Who's going down for the marathon?

I will be flying in on Jan 9th with oldest DS (Ryan); we are staying at the Boardwalk, and I plan on going to the Contemporary on Friday night.

Anybody else???

I'm going down Jan 9-13th. Ruthie, you don't happen to be flying out of Dulles at 7am on that day? Don't think I can make the Contemporary that night unless I can find someone to drive me to my parent's campground when it is over.

:wave2:
Blaine and I will be around. We will be staying off site off I Drive.

I will be there for the Marathon.

I am scheduled to volunteer for the event at the end of the half marathon.

We will see how I am feeling by then.

My husband is suppose to run - but again, not sure if he is going to try this time.

I hope to see everyone there.

Not sure if I will make the Contemporary that first night - as we will be trying to settle in our house.

Hope to see you all there.

Tennis Nut - Are you running this year?

Darlene

I'll be walking the 1/2. I get in Saturday morning, leave Tuesday afternoon. Staying at OKW.

Ashley

No, we are flying out of National; Ryan wants to get a run in before we fly, so we had to find a later flight; we will fly out of National at 10am and arrive around noonish.

I was about to offer you a ride back to the campground, when I realized...........I won't have a car!!!!! Now I have to figure out how I will get back and forth to Contemporary myself!!

Darlene, I hope you are feeling better, and I hope you are feeling well enough to work; I will look for you at the end of the half, but I am in charge of drinks and power gel, so don't know where I am supposed to be and when I am supposed to be there!

Barbara..........are you running or watching??

Were you able to attend a training seminar?

Can you volunteer if you have not attended one of these.

I was suppose to go to training in December, but needless to say was in the hospital.

So I am not sure if they will let me volunteer now.

Darlene

No, Darlene; I have not been to a training seminar. There must be someone you can call and ask.

I actually have a job--and that's making sure Ryan gets his drinks and gel at the miles he wants them, and I am very nervous about this. Ryan has been training for this whole last year not just to run----but to win. At the very least, he hopes to be in the top 10 finishers, so I can't just enjoy it, I have to be able to get where I need to be by the time he needs me there! I am very anxious about this!!

Ashley, we always stay at OKW, but Ryan wanted to stay where there would be more food options. I hope we get a chance to meet.

Are there a lot of people who come to watch the participants??

Hi Ruthie,

Thanks for the information.

Gee, sounds like you do have a very important job.

Good Luck to your Son and I hope to see you in WDW.

Darlene

My understanding is that there's a real good size crowd that watches the race. Family members, regulars, and the folk that Disney has come out specifically to cheer. :)

I'll only be there until Tuesday morning. Anyone want to arrange a chance to meet? Anyone going to the post-race celebration at Pleasure Island? (I haven't decided yet if I'm going.)

Ashley

We could always meet in the Expo Hall at Scoop's old time. If they have taken away the picnic table we could sit in the theatre or go out somewhere in town square. The characters get pulled at 1:10pm to prepare for the parade. I'll be at the MK Friday through Tuesday.

Hi guys! (Hi Ruthie! Do you have all the DA PINS yet?) (Hi Darlene! I've been following the saga of your new home and was thrilled to see it's finally finished! Hope this is a healthy new year for you.)

Anyway, Marg, Tori and I will be at the World for the Marathon, although not a clue where we'll be the day of the race itself. We arrive Saturday morning and are staying at the AKL. Hopefully, we'll catch up with you all at some point, although my Friday meet at the Contemporary will be on 1/9.

Hope you all have a wonderful trip (unless you're staying!) and let's hope we run into each other where it's warm!

Jim

Oooooh, Jim! The Animal Kingdom Lodge!!! Lucky you! I just love the Animal Kingdom Lodge! :Pinkbounc

Would you want to meet Monday @ 1p? I'm not sure the full marathoners will be done/ready by 1p on Sunday.

Ashley

Blaine is registered for the full. But may only run the half. He has been working such long hours, he has hardly any chance to run between moving and working. And I don't know if he has even decided fully if he will be running. ??? My guess is yes -- at least the half.
Anyone needs a ride or anything and we can help, Let me know.

I'll be there playing one of those that watches and cheers the runners. My DW will be running her 3rd. I also know that Tennisnut and her DH will be runnin the half.

Good Luck to All the Runners.

Ruthie, I sent you a PM.

Tim ( cute dh ) and I will be running the half marathon this year. It was great fun last year and tons of people were there cheering.
I was in Corral L last year ( expecting the same this year ).
I think it stands for Last!!!

I just got home from WDW just to wash do some laundry and check in with the varmints ....two and four legged.

Boy, was WDW crowded for NYE. I am glad I get to go at other times too. There was a big gridlock at Canada and people were NOT feeling the magic.

Tim is training for two for the half. Someone has too!

I will finish...it won't be pretty ....but I will finish.

Made some great " new friends" while in Disney this time. The small pin bag really works.

Off to tennis.

Susan
