March 14, '10 "Wonder"ful cruise!!

Okay all you experienced DCL'rs. This whole "dress code" thing ---A question for you?? I have been reading in some parts of this board that they dropped the NO shorts rule in Dining Room. Now I have no problem with the rule but if I do decide to let my little guy wear NICE shorts and a nice polo or button-down this would be okay?? Also, for HIM... Would he be okay to wear a pair of nice clean crocs to dinner?? My daughter will want to wear a nice sundress or nice capris and top to dinner but I find for boys it is a bit harder. My DH will pack some docker type pants(seriously doubt he will wear shorts to dinner) and I will do the basic black capris with Nice blouses for dinner.
Formal night?? Now would a simple dress be fine?? or do I need a fancier dress?? Also for DH dockers and a button down and tie?? ( NOT bringing a suit jacket--trying to pack us all in one LARGE suitcase with vac. bags and about 3 carry ons)
Who has experience bringing alcohol on board?? I have read I CAN do this as long as it its a new bottle and I carry it on vs. checked. Now, I will bring some mugs with lids... so it is fine to carry around the drinks then correct?
I can bring on food as long as it is packaged too right?? I know there is a ton to eat but DS will NEED his goldfish crackers...;) and I will bring some candy for the movie theatre.
I am soooooo excited!!! Last night I woke up at 1am with many DCL thoughts racing. Crazy!!
Here are the "miscellaneous " things I think I need (please tell me if any seem UNnecessary so I can skim my items...
Over the door shoe holder
Travel clock (lit)
rechargeable batteries and charger
Chargers for the Itouch, DS etc
Highlighters
Wipe off board
outlet thingy for plugging in multiples
Mugs with lids
ziplocs
first aid travel kit
Motion sick med, heartburn/upset stomach stuff (gaviscon/tums)
sunscreen
1 dollar bills for room service tips

Sorry for the long post--I just need your superior knowledge and advice....
Thanks:goodvibes

I seen EVERYTHING at dinner!!!! I never seen anyone get "kicked out" because of what they were wearing.

Alcohol, I bring rum on the ship. (I don't like to spend $6 bucks per drink). Never had a problem with it.

You can set up a wake up on the phone.

Food, They say" You can bring on it but, You cant bring the unused food back into the US"...

HEY fellow cruisers!

I just started up a facebook group for us. It is listed as
Disney Wonder Dis Cruisers March 14-18, 2010
I've set it up so that people can see the description of the group, but not the content. For that reason, I have approve members.
I'd love to add you all! If you'll send a request to add to the group and tell me your DIS name, I'll add you!

Also, my facebook name is Shannon Branscum Winters - I'd love to add you as a friend!

Can you invite me to join the Dis Wonder facebook group, not sure what I did but it appears to be gone. I am not sure I like facebook yet.:confused3

Just ignore, I figured it out.

So you are doing 2 cruises in the next couple on months,:cool1:

and doing 1 alone with your son is so great. :cool1::cool1:

I really want to do a 1 on 1 trip with my girls, but I think I will wait till they turn 10.

We will be on this cruise too!! Our first Disney Cruise. We are:

Danny (me), Ana (DW), Julian, 4 (DS), and Amber, 2 (DD).

This will be DS's 3rd cruise and DD's 2nd. All of the previous cruises have been on Carnival. I am a Disney Freak, so am REALLY looking forward to this cruise. DW says she thinks this cruise will be the best ever. Would love to get in on the FE, but I'll probably have to purchase one on ebay instead of make my own. Not very creative in that area, but we'll see. I'll also try to get in on the Facebook group tonight when I get home from work.

We're driving over starting on Thursday and will be staying at the Cape Canaveral Residence Inn on Saturday night.

We will be staying at Disney for 4 nights after the cruise. We're going to try to catch a few attractions that the kids missed when we were there last March.

:) Welcome...Sounds like a great trip you have planned. Your DS will be in the club with mine.:thumbsup2 Since you have little ones who have cruised before--Can you tell me if you gave them precautionary motion sickness meds or did you just "wait and see" I am a bit worried about it-- don't know why since neither of my kids has ever had motion sickness issues.:confused3

Thanks for the welcome. We did not use any motion sickness meds on the last cruise, but maybe should have. DD just was not herself, but since she was so young she just couldn't tell us if anything was wrong. We're thinking maybe she had some slight sea sickness. We haven't decided for sure what we're going to do this trip.

Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-131, is scheduled to launch at 1:34pm ET March 18.

That would be so cool, if we could see it the day we get off the Wonder. We were just going to spend the day at the resort at WDW, so it would be easy to stick around in Cape Canaveral for the day. I will have to check that out when we pick up the car on that day.

wow this trip is coming up fast, looking forward to getting away.:cool1:

I guess I should think about doing all the online check in.
