Marathon Weekend 2024

I can't understand the alcoholic beverages, either crossing the finish line with them or parking lot beers. I always feel like I want to heave at the end of a race. I can't imagine drinking! But I'm not really a drinker in general so...
Same! By the end of a race I can hardly stand the taste of my chewing gum. I think a beer would just make me sick. But, I've also been sober for 9 months, so there are many issues with the beer LOL.

SAFD:

Good Morning runDisney All-Stars! It is time for Sundays Are For Disney and this weeks question is: Do you plan a celebratory meal during Marathon Weekend? If so, where do you like to go and when do you go?

My answer: Marathon Weekend, even though we are there for the races we are also there to play in the parks. This will be our 9th year doing this race weekend - can you say addiction… So I really try to balance smart decisions to support my races but also have fun and eat yummy stuff! So we do a lot of breakfasts - have I mentioned my goals around eating my weight in bacon! But we hold off on heavy dinners during the races. But on Sunday evening we go to Boma for our post marathon celebration meal. Love that place!

Wishing everyone who celebrates a wonderful holiday!! Getting so excited, 9 more days!!!

SAFD: my post marathon celebration dinner with the family is usually Le Cellier. Cheddar Cheese beer soup, pretzel bread and a steak hits the spot. Last year we changed it up because I managed to get ADRs to Space 220 for the first time. This year I’m not running the full and I’m going solo so might wait for Monday night in California when I join up with my wife.

Happy Holidays!

SAFD (I don't even know what day of the week it is anymore): I'm generally too exhausted to function by the time Sunday night rolls around. The last 2 years we left early Monday morning, so celebratory meals weren't possible. This year I have a reservation at Tiffins for Monday evening (5:45) but I don't love that timeslot with everything I'm trying to cram into that day. I need them to extend park/restaurant hours so I can move it back an hours. I'll definitely be watching to see what others say since I'm not super-attached to my current choice.

SAFD: Not really. I used to always plan Boma dinner after a race and while that is still hands down my favorite restaurant on property it hasn't fit into our plans the last few races.

Our big event meal this trip is doing the fireworks dinner package at Rosen and Crown.

SAFD: Usually Jiko, this time we’ll be enjoying the Boathouse as it’s a favorite of ours as well as our daughter and we’ll be dropping her back at college the next day. Worked out great for the second year where she’s home for Christmas break and gets to come to Disney with us for marathon week before classes.

Did a half marathon this morning and it was on pace of my half time from last years MW. Let’s go! Bring on Dopey!

SAFD: I don’t really have a celebratory meal on Sunday. We typically leave the next morning, so we are in the parks trying to get on as many rides as possible. I usually end up bowing out early evening to go pack and rest. Last years celebratory food was microwave Hot Pockets from the gift shop inside Animal Kingdom lodge. LOL.

SAFD: We booked Space 220 Lounge for around 2pm. Then, since we're staying at GDT, I booked Toledo for 7pm. I'm sure I'll be deliriously happy to have a simple elevator ride back to my room after running 48.6+ miles.
Nice, Space 220 Lounge…never has that been available for me booking early. I can hope for a cancellation. The lounge is where it’s at with Space 220.

I know that @DopeyBadger has historically done a big doc for us with names/screen names, costumes, paces, landmarks, etc. Billy, we know that you have a lot going on with your family, and that the holidays might be especially precious to you right now. I know I offered last year, and there were a few others who said they would help, but if you feel like you'd rather forego the massive wave of info and the time it'll take to sort/input it, this is something we can take off your plate this year.

I appreciate it. As much as I'd want to do it this year, I honestly don't think I have the time right now given everything that's going on. I can send you or someone else the Excel, Powerpoint, and PDF files to help make the process easier for you all.
