There is a hitch... the penance for living in Paradise for 4 months of the year is living in a fiery Hell the other 8 months, lol!


I live and run here in FL and see gators often on my runs around golf courses, parks, and my own neighborhood: you'll be fine! In my experience, they're aware of you long before you're aware of them and they get out of the way - if they were even in the way in the first place. They want quick, easy meals, not to do battle with big, fast-moving humans. And as others have said, this is their slow, lethargic time of year, too.

Sounds like having to worry about gators is one way to improve your speed training.

I was checking out the RD website and came across this. I don't think I opted out of communication from WDW but I haven't received anything from them either. Has anyone else? Or has their timeframe narrowed down to less than 30 days out?

Nah, haven't received anything. Weirdly, I've received 2 Tink weekend emails this month. And there is more information in the Tink weekend thread here than in those emails, so I'm not worried about not getting the January weekend emails.

Coast 2 Coast! Add another medal to the wall...

The lure of Coast 2 Coast led to my first ever trip to DL this year. It's a very different experience to WDW, both race and park-wise. I actually found the races there to be much more accessible.

Oh I'm already getting there. I asked the wife last week if she felt end of august was enough time for her to train for a half, and run it with me. heh. I have her signed up for dark side 5k, but she hasn't really ran since high school so it's a little intimidating for her.

Darn I was hoping we might get them. I don't find the current ones very comfortable and read that the new ones are supposed to fit your wrist better.

We got ours a few days ago and they were the old style.

Any day now. They likely won't be out today because DL half early registration started today. They also likely wouldn't be next Tuesday because that is regular registration for the DL half.

Drop-dead registration date is Dec. 13, and rD's first onsite work day is the 16th. My guess is tomorrow or Monday.

Out of curiosity, why do you think they'll release the info before the drop-dead registration date? I would've thought the window between the registration deadline and on-site work starting would be the natural release point. That would put it on either next Wednesday or Thursday. Not sure where they are physically located right now, but if there was travel required to WDW, maybe narrow that to Wednesday to allow Thursday as a travel day.

All I want to know is if it will be warm enough to wear the super cute tank top I want to order, or chilly enough for long-sleeves. My outfit coordination is taking precedence over corral placement at the moment.

Ahhhh agreed. Right now I'm *assuming* it'll be warm but I am definitely bringing cold-weather options!

I wear shorts no matter what. I'm in Florida I'm going to wear shorts. Florida cold to me is warmer than Wisconsin cold.
