From reports on other thread... it looks like the 2/25 Western has been diverted to Costa Maya. Let's talk about this..... would anyone RATHER go to Costa Maya? Not like we have any choice of course. Since I have never been to either port... makes no real difference to me. Pros? Cons of each?? Discuss........

Discuss: I've always wanted to go to Cozumel. I don't think I'd ever heard of Costa Maya before DCL started diverting cruises there. Although Costa Maya may get me out of the 8 hours of rocks...um ruins...tour DH wants to go on!

Does anyone know if the sea days remain the same with a Costa Maya stop? I made all my ressies based on sea days - that could mess me up! "Hi, my name is M. and I'm an overplanner."

At this point I don't really care as long as it's Disney and it's warm!

Hi Leslie

One of my co-workers told me that if we end up in Costa Maya...we will not be disappointed...She said that when her family cruised to Costa Maya the excursion they did was the Ruins....she said it was incredible and unforgetful.

If DCL decides to Costa Maya instead for our cruise...does that mean they will open up booking excursions on line or will we have to add an excursion run to the ressie rush?????

As for Costa Maya, I will be kind of disappointed because we had Xcaret booked. However, it will probably be cheaper to just find a nice beach to snorkel off of. Still, I guess I'll have to study up. There are excursions on the DCL site. I'm guessing if they change our itinerary, they'll let us book them.

Oh, yeah. 4 weeks from now we'll be in Cocoa, wishing it was 4 weeks 13 hours from now.

Just got back from an awesome computer teacher conference in Austin and I'm glad to be back on board and getting more and more excited with each post I read!

I really hope we go to Cozumel. I think I might have said before (many times) how much I like Cozumel! I also like that we are there for a long time, so we don't have to be so rushed to get back on board. We went to Costa Maya last year on a Carnival cruise and I can hardly even remember what was there! I was not very impressed and neither was my DH. We were talking about this the other day, and we will be disappointed if we go there again. Of course, that is only our opinion. Other people's differ. I guess we could stay on the ship that day and take advantage of some of the fun things that go on there.

KCarl21, I am so with you about that Notebook movie. I love it! I did like the book better, but even with some of my favorite parts of the book left out, it is right up there for me! WOW!! What a great love story!

sk8ting mom, I think you should follow your Tink dream! You are really making me glad to be in Texas, where winter came and went almost without being seen or felt, when I read about your adventures!

Mort, I hope your flight and Cocoa are wonderful! I really enjoyed looking at the albums you posted of your family. Looking forward to meeting you!

Apparently, you've seen DH drive. We're just viewing Cocoa as a stopover. It was 600 airmiles cheaper than the Best Western in Cocoa Beach, so we're willing to drive an extra 9 miles to get to the port in the morning. I overdid the hotel booking for the night before (Charlotte, NC is 12 hours out of Toronto), but I couldn't find a reasonable stopover in the 10 hour range. Oh well, we'll be able to rest up since we should be in Cocoa by 5 o'clock or so.

Thanks for the compliments re: the pictures. We really enjoyed taking them. I'm amazed you still want to meet us, though.

Well, 2 1/2 weeks to Mardi Gras (we don't celebrate anywhere near as well as NOLA, but there's parties to be found) and then 1 1/2 weeks to vacation.

We too are driving.....also from the Toronto area...when are you leaving to drive down????? I take it you are also doing the 90/79/19 or 64/77/26/95 route to Florida??? I just got my trip tik from CAA and they don't have us taking the 19 through the mountains...they have us taking the 79 to the 64 and then the 77....I guess we will decide which route based on the weather.

We take 19 because they don't bite as long as you keep within the speed limit. And it is faster, easier on the car, and the scenery is even more breathtaking than the traditional route.

That is so funny! Obviously I thought you were flying! How long is the drive? From Houston, the drive is about 18 hours, but we are flying since I have to be in class on Friday before and bright and early on Monday after cruise. I like the drive though. My BIL and SIL live in Tallahassee and that gives us a chance to see them and my niece and nephew. I guess I like the drive more than my husband since for me it is a "ride" and for him it is a "drive" !

I'm Wong: the drive is about 20 hours. We take it over 2 days. It's beautiful going through the mountains, and watching the seasons change from winter to summer.

We're leaving on the 8th...I gave myself an extra day driving down just in case...we are staying with Leslie (DisneyPinDiva) and her DH, Joe on Friday night and heading over to the port with them...our plan is to arrive early enough on Friday to enjoy a few sites of WDW before our cruise....but if you happen to see a black car with personalized Disney related Ontario licence plates on your way to Florida....honk...it might just be us!!!!!

My reservation is gone too! I wonder why they haven't sent anything out. I guess we are lucky, there are a few excursions listed. I guess we will try one of the beach excursions. Bummer...

I too was hoping for Cozumel (some good shopping and my nephew was going to be in playa del carmen on spring break so we were planning on checking up on him for the day) but this will probably be the only time I would ever be in Costa Maya - so that will be something quite different. Since many of us are repeat cruisers, we'll probably be back in Cozumel someday.

Does anyone know if we tender in in Costa Maya?

if you happen to see a black car with personalized Disney related Ontario licence plates on your way to Florida....honk...it might just be us!!!!!

Our car is also black. We have a doom buggy plate in the back left window and a jolly roger in the right. There's a bat hanging from the rearview, so you might recognize us if you see us.

The pictures I saw showed a walk-off pier. We're thinking of doing a non-Disney excursion to Chacchoben.
