Last year someone (Mel? Lilly? Carrie?) posted a packing list for marathon weekend. I was wondering if someone may have that.

I am leaving on Dec 29 to go visit my brother in Mexico and will be flying directly from Oaxaca, Mexico to Orlando on Jan 6! Yay! So...I am going to have to pack early and for both trips. I'm starting to already get out my WDW things and am trying to figure out how to organize. DH is flying from Raleigh to Orlando on Jan 6, but I'll also be packing for him while I pack early for myself... I'm sure I'll pack too much. That far out, I have no idea what the temps will be in FL!

So...didn't know if that packing list may come in handy and if someone may have it or could resurrect it...

Thanks!
Stacie

Not sure where the list is either but I would add to those doing the Goofy, make sure you bring 2 pairs of running shoes. I didn't do this in 2007 and payed dearly with my first blisters in 21 years of running due to wet shoes.

Stacie,
This is a great idea.I have been starting to sweat it out about making a list too. This is the first time I have hoped for cooler temps in Fla.

I may be wrong about this, but I think it was Cam who had the packing list. Hopefully somebody has this, because I used it last year and it was great!!

It's getting close--your longest training walk or run should be coming up--you should be pretty much wearing what you will be wearing race day. No new untested outfits on race day--wear them now :cool1: .

Here's my list so far...

Please post with your list of forget-me-nots...I will update the top of the post for one-stop clicking of what to pack (Newly added items in bold) : Updated on 12/8/04 at 9:00am(Eastern).

************************************************** ********
Photo ID--for picking up race packet at Expo--you won't get one without it!
Official Race Number Pick up card and Waiver!

Running Shorts
Running Shoes
Coolmax Socks
Tech Shirt
Singlet
Sports Bra (Can't forget that-- :earseek: )

Fanny Pack
Body Glide or Vaseline (no chafing allowed!!!)
Fuel Belt/Water Bottle
Gu (10)
Clif Bars
Cell Phone
Camera
Money
GPS (or stopwatch)
Safety Pins for racing number, just in case
Potty Seat Covers for -- you know! Target in Travel Size shampoo section

Post Race Bag with your post race ritual items--check it in by 5am at race waiting area. In my bag: My foot roller, a snack (they have food, but I like to have one just in case), my slippers!!!, a warm long sleeve shirt, warm-up jacket, and my athletic comfy pants.

Sunscreen The sun does shine in Florida in January!! No Sunburns allowed!

Cold Weather Toss-away Clothes
Toss-away Blanket--thrift store find or survival blanket
or a Black Lawn Garbage Bag
Gloves--Target, Dollar Store, wherever

Race Day Breakfast (bagel and fruit like I've been eating at home)

Park passes (In fanny pack if you expect to hit a theme park following the race--or just pack with your other vacation items!)

I would add:
If you have your own Championchip to pack that - take it to the expo to make sure it is being read and then place it on your shoes you are wearing.

I take a small travel size of kleenex, comes in handy for port-o-potties or runny noses if the weather in very cool in the AM.

I would take two pairs of shoes if you are doing two races or more - you never know if one pair gets wet.

As I learned from flying out the CA - be sure to carry-on your race clothes, shoes, etc. (can't take the chance that your luggage will get lost!)

How many of you take your fuel belts? I was just planing on getting water at the water stops... :confused3

Also, I'm assuming they donate any clothing items tossed to the sides of the road? Can I wear a sweatshirt over my bib number when I first start off? Or will they say something to me? Didn't think about bringing a blanket!

Shan: I don't use my water fanny pack at disney. I find the water stops to be well stocked when i get there , i'm a walker, and i enjoy haveing a lighter feeling without the pack. I will most likely use a spi belt. I tried the RaceReady LD shorts at the DL 1/2 and LOVED them. They have pockets on the back side and held my small digital camera, travel size tissues, lip balm, gel and sports beans.
You can wear a jacket or sweatshirt, you just may need to lift it to show yor bib to get into race participant area only. Just remember bib goes on the front for photos, so if your sweatshirt is on, lift it up as you run buy a photographer so you can find your photos. Yes, they donate clothing that has been thrown off on the side of the road.

Thanks guys!!!

I do plan to wear my hydration belt. I've heard that even though the course is well stocked, you don't to take a chance. DH doesn't require much hydration, but I do. For the Minnie, I took water at every water stop and I used gatorade that I had in my fuel belt around mile 7ish and onward. I'm not a big powerade fan.

I've been training w/ the fuel belt and I decided that I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

Thanks again for list. I'm going to print it out now!!!

One thing I don't see listed on these lists (unless I missed it): Cold weather gear!

You never know what the weather is going to give you on race day, so a pair of tights, heatgear shirt, hat and gloves are worthwhile just in case (2006 racers, can I get an "Amen'? :lmao: ) While you probably WON'T need all that, it's worthwhile to pack in your bag.. just in case. My gloves were a lifesaver during the 2006 race...

Kevin :earsboy:

I always take my belt and carry some fluids with me...yes, the course has a lot of water stops and it has been my experience that they have always been stocked.

But if you aren't self sufficient, you take the chance of being thirsty between water stops and not having anything to fall back on...

Take your fuel belts! While I can't imagine it happeneing again, the water stops did run out in 2007. It was BAD.

I am looking at the list and feeling very unprepaired and somewhat overwhelmed. I hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew, so to speak. Most of the stuff on the list, I don't have. I may be in some trouble!!!:scared1:
