Marathon Weekend 2027

SAFD: As an alternative to everyone with Princess feet, I have Hobbit feet. Nothing really fits my feet, so everything fits my feet (except Nike, although they lure me in for disappointment with a nice colorway every couple of years). I’ve worn ASICS Gel-Noosa for a long time because of the colorways and them somehow, shockingly, working well for my feet. A couple of the versions were not up my alley, but there are usually 2-3 years of Noosa available at any given time. I’ve got a few pairs of Brooks and New Balance that are in the rotation, as I think it is helpful to mix things up.

I will readily admit that aesthetics are my priority #1. I’d cut my own feet off if they were ever trapped by some nefarious villain in Nike Monarchs. The more color, the better. The brighter/neon-er the colors, the better. The more gaudy and audacious the pattern, the better. These are loose guidelines and it’s a “know it when I see it” situation. All that being said, I won’t force my feet into shoes that clearly don’t work for me.

SAFD: I rotate between Hoka Cliffton 9, Hoka Arahi 7, Brooks adrenaline 24, Brooks with ears and castles… LOL

The rotation follows mostly weather logic, as the Arahi feel more comfortable in warm weather where my feet tends to swelling up..

The Mickey ghost max 2 have been amazing for all day park walking…

I do have to replace the cliffton and the arahi due to usage… then I went to copilot, created my persona, shared the experiences, the times, the feelings, the pains… and it concluded that I should have never wore cliffton 9 LOL… and that Arahi 8 and Adrenalines should be my go to…. Will see

SAFD: I’ve been mixing it up for the last year but will likely be returning to Hoka Cliftons as my go to as I wear out my Asics (they’re decent, but probably a bit too much cushion). I also have a pair of Saucony Endorphins Im hoping to put to use starting with one of the Spring halfs on the plate.

SAFD: I feel like after many failed shoe purchases I have a really good rotation at the moment.

Half and Full Marathon, 10 Miler and 10k
  • Adidias Adios Pro 4 (My current fave, have a few color ways)
  • Brooks Hyprion Elite 2 (My babies, very limited wear, so far only two races, I feel the ground but also so quick and airy)
  • Saucony Endorphin Pro 4/5 (Ran a lot in the 4 and just got the 5 so we are going to see if Saucony messed anything up)
10k, 5k, and Training
  • Asics Magic Speed 5 (The Speed 4 was bulky garbage but loving the 5's)
  • Asics Noosa Tri 16 (A great every day run shoe that can also perform in a race)
  • Saucony Endorphin Azura (I like but haven't really tested them enough)
  • Hoka Mach 6 (Another good everyday trainer)

I tell the Brooks people every expo to please add a Hyperion model in the rD release and they might get me to buy a pair.

If you like the spectrum of different Endorphin shoes, I highly recommend the Endorphin Elite 2. They have become my go-to race shoe. Very light and airy, but squishy which takes a little getting used to.

I have a new pair of Azuras that I bought because I loved the colorway but also because I like all the Endorphin shoes I’ve tried in the past. Excited to try them out soon!

I ordered these and they were cancelled, assuming like once before with the elites, they actually didn’t have the color way I selected stocked. Nobody local has them and I’m debating ordering again in a while. I’d love to hear opinions after running on how they are, especially compared to the speed 3 or pro 4. Hated the speed 4, moved to the elite 2 and love them but I’m thinking the azura might be a nice non plated cushioned addition.

I stumbled upon an shop online that is based out of Maryland called Holabird Sports. (this might be a known shopping spot but it was new to me at the time) They often will have sizes and colorways still in stock or will release early when other big retailers dont. If you order before 2pm they ship same day for next day delivery. I've had shoes delivered by noon the following day before.

There are so many great races out there and cool places to run. I’ll always have a soft spot for rD (the community more than anything), but escaping the FOMO vortex of Disney and branching out to other races the past few years has been hugely rewarding (and easier on my wallet).

I'm at this point too, I think. I was planning to skip W&D this year but the Mary Poppins medal got me running the Half. Doing Dopey again because... I don't know! I swore I was a one and done and still can't believe I signed up with a charity to do this again. 🤪 For 2028 I am passing on Princess and Springtime to run the LA Marathon. I have my fingers crossed for NYC Marathon as well.

That brings me to my question, with all the enablers here I should get the right answer. My favorite shoe by far is my current race day shoe, the Saucony Elite 2. They just emailed me the new color way drop as well as the fact that the 3 is coming in June. If I wait for the 3 the 2 should go on sale but could sell out fast. I might like the 3 better but I might not. I could just bite the bullet now knowing the 2 fits me to perfection and put another pair in the closet but that’s a pricey pair. I’m going to need another long runs with shoe in the very near future so that’s another bill but does it really matter how much gets spent if you just don’t add it up?
Given Saucony's recent track record with the Speed 4 being a disaster for most people who ran in the Speed 3, I’d stick with the Elite 2 until you know the Elite 3 is a success.

SAFD: I rotate between the Saucony Speed 5 and Asics Kayano for training, and the Asics Meta Speed and Saucony Pro 4 for racing. I did buy a pair of the Disney Brooks shoes during MW this year to use as park shoes too.
