Marathon Weekend 2016

Did anyone else register for the commemorative pin (s), and get confirmation, but not get charged? I noticed when I was doing it that it appeared to not charge me. I registered for Dopey ($550) and the total, before I hit submit, was $586 (all those fees!)....I had clicked the box for the dopey pin bundle...but at the time, I just wanted to complete the registration because I was worried about it filling up, and thought I could just worry about the pins later.

So, I got a confirmation email that I was registered for the pins, and when I look at that confirmation website link, it says I am registered for the pins--but my credit card is only showing the pending charge of $586 for the race....
Stupid question - did you put a quantity in the box?

Hey gang....!
I am caught up in the excitement and considering goofy .....!
There are those who would call me crazy, how many of you who have signed up have never done a marathon before????

I am only considering because I consider RD races to be nonthreatening, any input in the middle of this insanity?!
I did Goofy this year and it was my first marathon. I loved it! I am in for the marathon only this year, simply because my daughter has a volleyball tournament in Orlando this same weekend every year. This year I lucked out and got to see her play on Saturday night, but it meant I was up later than I wanted to be on Sat night. I wasn't sure if 26.2 would be one and done for me so I really made a point to take pics, ride Everest, get a mcflurry... Wasn't sure how I would feel after it. I had a blast! This go round I am running it for a time! I'm guessing I will do the full again in 2017 and Planning for Dopey in 2018.

As of 12:56 eastern:
Walt Disney World® Marathon 1%
Dopey Challenge 75%
Runner's World Challenge 75%
Goofy's Challenge 50%
Half Marathon 50%
Walt Disney World® 10K Sold Out
Walt Disney World® 5K Sold Out

I signed up for the 2013 Goofy before I had completed a marathon but was planning on running a marathon the October before.
Also, I always have thought that the marathon at WDW would the the best "first" marathon since there is ample water stations, a flat course, plenty of entertainment, and TONS of crowd support.

Just make sure you train! Good luck!

The Disney Site is now showing that the 5K and the 10K are sold out! That is under an hour. Still space for the longer races and challenges though. Good luck to all still trying to get signed up! :)

This will be my first marathon I thought about goofy or even dopey but I want to know that I can do the 26.2 before I add anything on top of it, plus with us already doing the 5k 10k and Full if we want to have any park time this trip another race would seriously hinder that so im focusing on the full this go round but probably will upgrade to a Goof or Dope next time

thanks!

Do you think I will still be able to go back and order in about a week or so? I've been spending like mad lately, and I'd really probably be better off waiting until after payday!

Thanks so much for the link!!!

I don't see why not - from everything I've read, they usually have the pins and stuff at the Expo too. I'm going to wait a while before I order - especially if I decide to pull the trigger on the Race Retreat.

When I ran my first half marathon at Disney I had never run a 5K or 10K before. I hadn't done a lot of training and figured I could just gut it out and finish. I did finish, but wasn't exactly proud of that effort until looking back at it now. I am still angry at myself for not training the way I should have and I paid the price over the next few days. I came back the next year for the full marathon and despite doubling my distance I felt much better after the race because I had done the proper training.

I think any of these races/challenges are possible for first time runners/walkers as long as their training is in place. Depending on which challenge you are doing putting in the proper training may make it feel like you have already done a marathon by the time the race actually comes around; however, crossing the finish line is still one of the greatest feelings. I think most events have become very encouraging and non-threatening for most first time runners, but runDisney events are certainly first class when it comes to making everyone feel welcome and appreciated.

Not beeing able to speak to rD.
As I got an email confirmation and my credit card was charged for the 10k, my guess is that rD will eventually refresh my registrations.
I sure hope so.

Is it possible there is a typo with your name? There have been lots of reports of people having trouble pulling up their waivers later on because a digit on their birth date is off.

Does anyone actually know what this stuff looks like or is it just sight unseen?
Sign unseen. Here's a picture of last year's jacket...my friend pre-ordered it and was NOT happy. Apparently you can return it at the expo.

For Princess Weekend (February) my sister registered for the pin towards the end of January ... they're usually available for a while & they have them at the expo
