Marathon weekend?

We're planning a WDW visit Jan 2-9 because my son's Christmas vacation is pushed back a week this year. He returns to school on Jan. 10. I'm starting to worry that the crowds from the marathon will be large, and we're considering going a week later, Jan. 8-15. The rates are a bit lower that week as well. BUT, if we go Jan. 8-15 my son will miss 4 days of school (2nd grade). I know this can be a hot topic, and I'm not trying to stir the pot! Just looking for some advice.

WWYD? Keep it as is and go Jan. 2 or move it back a week?
