Is that considered "Spring Break"? I though that was a week BEFORE Spring Break. I'm in Canada so in the United States, do you guys have your Spring Break at that date or later? My dh and I are debating about this. :confused3
Please enlighten us! :wizard:

I work for a university in Arizona and that week is when the students spring break is.

Spring break times generally vary here depending on the school. There's no set spring break for everyone. Noramlly mid March is when a majority of them start and then they go until mid April.

OH.....MY......GOD!!! Are we going to be screwed with tons and tons of people not able to move or WHAT? Should be change our dates and take our kid out of school? :guilty:

My DS's elementary school here in Simi(1 hour north of DL) has spring break during the week of April 10th. I would suspect that other schools in Southern California may be around the same time but I don't know for sure...

I don't know about other CSU universities but San Diego State is out that week. San Diego school district has their spring break in April. It's going to be busy, I've been the last three years in March and it's as crowded as the summer season.

I think you can pretty much count on it being busy from mid-March through the week following Easter because there is no one set week for Spring Break. It will vary from district to district and from private school to private school. My kids are out on Good Friday and the entire week following Easter. Others are out the week prior to Easter and others are out in March. It just depends.

It'll be crowded but you can manage it. What I suggest is visting the parks as soon as they open. When it gets crowded right around lunch time, head back to your hotel or maybe take in DTD for a break. By late afternoon/early evening, the crowds should dwindle by then or at least be not as crowded. This worked for us this year when we went to WDW during my DS's spring break. It was very crowded but we went back to POFQ during lunch for a nap/swim/lunch and returned to the parks in the evening. Keep in mind that the parade and fireworks shows will be crowded so pick out your spots early. Good luck!

Oh good that makes me feel better. What the hell is DTD and POFQ?

We've only visited Mickey during spring breaks (DL 2004, WDW 2005). From what I understand, US schools have varying dates for their spring dates -- anywhere from mid-March to end of April, I think.

During spring break 2004, we went to DL 3 days earlier than the beginning of spring break holiday. It was the Wed, Thurs, and Friday before. (We took the kids out of school early.) It was very quiet and nice on Wed and Thurs. On those days, we went on all the rides we wanted to go on, several times over. The crowds got bigger on Friday, and you can imagine quite busy after that. On the Friday and Saturday, we didn't do too many rides, tho it was possible but the wait times were longer. We also watched more shows, strolled DTD, and ate at Goofy's Kitchen and Blue Bayou. By Sunday, when it got really crowded, we were off to San Diego.

I think that it is possible to go during busy peak times. You can just adjust your pace to a slower one. IMHO, if your kids are young and you can take them out of school a few days earlier prior to the actual break, you would be better off. Also, it seems to be cheaper to fly mid-week.

Oh BTW:

DTD = Downtown Disney
POFQ = Port Orleans French Quarter (WDW resort)

It shouldn't be that bad. It will be busy but since schools vary when they have spring breaks it won't be crowded just that week. Get there early as soon as the park opens (you will be surprised to see how not busy at all it is for a few hours each day). When it gets busy normally around lunch time either head over to california adventure park or downtown disney to do some shopping and eat lunch. You'll be fine just get to the parks early and use fastpass when it's available for the popular rides with the longer lines. Don't worry even with the crowds you'll have a great time!

One of the districts in my area starts spring break March 27th (officially--it's a Monday).

We are in Northern CA (on a traditional school schedule), and our Winter Break starts the same time as the website shows for LA area (we just go back to school a few days earlier). Our spring break is the same as the LA area, but our last day of school is June 9th.

Also, keep in mind that many CA schools are on year round schedules. This means that any given month 1/4 of the students at each school are on break. They all have most of the month of July off as well.

Hope this helps with everyone's vacation planning. :cheer2:
