Happy Mouseday - my friend and I have started training for Dopey 2025. We have landed on trying to rent a two-bedroom DVC. I would LOVE for it to be at Boardwalk, but I know that property fills fast and scouring the boards for the right offer takes precious time - time in which that two-bedroom might disappear. If we are ready to rent in February when the home resort window opens, is it worth it to hang around the boards and look through the offers? Should we not take the chance and spend more money to put our request through a company? Or should I just give up on the idea?

You might watch the Rent/Trade board here for a BWV owner and contact them in December or January to see whether they’ll try to book for you. Don’t wait until February - it might be too late.

My advice is to try to find an owner renting BWV points via our DISboards.com Rent/Transfer Board. Start looking for that owner about a month prior to the opening of the 11 month window. Ask if that owner is willing to book as soon as the window opens. Understand that the reservation is likely to be non-refundable. Know that all of the BWV 2 bedroom villas are lock offs. That means you will be competing with everyone who is trying to book a studio (a lot of BWV Members). When the studios are gone, so are the 2 bedrooms.

Rehab should be done by 2025 so if you will be satisfied with a Pool/Garden view, I believe you will be successful.

Good luck!

thank you - hadn't thought about the lockoff competition!

I will keep an eye out starting in December! thanks!

The other thing is to be prepared to book a preferred view room. I don't think you'll have an issue finding an owner willing to rent points and book right at eleven months successfully if you don't insist on a standard view. For a marathon weekend - those standard view studios - and thus the two bedrooms - will go fast.

The owner will probably be willing (or may not be) to try for the standard view, then a boardwalk view, and then a preferred view. Boardwalk and preferred are the same number of points, so that shouldn't be a big deal for an owner, but an owner might only want to rent out a quantity of points consistent with preferred view because they are managing their own points for their own future use.

BTW Preferred view = Pool/Garden view. Originally, Preferred view included P/G and BW view, with BW view being by request. After multiple front-desk tantrums by disgruntled owners who didn’t get their request, BW view became a booking category. That’s why the number of points is the same.

For some reason, this just makes me smile. I love people - both that they have tantrums over not getting what they want, and that they also come up with practical but solely name-based solutions. People are the best

Adding to above. The reservation window opens for owners at 8 a.m. eastern 11-months out from date of arrival. For the time period you want, both BWV standard and boardwalk view studios usually fill within moments after 8 a.m. eastern at 11-months out, and many owners attempting to book right at 8 a.m. lose the battle -- it is simply an issue of whose computers communicate first with Disney's. As a result many owners will not do a rental agreement that requires booking standard or boardwalk view studios for that weekend. Pool/Garden views last longer and can be booked by an owner trying do so right at 11-months out.
