Marathon Weekend 2017!

Christmas to New Year's Eve (and Day) is a special kind of Disney crowd Hell. I did it one year with my (now) wife and actually proposed to her on the trip. I've never seen it that bad any other time. The crowds should drop off relatively quickly after New Year's Day and won't be nearly so bad for Marathon Weekend, although it won't be empty by any stretch, either. That Christmas to New Year's Day is my one "absolutely not" time to go to Disney.
Crowds are really hell right now. But with the Marathon Weekend, we just took the chance for a longer stay in Orlando and celebrate New Year here :-D

I've usually found the crowds during Marathon Weekend to be quite manageable. Not deserted by any stretch, but also nothing like peak crowd times. You should see a significant drop off after the new year.

I'm so jealous of those of you who are already there. 3 more days of work and I'm completely useless.

Ugh guys, my mom, who lives with us, does my laundry (so she handles all my clothes and is in and out of my room all day and cooks all my dinners!) has a cold with a terrible cough! Would taking Emergence-C, Airborne and Zicam be overkill??? :scared:

I have today at work, have Monday off for the holiday, then work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, leaving next Friday! For once I am hoping that a 3 day weekend goes by fast! :)

We have a ton of this stuff along with other "stay healthy" stuff in the house - our oldest is a musical theatre guy and we both drink a lot of water but for different reasons. In any event, I don't typically use any of these things, so I decided not to start now just in case. I'm sure it would be fine, but we fly tomorrow, so didn't want to take any chances. I stuck to water, orange juice and rest. That's my plan for the rest of the week until Dopey.

I am already taking the Emergen-C so hopefully that is helping. I drink tons of water and have been getting 8+ hours of sleep a night so hopefully I am heading it off! I really wish I was leaving sooner just so I could get out of the house, lol!

Lol, I understand! I have a headache and am assuming any ache/pain in my body is me getting sick! I have been taking Emergenc-C for 2 weeks already and I decided to just start using Zicam, since I have some at work. I did not come this far to get sick NOW, lol!! Hide out in your cubicle! I am locked in my office! :)

Really? I've heard crowds have been done this week compared to years past at this time.

I am working remotely today...just one more day in the office (Tuesday). I have been super paranoid at work - won't touch anything without a paper towel. Some of my co-workers' hand washing habits are less-than-stellar...:crazy2:
Drinking that exact same oj as I type this.
It's tasty!! It was on sale 3 for $10 so we stocked up!

I can only compare to April / May and compared to that time, right now, Crowds feel like hell!

But we know, what we were asking for, so no complaining :-)

This morning, I did my first tapering run here in Orlando. Felt like home, cold & windy, but sunny!

Busiest week of the year at the parks. We did it in 2013...have fun!

I started getting clothes together for next week but everytime I check the weather its hotter than it was supposed to be!!

I have a basic idea of what I want to pack. But certain points are temperature dependent! I guess I'll be waiting until the last minute for some of it!

FWIW this Floridian has learned over many years of vacations and runcations at WDW in winter to pack enough options to handle any kind of weather for each race. Our Jan. weather can turn on a dime, so forecasts are helpful for getting an overall idea as to what's expected, but a lot can change in a 24-hour period. Layers!!

This! Not a Floridian, but my parents live there half the year, and we (well, they) have owned a home there for the past 25 years. Based on even our more limited experience, we bring clothes for every possibility. I'm usually a complete minimalist when it comes to packing, but runDisney events are an exception. In 2015, we went from super warm 80s to freezing the morning of that 5K to great weather the morning of the marathon. This is not the time to save space. And if your kids are running with you, it's DEFINITELY not the time to save space. Turns out the cold DID bother our teenage son dressed head to toe in full Elsa costume for the 5K.

@mateojr, however, was very cozy in his Kristoff costume. :)
