March 14, '10 "Wonder"ful cruise!!

We are going to go to WDW for a day before and a few days after the cruise. I am not coming back to NY until absolutely necessary - last year snow was still on the ground when we got back after spring break in March.

We haven't decided where to stay yet. We are waiting to hear back from Disney on a DVC resale purchase (it has been over a month - I wish they would just finish the ROFR review already). If it goes through, we are going to stay on our points wherever is still available. If not, we will have to negotiate where is best for all 9 of us to stay.

Also, I meant to say something earlier about the seasick thing and forgot. When I pregnant, I was EXTREMELY nauseated for about 4 months with both my boys. I used what my DH dubbed my "arm bands of power" to make it better. They are actually called SeaBands and are elastic bands with a little plastic button on them. They use accupressure (not puncture) to relieve nausea. They look dorky, but they work. They are usually sold next to Dramamine in a drug store or pharmacy section in other stores. They are supposed to work great for motion sickness as well and they don't make you feel all woozy like the medications do.

On a different topic, I found out last week that I made it to Round 2 for the WDW Mom Panel! I am all nervous/excited waiting for the next selection to happen. Wish me lots of luck and Pixie Dust!

How fun to have a day at Disney before and after!

I'm sure you already know, but it takes a lot of points for a Saturday night. For our December trip we are staying at a All Stars resort for Friday and Saturday and then moving over to our DVC for Sunday through Thursday.

I was wondering if those bands really worked. You would recommend them? Are there a lot of different ones out there? Are the SeaBands the best? I have to look into those for my daughter. I want to be prepared with everything!

Yahoo! Round 2! Congrats! Sending you some magic lucky dust.:tink:

So every time I think I should downgrade this trip and save the money for our summer cruise Disney gives me a discount.

I was seriously thinking of just doing the cruise and skipping the WDW after the cruise but I just checked my email and I have a PIN for WDW resorts. I will have to call tomorrow first think and see what is available for the Thursday and Friday. Should I be good and take the extra discount off the room I have booked at the Caribbean Beach Resort, or should I upgrade to Contemporary Resort where I have always wanted to stay or go to our favorite Animal Kingdom Lodge, too many choices.

Lisa

Sounds like too many choices. We already booked our airfare, so I can't take advantage of those deals that are coming out. So, I guess the good news is that we are saving money. Even though I would rather stay for a few days after the cruise.

I really want to do Disney before the cruise, but my DH wants the kids to go to SeaWorld on Saturday. I am not sure what we are going to do yet. Since I am the one that makes the ressies, we will see ;)

With our cruise selling out so fast after the promo came out, I am wondering if when final payments comes due if some people will cancel. I really want to try to find a room that we can stay in for both B2B cruise. I don't like the idea of packing everything back up and then unpacking again. Seems like a waste of precious disney time!

Have a great Saturday!!
It will be interesting who wins out. I would vote for Disney, but it is nice to see the florida Sea World. You can do that in one day vs. Disney where you need so much more time.

I am hoping you will be able to get a room that you can stay in for both cruises. That would make life easier, but I'm sure they will try to make it as easy as possible if it doesn't work. Maybe you'll get upgraded?!

We're going on this cruise! I've not posted on the cruise board before, but I'm a long time Diser so I thought it was time I jump over here to get my act together for our cruise!

I'm trying not to get super excited because we are giving this to our children as a Christmas gift. Since they don't know yet, we're trying to avoid too much planning or excitement so that we don't give it away!

We are:

Robert (DH)
Shannon (me!)
Ethan (13 at the time of sailing)
AbbyGrace (6)

My parents are also cruising with us!
Ernest (DD)
Starr (DM)

We have cruised once before - about 5 years ago. We did a 3 night DCL cruise. It was too short, and our DS got sick. He had never been prone to motion sickness before, but the second night, the ship was rocking SO bad, we were all holding on to the bed thinking we were gonna fall off! He got sick - we went to the nurse and were confined to our room for the remainder of our trip. It wasn't too magical!
Moral of the story - TAKE YOUR OWN MOTION SICKNESS MEDICINE! Do whatever you can possibly do to avoid motion sickness even if you've never been prone to it in the past. If you find yourself in the the nurse's office in need of medicine, it could ruin your trip.

SO, now, after all of these years, we have a DO OVER! And we're thrilled!

I've been reading about the fish extenders - they sound like so much fun!
Do we have an exchange organized for this cruise date yet? I'd love to participate!

I think the SeaBands worked really well. That is the only brand I tried, but I am guessing that the brand doesn't matter as long as the principle is the same (elastic band with plastic dot that puts pressure on your wrist). I am planning to bring them for our family just in case.

I changed my mind and just cancelled our connecting rooms for this cruise - the secret porthole ones that are Cat 10. So they're available if you're interested - good luck!!

do you know the room number?

I'm bumping the thread with hopes that more will add to our group, that my family name has been added to the Dis cruise list and hoping that someone will want to participate in fish extender exchange?
Anyone?

Gosh, it has been a long time since I've been on here.

We are still going on this cruise! It's been so busy with the holiday's coming up and planning our vacation. We are going to Disney on Christmas day and staying for New Year's. I'm sure when that trip is over I will be concentrating on the cruise!

We have high school football going on right now. We just won our game in round 2 of the playoffs. We beat the state champions of last year. I still can't get use to Texas, high school football. It's crazy! We played at the new Cowboys Stadium. Heard that there was around 30,000 people there.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Anyone waking up early to get to those sales the next day? Old Navy opens at 3:00am! I'll be out, but it may not be that early.

CCCORY - we're from Texas too! Yep, football is a way of life here, isn't it? So cool that your team made the playoffs - how exciting!
My DS plays football as well, but the team wasn't a playoff team.

Hope you all have a GREAT Thanksgiving!

Can't wait until Christmas to reveal our cruise plans to our kiddos!

We are going on this cruise also!! We have connecting Cat 9's on deck 2, love that location! This will be our 3rd Disney cruise, 2nd on the Wonder.

It is me (Kayla) dh, dd 10 (Cassidy), and ds 8 (Cameron)

I checked today and it looks like there are only 8, 9, 10, and 11's left. I didn't look at all cats but the cat 8 was only a guanantee. Looks like a pretty full ship!

We will be driving from Louisiana on Friday and Saturday and staying in a rental home on Sat. night. We are going to do SeaWorld for a couple of days after the cruise.

HEY! We're almost neighbors!

This is our second Disney cruise, but the first one that we've done any kind of research. Can you tell me what the Cat 8 guarantee means?

So glad to see more cruisers on the thread - I'm getting really excited now!

Where in Texas are you? Or are you talking about on the ship??? The Cat 8 guarantee means they aren't selling assigned rooms in that Cat anymore, so if you bought a cat 8 now they would put you wherever suited them best. It means there are not many rooms left. Or that is my understanding of it anyway.

We live in Longview, Texas! Just about an hour from Shreveport.

Thanks for the clarification on the cat specifications. I would tihnk with such a great promotion and so many people being on spring break that week that the ship would be full, so I guess that doesn't surprise me. Being a semi-newbie to cruising, I'm still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of the terms.
