March 14, '10 "Wonder"ful cruise!!

I think I am overpacking:scared1: I need to take a chill pill ....
I just realized that I need to downsize the dinner attire as pirate stuff takes care of one night and formal the other ...so instead of thinking I need 4 other nice shirts for everyone..it is really 2!
I am trying desperately to get it in one large suitcase and the rest a couple carryons. We shall see....
I have the vacuum bags and I am not afraid to use them LOL Hoping that repacking them after will work--should be able to roll them out to repack though right?
Report card update---past half way done!!!:surfweb::surfweb: I have to get these done so I can obsess 100% on DCL !!
Glad to hear I am not the only one packing.People at work think I am a bit eager...(none of them are DISrs:rolleyes1)

Packing is exciting! It makes the trip come faster. I know I am going to have to buy some new shorts for my boys - they grow so fast! I am glad that there is an outlet mall only about 15 minutes away.

I am in charge of a big fundraiser that is next Friday, and I won't have much time to focus on packing until after that is over. I still have to figure out the pirate night. Do most people wear full-on costumes or is it more like shirts with pirates on them?

Leaving tomorrow!!----(my suitcase....that is.:rotfl2:)
But, it just means that it is getting that much closer.
My parents are driving my luggage down with them. They aren't going on the cruise but will be staying at Cocoa Beach for a month. (cannot wait until I can stay that long. Someday when I retire)
Has everyone stopped posting here because you are on Facebook?

I've been trying to get things together to go. I've got our arm bands and medication to avoid sea sickness. Picked up our over the door shoe bag today. Trying to make sure I've got our clothes ready (at least in my mind) to go. It's sneaking up on me!

What kind of med did you get?? I went to the US last weekend and I did not see any at the Target pharmacy. I have heard that Benadryl has the same ingredient. So, I am planning on giving DD that and DS gravol. (he could stand have something that makes him sleepy...ha-he is very active and has vestibular seeking so he will be fine to take this.
I am going to look in Florida for something for DH and I when we arrive. Benadryl and gravol were my only options in Canada

I thought the same thing. I thought everyone was on facebook. I don't get on facebook that often, so I never signed up.

I am trying to get stuff together, too. I worked on my FE, yesterday, it's harder, or should I say more time consuming than I thought. Maybe it's because I have to make 5 pockets, or maybe it's just because I'm constantly getting interupted.

I have to make sure I pack everything for our 2 nights, before the cruise, in a separate suitcase. I hate doing that, because someone always seems to need something out of the other suitcases no matter how many times I tell them to put everything you need for the first day in this suitcase.

I also have gotten our sea meds. and wrist bands. We have never tried the sea bands or started taking the meds. BEFORE the cruise, so I am hoping that helps my daughter. Last time she started taking something after the first night of the cruise, and that seemed to take awhile to kick in.

We are trying to decided which Disney park to go to on Saturday. With 5 kids they all want to go to different parks, so it's up to mom and dad to make the decision. They all have there good things.

Does everyone have their travel docs all filled out? That is all done and with our tickets, ready to go.

Does anyone know what is a good time to get to the port?

Hi all I am not great at this form of chatting. I have found out that I am giving the wrong information to the wrong people:sad2:

So here is some info I was asked for.

My son loves FUNYUNS® Onion Flavored Rings. the snack bags would be great in the exchange for him. We can't get them here where we live.

Because I don't have little ones in my cabin our room number is 8100. Stop by and say hi:welcome: or leave us a message on our door.

I had to ask the pharmacist where the medicine was - it was on the very bottom shelf and there were only like two rows of them. Very obscure. At the advice of the pharmacist, I purchased Mecilizine (active ingredient). It is the same ingredient as found in Bonnine. She told me that both types of medicines are antihistamines, but the Mecilizine (she felt) was more effective. Also, the Bonnine says on the package that it does not make you drowsy. SO, we'll see. I hope it works!

I need to fill out our travel docs. We had been waiting for our daughter's US passport to arrive. It has now - so I need to sit down and fill out all of the info. I think I also read that we can pre-pay our gratuities online. I think i'm gonna do that as well.

I still need to make our FE. May do that this morning.

Let me see your FE, when you get it done. I am hoping to finish mine this weekend.
I also got the mecilizine, and my pharmacist told me that it will still make your drowsy. I am planning on giving it to her at bedtime. He did say that it doesn't make you as sleepy as the Bonnine. Who knows? I guess we shall find out.

my pharmacist said the same thing - that it would make us drowsy. Good thinking about taking it at bedtime though - it didn't even occur to me that we can take it once a day, so take it at night! DUH!

You are so funny. See, this is what these boards are for. To share all of this important information with us.

Oh, I also read that you should start the meds the day before, not the day you get on the ship. I guess it needs a little time to get into your system.

Great, I will put your cabin # on my list. And thanks for the idea.
We are getting very excited. My girls are busy with school, but can't wait to have a week off.

I am not having much luck finding something I thought would be easy to get---Photo Mattes. I went to Blacks and they did not have white ones even. Now I will have to drive about 50min to Windsor to a Micheals to get them.
That and the shoe holder are the last things I need.
My friend and I are going to print our magnets tomorrow. Getting excited!! Reports cards are 99% done--Whoooo hooooo:cool1:
We had 3 bus cancellation days this week so that really messed up my teaching plans. My drive to work was horrid yesterday. I drive 35min to work and the one road is always very icy.
I cannot wait for the Florida climate!! It better warm up down there. We are DVC members and are also hoping for a good incentive to add more pts. on the cruise. This is my first cruise and I am just so excited. I know that I will be impressed. It is Disney after all.
I am a bit stressed about possible sea sickness. No one in the family is motion sick but you never know. I think my biggest thing should be to stop thinking about it.
Myself and the kids are also very picky eaters --So I hope to broaden DD and I's eating horizons hopefully a bit. I have heard that I can order whatever however. Is this true?? Do they usually have standbys like plain chicken breast and mashed potatoes??

Hi, I'm new to this website and can say that the T-shirt designs have me hooked! I'm trying to make our groups trip extra special and am so glad I found this thread!

We (two families) are making a road trip from south Texas to Florida making it a fun drive making stops along the way. It will be myself, my daughter 13 and my niece (celebrating her birthday) 15 and our wonderful friends and their two daughters. Myself and the other mother are stressing out because we both are in college (I'm at the end of my bachelors and she is just beginning her masters - so stress is an understatement for us) we are used to be girl scout leaders together and we have been so busy with school that we are so behind our usual schedule over over planning.....we have nothing done. Her husband recently started his own business so he is in a high stress mode too but as mom's we also have to do all the planning and packing. After the 17 hours in a car with 3 teenagers and 1 10 yr old we may be confused for Goofy!:rotfl:

Anyways, I have not been able to read through all of this post but have a couple of questions. I have been on many cruises but this is only my second Disney Cruise (did a mother-daughter cruise in 2004). Do they have a formal night? I don't remember that from the last time. Also, I saw people talking about pirate outfits....what is this for? Any inside details I need to know are greatly appreciated.

Did I mention us mothers are hugely stressed! :headache: But I still want to make this a memorable trip for everyone. The other family have been wonderful to me and my family and I want to do little things to make their experience one to remember.....and their daughters are very sweet. My niece who I am now raising has never been to anything Disney so I know she is in for a surprise!:wizard:

I look forward to meeting other Disney fans on our cruise!

Hello Priscilla

We also are driving from South Texas, but with a 2 year old and 4 year old. I'm not sure who will be more confused from the road trip -- you or us!!!:confused3

There is one 'Dress Up' night on the 4-day cruise. This will usually be on Monday, after your day in Nassau. Just wear something slightly nicer than the 'casual' nights. You'll see many different interpretations of the term 'Dress Up'. Pirate Night will be on Tuesday, after Castaway Cay. You can optionally dress up as a pirate for dinner. There will be a pirate deck party and late night buffet too.

We are REALLY looking forward to getting on board. The days are moving faster and faster -- it won't be long now. Maybe we'll see you on board!

Thanks for the response Danny. What part of south Texas? We are from the Victoria area, actually it's Port Lavaca/Point Comfort. Are yall making a straight drive? We are leaving on Friday (leaving at lunch and staying in Biloxi the first night and then Cocoa Beach Saturday. I think I am more excited than anyone else in my group but then again most of them don't know what they will experience and my daughter was too young the first time to really remember.

We are from the San Antonio area. Will be leaving around 1:30 AM on Friday morning and going to the Tallahassee area for the evening. Saturday we're staying in the Disney area and hitting Downtown Disney, then driving into Port Canaveral on Sunday morning. I'm the huge Disney fan of the group and love to plan these trips, but my wife is excited too. The kids will be when they get on the ship!
