March 19, 2011 Western on the Magic

I'd love to hear opinions from others re: excursions. We were thinking about Boatswain's turtle farm in the Caymans and perhaps one of the "swim with dolphins / rays / poisonous jellyfish (:rotfl2:)" ones.

Anyone do these already - any preferences or is just sitting on the beach pretty darn fine?

We would also like to hear about excursions. I think my dds would love to swim with the dolphins, but dd (9) is terrified of sharks so I don't know if she would do the rays. It sounds like that is very fun though. Ideas?

In the meantime, our Magical Express tickets arrived for our upcoming trip to MNSSHP! It'll be a surprise trip for DD, and we are so excited about it. The first plan was to pick her up from school and ask her where she'd like to go that day ... but DH and I are already so excited that we're taking the day off work and thinking about pulling her out at lunchtime!

We'll get our little taste of WDW before the big cruise!

Thanks for the advice Papertraveller. Dh and I have cruised before but this is dds first one. Its different how you plan when you are taking the kids.

We have been talking more about excursions. We think we want to do the Jeep excursion in Cozumel. I looked into going to the ruins on the mainland but I think it would be to long of a day with the bus and ferry ride, plus I was worried about the lack of food on the trip and dd10 has to eat every couple of hours.

Starting to think about making our FE and coming up with ideas but first I need to make dd8 Halloween costume.

We are getting so excited for this cruise--well, I should say I am because the girls won't know about it til Christmas.

For Halloween they are going to be Laura ingalls Wilder and it was Dorothy, but it may have changed by now. My ydd likes to try on odd's old dance costumes so she may just wear one of those. They have a parade and party at school, wear their costumes to their dance classes and odd has a girl scout halloween thing. At least they will get good use out of them. What are your kids going as?

For Christmas, I am going to have a couple different boxes about the cruise. I thought one would be new dresses for formal night, a sailor mickey I bought on clearance last year from macy's, and the last one would be the dvd, brochure, and count down calendar for the cruise. Any more ideas for things I could put in the boxes? They aren't going to be getting much else besides the cruise stuff. Something from santa and a couple other small things.

We have had beautiful weather here. I hope it lasts!

DD8 is really into Disney Fairies right now and decided to be Rani. I am making her costume. I love it when my children decide to be something nobody else wants to be for halloween so I have to make their costume. I have all the fabric, I just need to find the time to work on it.

DD10 was waiting to for my brother to decide what my one year old nephew was going to be. We were hoping they would pick Mickey Mouse and then she was going to the tween Minnie. But they decided to make him a golfer for Halloween so DD10 is going to be the Mad Hatter. I just ordered it this morning for her.

They say our good weather will last through the weekend. It has been a crazy weather week here. We had frost the beginning of the week and I had to turn the heat on Tuesday morning. The high today is 83 but right now it is below 50.

The surprise will be so fun! I'm finding it hard right now to keep quiet about everything I have planned for our next surprise trip.

For the boxes, you might check out the Halloween stores in your area for some pirate gear -- last year I picked up a bandana, eye patch and a really cute inflatable parrot. Mickey took a shine to that bird, and it became a fixture in all of our pirate photos onboard ship.

Good luck keeping your secret 2littleprincesses. I couldn't do it.

If your girls are into hidden mickeys. You may want to find the Hidden Mickeys at Sea book to put in a box.

We just finished our first cruise on Thursday (Wonder)! DH had such a great time that before we got off, he made us book a 7 day cruise for our 20th anniversary!!! I can't wait to go back!!! It will be just us, no kids this time.

For shore excursions we will be snorkeling in the Keys and diving in both other ports. I'm all in for the FE's and the get together as well!

Is everyone ready for Halloween this weekend? I have a few things to finish up on dd8 Rani costume before this weekend. DH needs to put some of the decoration back in the front yard, the wind storm this week blew the tombstones around and we had to move them to the front porch.

We are ready! The girls are having a halloween party on Sunday before trick or treating. They have had a lot of festivities--dance halloween party, school party, Girl Scout party, our party and trick or treating--yikes!

I get a night off for book club tonight and can't wait!

Have fun trick or treating! Hope the weather is nice.

Hello all we are so excited to say that we booked our cruise today. We have two girls who will be 11 and 8. Sounds like there will be plenty of girls their ages.

:welcome: to the group nursetink.

DD10 will turn 11 the beginning of March and DD8 will still be when we cruise she will turn 9 at the end of May.

Welcome!!! My dds will be 10 and 7 at time of cruise. Seems like a lot of girls around those ages. Can't wait as it gets closer.

Hi to all......
My DD and I will be sailing with you. We were going to forgo the annual birthday cruise this year because we were doing the transatlantic instead, but alas, tradition won out(or rather my daughter did) so we will be celebrating on the Magic.

Thank you Erin. My oldest DD will turn 11 in December, and my younger DD will turn 9 at the beginning of April.

2littleprincesses I agree seems as though there are many girls in their age range. I am sure they will have a blast!

Erin,
Dd9 birthday will turn 10 March 1. When is your dds b-day?

We are going to tell them about the cruise at Christmas. I am going to have a little scavenger hunt for the boxes and clues. I can't wait!

Welcome nursetink and platinumcruzer! Looks like we're going to have a fine crew of DISers aboard!

We are just back from a fabulous four-day visit to WDW - an early birthday celebration for DD, who turns 11 today. We stayed at BLT and took in the MNSSHP. Only regret: DDT on Halloween night. That was a nightmare!

Now it's on to planning the next trip!

Hey gang, I started a Face book page - I made it private so no one will know when you are going to be away from home.
