My adult children are all in for the marathon Jan8-10.Will we be anywhere near ready to be that close because of COVID? Honest answers encouraged.

I'm in for the Dopey
I suspect they limited the registrations for Marathon weekend due the virus
These races have never filled up this quickly in the past

Lets see what happens to the Wine & Dine Half that is scheduled for November

Everything sold out within an hour, which is _very_ unlikely to happen for Goofy and the marathon unless they drastically reduced the number of spots. Some of the people on the rundisney board contacted rundisney, and it was confirmed that they have reduced capacity, but would not say by how much. There is some speculation that additional spots for the races may open up later if it seems like the world is able to get the Covid-19 situation better under control.

Boy, do I not want to even contemplate DVC not being operational by then. There will be much worse problems to worry about if the economy isn't able to run with some semblance of normalcy by then.

If you want an idea watch the other big races. Boston right now looks like it will be cancelled so keep an eye on New York Marathon in Nov and PTRR later in November for an idea of the chances and of course W&D.

Nothing to do but sit around and hope, right? I'm mentally and emotionally prepared for the risk. Worst case scenario they cancel and we all get a refund. Having gone through the disappointment of the cancelled Rival Run this year, it would suck but it's not the end of the world and at least they're quick to give you your money back.

I think DVC, Disney world and most of the resorts will be operational by then. The parks might still have a limit on guests but more than the estimated 30% for starting out. If I had to take a guess limited capacity will be limited to resort guests first and then pass holders and then if there is room a normal ticket without a hotel reservation. Obviously someone completing the run Disney races should be allowed in as well. So the limits on run Disney could be twofold. Both for the corrals and for limiting people in the parks.

Do you mean Boston in 2021? Boston was already cancelled this year-it was supposed to be Patriot's Day, the third Monday in April.

I thought Marathon weekend often sold out quickly. When DH registered for the Dopey a few years ago, we had to stop at a place along the highway that had free internet-we were traveling, and couldn't chance waiting until we got to our destination.

boston was postponed not cancelled. It is currently scheduled for Sep 14th, 2020 however with some of the orders from the governer of Mass, it looks very likely to be fully cancelled

I'm sorry-I didn't know that. I thought it was cancelled, but thanks for the correction. It's such a tradition!
