March '11 TR: My 21 + 5 Years Birthday At WDW!! (HOME SWEET HOME) 6/24

Hey Megan- sort of glad you are resting this weekend from the surgery so I can catch up. I've been keeping up with you on FB and see how much pain you are in. I really hope it gets better soon and you can start eating a bit more than just broth and jello. hang in there girlie!!!! just think of your june trip!!!! you are off for two weeks to recover, right? keep smiling!

love all the updates- so glad your LC meal was great this time. Love the twin pearls- how cool is that? the cages turned out so pretty with the pearls too!!! :thumbsup2

get some rest and feel better quickly! i am actually catching up on the boards while i am laying on the couch feeling pretty crappy myself! :wizard:

Megan,

Hope you've been able to get some rest and that your recovery is going well. Get better soon!!

Le Cellier and pick a pearl...sounds like a perfect Disney Day to me! Your pearls are beautiful and those little coaches are perfect for them.

Hope you're feeling better soon:hug:

Thanks! We had a blast!

Megan,
I am so far behind! Okay, here it goes.

CONGRATULATIONS ON PASSING THE PRAXIS!!!!! I'm so happy for you!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

TIW card. Here's my opinion. Jason and I used it the last time we went down. And the only reason I spent the money to get the card was because we were eating table service every day, so I knew the money spent to get the card would pay for itself and then some. My suggestion is figure out how much you think you'll be spending on TS and then see if spending the money on the card is worth it. Sometimes on short trips it may not be.

How awesome that you got two pearls instead of one! I have never done pick a pearl, but I'm tempted....

Thanks! We're going to sit down and try to plan our meals. It's nice that we can use it at the food court at POFQ but other than that, it's only good at TS meals. We figured we'd try one meal at Vero whether it's casual lunch or dinner and can use it for that and maybe use it when we get back. Since there still aren't any AP room discounts for the summer, it looks like we'll for sure be sticking with the CM ones especially with the split schedule and Universal. My mom said she'd got 1/2s on TIW so we'll probably just buy that!

HEY DIS FRIENDS!

I thought I would take a few mins to update everyone on my health! I'm sure you've been reading horror posts from FB and they are the truth!!!

The surgery went well on Thurs. I got there at 7:30 and they took me into surgery at 9:45. The dr talked to my mom afterwards and said everything went well. Both my tonsils were the same size (aprox walnut size) and needed to come out. It took me over an hour and 1/2 to wake up, eat ice chips, a Popsicle, change and then we left just after 12:30.

I was fine on the drive home but got overheated quickly. When I got home, I nearly vomited (sorry! TMI), didn't and passed out in my bed.

The first day was fine as I was drugged up on who knows what!

By day 2 the pain was really intense. The dr did not prescribe anything stronger (Tylenol with codeine and Amox for the infections) so I stuck through it. By Sat night, I ate a bit of a Frosty and by nightfall I had developed a pretty bad chest cough with mucus..yucky :( I still have it today so they called me in a steroid, new pain med, and I'm still on Amox.

It feels like I'll never be able to talk normal or eat again! I am able to eat Jello and ice chips. I've tried spaghetti and noodles and they are both fine but it takes me a good 45 mins to eat a small amount. Anything with milk seems to bring on my cough more so I've been staying away from that until I heal more so I don't chance bleeding!

Anyways, that's pretty much it! My mom is a saint at this point and is getting her work out with the stairs in our house and has a good list of my meds going! Walmart Pharmacy is now our 2nd home it seems!

I'm really hoping that after day #7 things will start to improve, especially my voice/talking which seems to be getting worse and I sound horrible and can't pronounce anything without sounding like a 2 year old!

My advice would be to anyone who's kids are maybe debating about having this done..do it while your young!!!!!!! I've been told that the recovery rate for kids is maybe a week where as I'm pretty sure it's going to be a solid 2 or 3 weeks for me!

Alright well I'm off to try and eat something for dinner! Thanks for all the well wishes!

Aww...That sounds awful

I hope you start to feel better soon :goodvibes

Ugh! I'm sorry you are feeling so horribly!

I'm such a dork that while I'm reading your post, I'm trying to imagine what the inside of your throat/larynx looks like  Did they take out the adenoids too?

Definitely avoid dairy - it will increase the mucus. That goes for chocolate too, not that you are probably interested in eating chocolate at the moment.

Right now, I'm guessing everything back there is inflamed and irritated which is making your voice sound horrible, plus it could be affecting how the air is coming out your nose as well so your voice just sounds different - are you more nasally sounding? I'm not 100% sure how tonsilectomies work. But stay hydrated and as it heals, your voice will go back to normal in no time!

Okay, sorry for all that nonsense - hope you feel better soon! :flower3:

oh my gosh i'm so sorry to hear about the pain you're going through :( that's got to be awful!! i have to get my wisdom teeth out soon and i am TERRIFIED!! i do not handle pain well at all... so that is going to just be horrible. but i'm glad to see that you're surviving over there and you're getting through it! i hope everything gets better soon! hang in there :goodvibes

Thanks! It pretty much just looks like a throat but it's all white and will eventually scab and then when those fall off, it should be a normal throat I hope haha. I had my adenoids out as well which I guess you have to be ultra safe when blowing your nose..ek! My throat is pretty raw, inflamed, and my tongue is as well which doesn't help when trying to eat!

I got for a check-up next Thursday so we'll see if I get cleared for work. I'm starting to think I should have taken the 29th off as well and started back the following week. I've been doing a ton of OT at work so the $$ isn't an issue at this point but we'll see. Lots and lots of liquids is what I'm told!

It's funny how everyone tells you to eat ice cream for 2 weeks yet it stinks because it makes you cough so much but it goes down so easily and you get sick of Popsicles quickly!

Thanks for the kind words!

It for sure is the worst pain I've ever gone through!

I had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled (I only had 2 :rotfl:) and that wasn't too bad but you really have to watch because the area is pretty much opened with stitches and I got food trapped in mine and it got infected so I had to go back in and they had to unstitch, clean, and restitch the area with me awake unlike when you have them out and are knocked out! I would for sure suggest watching that closely and make sure the area is cleaned really well because that pain was worse than the first few days after they were out! I think they have me Percocet and that made my stomach upset so they switched me to Vicodin which was a lot better for my stomach!

Thanks for the kind words!

Not to hijack, but I have a big time dental phobia and had my bottom wisdom teeth extracted (they were both impacted) a few years ago. I was terrified! Luckily I was completely knocked out for the surgery part, but the pain after was really not bad at all. Granted, I did have really good pain meds, but it was fine! Follow the rules the doc gives you, no straws or rice either! You will do great.

You poor thing! That sounds ten times worse than when I had my appendix out. I truly hope you get well soon. Just think Disney thoughts and cuddle up and watch a good Disney movie or something. Feel better

It's better today actually! I have a pretty bad ulcer under my tongue so it burns after a while no matter what I eat but I figured it will hopefully go away haha. I'm doing pretty good with the pain meds too so hopefully by next week I'll be eating solid/non spicy food again!

HEY EVERYONE!

Thanks for the kind words so far!

Things have been better today. I did pretty good with my pain meds and have not napped but that was due to the fact that I'm starting to have more energy so I was on the computer and we lost power so I had to deal with that too but I'm hoping day by day things will improve especially my voice!!!

I have a June trip dilemma I'd like to share!

We were able to rebook our Vero part of the trip with my friend's CM discount today. We downgraded to a Studio room = couch/bed instead of 2 queen beds but we're saving $519 :scared1: so I had to do it.

I'm not sure if I mentioned but my parent's 30th wedding anniversary is June 13th. My dad loves going to Colorado in the fall so I'm sure they will do that for a short weekend.. Anyways..

With the savings, I brought it up to mom about a resort change with the money savings but we ruled out the POFQ part since we don't land till 7:30pm day 1, we're at Universal all day for day 2, we have all day day 3, but are leaving early in the AM on day 4 for Vero so that would be a waste but what about canceling WL on our last day and rebooking and upgrade..

YC/BC is of course booked since it's mid June/Father's Day week but Poly is open. My friend said that it's $94 extra to stay CL at Poly in a garden than a standard garden room at Poly...

WHAT DO YOU THINK???????????

Should I cancel WL and rebook Poly telling mom I rebooked Poly but don't tell her about the upgrade till we're checking in and they take us away to the Hawaii building??? My bro and I LOVED YC CL in Aug and I think Poly would be nice too since they had their Disneymoon in 1981 at CR (Not CL) but for one night, my treat, I think it would be fun! We don't leave for DME the following day till 3pm so we'd have from 12-1pm at check-in till 3pm the next day allowing us to snack on everything!!!

OKAY ENOUGH OF MY RANT...WHAT DO YOU THINK???????????

I think I'll sleep on it because D-CM said that they have most all of the Poly categories open for that night and not to worry. GF is out since we really aren't GF people. CR, BC, YC, and BWI are all booked. AK and WL are booked for CL rooms.

COMMENTS WOULD BE GREAT!!

I'm glad your surgery went well! Hope you feel better soon!

As for your June trip dilemma...I say book the Poly! I'd LOVE to stay at the Poly someday, especially CL!! Do it!!!

I say do it :) You got the discount, so you might as well spend a little of the saved money on something special :goodvibes I think your parents would enjoy it. And I saw Poly CL food pictures.... and if I had that option I would DEFINITELY do it :thumbsup2

That makes me feel a little better! Thank you both for the encouragement!! I am going to the dentist Friday so we'll probably have to set a date :scared1: But hopefully I will handle it well! Especially the pain meds. I don't do well with upset stomachs either. I freak out  Ahhh dental hygine.

I think I go ahead and booK CL and not tell her

Not a huge price difference and am sure your mom would be thrilled :wizard:

Thanks!!! You'll have to see what I decided! You know me and my resort stalking..it never ends and since we're not really booking ADRs it makes this worse..and more costly too with the deposits/refunds :rotfl:

Thanks! I've been doing plenty of research on Poly CL. While I don't think it's as "cool" as YC since it's in a whole separate building, the separate building has really great views and the food sounds pretty good too. The only thing I might do is try to request a room with a balcony since the 2nd floor rooms don't have one but then again we're Garden so our view isn't going to be much anyways!

:) I told my parents after my brother and I stayed at YC CL that you have to try it once in your life. Since we aren't doing a full-blown trip for their 30th, why not have one night of luxury!?

I'm here late! I can't keep up with you! Now, I need to go catch up!

:welcome:

I think a ton of people are going to be late because of this and that but I'm glad you're here and that's why I :lovestruc chapters in PTR/TR!!!

Sorry to hear that you are feeling crappy, hope things have turned around by now and your feeling better. I had the same surgery when I was young. I think I healed pretty quickly but like you said, it happens that way with children. Hopefully you will feel better soon! :goodvibes

Thanks! Things are starting to clear up except I have huge ulcer type sores under my tongue. We have a call into the doctor to see what might be causing them because they are more painful than where my tonsils were removed. Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I say go for the Poly!!! :cloud9: That's a really unique experience and you should snatch it up if you can! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I see if will be your first stay in a few months! It still kills me though how you pay that much money and some rooms don't have balcony's, they don't have a hot tub, and they don't have a health club but you can use the health club at GF..go figure!
