also the one who decided to take me on my first cruise since my husband had no desire to go. Well, that was back in 1997 to celebrate my 40th and the rest is history--this March I will have been on 15! Yikes! so many islands and so little money lol. Obviously husband Dave is also hooked.

Only 3 more weekends at home before we fly to Orlando! Spring is also on its way, we have an entire week above freezing predicted and the snow is disappearing fast! Kathy

<font color=C71585>Kathy, was it you who posted that you haven't needed Sea Safe in March? I'm starting to think we might not need to bother as it has been quite cold and the waters will just be starting to warm up when we cruise. Would it be foolish of me to not buy/pack Sea Safe? I think I will post on the main board as well, and see if anyone has ever had a case of "Sea lice" in March. </font>

Yikes! I just read some 2-19 cruisers had a problem with jelly fish at CC. Anyone else ever run into this at CC?

Yes, we did not need Sea Safe in March. Maybe we need to ask Padre Disney if they had any problems in March. Sea Lice is baby jellyfish, right? I never heard of them until this board but then we live in the midwest. We also do not snorkel so maybe we don't go out far enough where the little ones hang out? So, no we did not have any problems. Kathy

We have never had a problem with sea lice. We have been on CC in March, October and December. Last October while at the adult beach we had a stingray swim right next to us saw a barracuda. WOW it was so cooool! Both were a little closer then I was comfortable with.

Can't wait! Can't wait! Can't wait!:teeth:

<font color=royalblue>Yes, the "lice" is baby jellyfish. Because of the post about jelly fish at CC for the Feb. cruise, I'm wondering if that will mean more babies?! than usual?</font>

<font color=deepskyblue>Our entire family is really getting excited as we get closer. My DS has his 7th birthday the first week in March. We have been busy planning his party so that keeps us occupied alot of the time. Once his party is over, we will be that much closer to our cruise. These next weeks are just going to fly by!!</font>:happy1:

Our TA arrived back home today from her cruise, lucky lady, a 10 day cruise! I sure hope our docs are here and she will be calling us this week.

So do you think we need Sea Safe this cruise? I haven't been following the thread but it sounds like there might be a problem? We can't buy it here in IA but I could order it over the internet. I know I found it last year on the internet via a search.

It is getting so close!!!!Kathy
