March 1-5, 2009 Wonder Cruise

I liked the nametags ideas so I played with powerpoint for a few minutes. I can't post photos yet, so check out the files in this directory:

(Add 'http:" in front of the path above - I can't post links yet either. :sad2: )

The file names are:

Stop me if I am going overboard... no pun intended.

These are awesome badges. You made some great designs. I would vote for #2 -- I like the green background! :thumbsup2 If you get a chance, you might fix it so it says disboards.com (with an 's' at the end). Otherwise, I think they are perfect!!

Well, the excursion is 160.00 through the disney website and I just found a website about shore excursions in Bahamas and they say you can buy the passes for a total of 65.00 at a kiosk when you get off the ship? I think I will cancel and take my chances. We will find something to do...a massage sounds amazing! Good for you, I'm jealous!:cool1: Hey I went back to page 10 and I am looking at that web cam the ship should be sailing soon!

I haven't heard about the kiosk, but I am doing this "excursion" on my own to save a few bucks.

We have reserved a room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island (www.choicehotels.com). We will take a taxi to the hotel, check-in and check-out at the same time. They give us 4 wristbands (2 adults and 2 children) for full access to Atlantis which is right across the street. It looks like right now the room costs $293.00 and they add on around $60 for taxes and fees. That would make the cost somewhere around $85-90 each.

This might be a way for you to save a few bucks and still have guaranteed access to Atlantis for the day. You might want to consider it!

I like this one!!

That's too funny I just said to my husband I think I will cry when they blow that horn. (he thinks I'm totally ridiculous!) I even cry when I see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom!

I cry eveytime I hear that horn!!!!! (I cry at the fireworks also ;) ) My sister was on the Wonder 1 month ago and called me so I could hear the horn play and I started crying then too. How sad is it that I was crying and I wasn't even on the ship!

DH and I are in for a meet & greet. I like the 3pm time (but any time is ok)any where is fine.

Ya, we weren't signed up for the waterpark just the Aquarium and Beach day. I don't really want to go to a waterpark all day. We have season passes to one by our house so I'm just not that thrilled about that idea. I just wanted to do the beach and Aqarium at Atantis. The disney rates just seem high compared to some of the other excursions you can get right off the ship! We will see when we get off the ship what kind of deal we can get? If not then I spent a hell of alot of money for the Mickey pool waterslide!!:yay:

Hey everyone! There were some ideas posted on my other thread about where/when we might try to do a DISmeet. I'll list the ideas and see what everyone thinks.

Places:
1. Promenade Lounge on Deck 4--there's drinks/snacks available, not usually crowded and easy to find each other

2. By the Mickey Pool ice cream station--the kids can play in the pool and everyone can get a treat

3. Cove Cafe --however, this is Adults only so I'm not sure that would work

4. Deck 10 during the sail away party

5. Secret Deck 7--not usually crowded

Times:
1. During sail away party

2. 3:00pm on Sunday (first day onboard)

3. 2:30pm on Sunday (first day)

4. Second Day (Nassau day?)

Here are my thoughts: find somewhere that both kids and adults can be relaxed, not crowded, snacks are always a plus!

It would be nice to meet early before there are tons of things planned.

What time will everyone be arriving onboard? We'll be getting there fairly early as we are at WDW the week prior.

Also, how should we find each other? One group had everyone wear lime green nametags. Any ideas?

I like "4. Deck 10 during the sail away party." My mom will be in her wheelchair for the sail away party and we heard that that was the best place for wheelchair access so we are taking her to Deck 10.

I also heard that if you go toward the front of the ship on Deck 10 when we are sailing away then that is your best chance to see a school of dolphins swimming with you. We'll see if it's true I guess :)

runskyhy - I like #1 and #2

Hey Everyone! Hope you had a good day off...or at least that you had a day off today! :goodvibes

I was taking a little inventory of people's responses to the DISmeet and it sort of looks like meeting on Deck 10 during the sail away party will accommodate the most people. So...now we just have to find Deck 10. DH suggested that we do a "Rose and Jack" DISmeet...hanging off the bow (or stern? I don't know the difference! Think Titanic) of the ship. Oh yeah, he's a barrel of laughs all right.

Does that sound ok? And it also looked like most people liked the green nametag. Any ideas for the best way to print them out? I've been making tons of magnets but I don't think they'd stick to me. :confused3

So I'm going to suggest that we meet on Deck 10 just prior to the sail away party, perhaps grab a snack (for those of us for whom eating IS vacation), wear our lime green nametags. Anyone want to make a big sign on a stick like the tour groups have at WDW so we can all find each other?

We will be leaving next Tuesday for WDW so I'm hoping we can make a decision before then. I guess some others might be leaving early too.

So, what does everyone think? Does that sound good? Will it work?

Can't wait to meet you all!

Deck 10 during the sail away party and Dis tag #2 sound good to me. :thumbsup2

I assume we're making our own tags?

PoppyGirl may I ask what part of Maryland you're from? Just curious, we have some dear friends that live in Crofton.

How big is deck 10? Im not too good with directions and I hope by the time the Sail Away party starts I will be a few drinks in, lol! Ok im just kidding but Im really not sure how to print out name tags so Im gonna need some help with that. Are we adding names to the name tags? i think I missed that some where!

Hey shawna, do you want me to make yours? I am going to use the backs of the old navy name tags, and stick those prints out on the fronts! I can make 3 extra for you guys or we can just make one for me and u (I can't see that it's necessary for the DH's to be wearing them too)Let me know I am going to send the pics to my work email and put them together today on my break! 12 days, crazy! :cool1:

Or just print it to large envelope labels if you have the printer labels.

I'm short (5"2'), so I was thinking of sticking it to my forehead so you all would be able to see it.

Well, maybe after the first margarita. :rotfl:

If Deck 10 is easiest, we'll do that. Having spent my last cruise on the Wonder in a wheelchair I can totally understand the reasoning behind this. lol

Who's making the nametags? I agree the family members not participating on the board don't really need them. hahaha.

Can't wait til the cruise...just gotta make it less than 2 more weeks!
Yea!!:cheer2:

Runskyhy: lol
My friend might do the same. She's like 5'1.

I would make them but not really sure how to do all of that label making stuff. And how are we going to get them to everybody? So, Deck 10 is the top, but which deck is the actual party on? Will we be able to see? :hippie:

From what I can recall in 2006, the cast members and characters held a dancing party on Deck 9 at the Goofy pool during the sail-off party. We stood port-side on deck 10 near the forward 'funnel' so we could check out the party below and then move forward to watch the ship leave port.

What have others done?

Check out view of deck ten here:

Scroll halfway down & click on deck 10.

If I can't think of anything crafty enough, I'll probably just print it out on sturdy paper or glue it to cardboard and then safety pin it to myself.

I'm working from home today and hope to get other things done besides work if you know what I mean!! Packing, etc, etc....Can't wait!!!!!
