We took this tour on Saturday. My daughter didn't want to do a 5 hour Keys tour, but she loves Haunted Mansion.
It is a 3 hour tour, you are asked to arrive at 7:30. Sometimes the busses are erratic, and so I was nervous about that - we got down to the bus area at 7am, and the first bus was right there - However, I failed to plan. The family Tour we took when we checked in we had an assortment of mini muffins and bagels, with juice, coffee and water - They NO longer do this! AND NOTHING is open at MK! The park opens at 9am, so we were out of luck because I failed to plan (I should've made sure, and then I should've eaten something at the resort before, even tho they don't open until 7am, I could've had something the day before - just plan!)
The line to wait to get in gets long, and its in the hot sun. (For all tours, and breakfast reservations - you have your name on their list) Be prepared.
They opened the door (Figuratively speaking!) a few minutes before 8am
There was one other family on our tour - 7 people. We did get the headset, and our guide was very gracious (I explained my failure to plan, she felt we could find something along the way) She talked about Walt and Mainstreet, and we walked over to Liberty Square, lots of information (DD LOVES History and trivia) Then we went to the Haunted Mansion queue, where we were given even more clues, and "easter eggs" and knowledge of all those Imagineers that gave us the HM. We were the first to enter HM, rode HM, then as we exited HM, we got to go around and inside the Backstage of HM! Again, lots of wonderful information given.
We walked over to Pooh ride, with a bit more information (Disney Imagineers play homage to rides past, in Pooh, the Mr Toad gives the deed to Owl in a picture, but there is also a squid from the old 7 Leagues under the Sea Ride too) I believe they used to do Pirates, but its closed for refurb!
Then we stopped at Cheshire Snacks, the frozen lemonade helped along with a muffin.
We walked over to Carousel of Progress and learned a lot about this too!
All in all it was a great way to enjoy Magic Kingdom this HOT day!
Our guide was from TN, and she did not disappoint in knowledge of Disney, nor of her love of Disney!
