Marathon Weekend 2016

I don't know if they have increased the number of runners in each corral or if the new proof of time system weeded out some people from earlier corrals, but it looks like I am in Corral G rather than my predicted H. Should be a little less congested after starting in L the last couple years. Exciting to see all of the information, just a few more weeks of hard work before the reward of running the races.

Alright everyone. There does seem to be some interest in a comprehensive dis'er guide for corrals and spectators. I am willing to put that together. Please give me the following information if you wish to be included.

Race
Name
Bib#
Dis'er Name
Costume
Corral
Early Bird/Late Arriver to corral
Front/Middle/Back lining up in the corral
Expected Pace

I will put your time though the calculator based on your projected pace as to when you'll hit key areas and then spectators can keep an eye out for you.

Race-Dopey
Name-Jared
Bib#-22472
Dis'er Name-Barca33Runner
Costume-5K Eeyore, 10K running clothes or Wreck-It Ralph, Half running clothes or Wreck-It Ralph, Full running clothes (Sorry I can't be more specific, I don't plan out my running clothes if it's not a costume)
Corral-G
Early Bird/Late Arriver to corral-Early-ish? maybe? Depends on how the buses are running
Front/Middle/Back lining up in the corral-No clue, being in front isn't important to me so I'm probably toward the back most of the time.
Expected Pace-10:00-10:30. Planning to finish marathon below 5 hours with a few stops mixed in along the way

Noticed that all the races have 3-4 corrals that will contain people running at close to the 15-16mm. Is this normal? I never really paid attention and always thought the last two corrals were for those with no or unverifiable POT.

I think it's the new PoT system, and that people are submitting any PoT - even if it isn't the best time - to get themselves slotted out of the last corral.

So for those doing Dopey, the Corral Assignment listed is for the Half and Full? And there will be another for the 5k and 10k?
ty

Yes, there will be a different corral assignment for the 5K/10K.

In 2014 I was in E for half/full and A for 5K/10K.
In 2015 I was in G for half/full and B for 5K/10K.

I could use some help with this as well for the list I'm making. If anyone could chime in their 2014/2105 Dopey corral assignments of half/full vs 5K/10K it will allow me to make better estimates. Thanks!

I'm in G corral for the full, is it the same corral for the full & half?

I'm assuming you're doing one of the challenges (Goofy/Dopey), but the answer is yes. Whatever corral is listed in the listing for you will be the same one for the half/full. If doing the Dopey it will be a different corral letter for the 5K/10K.

FYI, looks like monorail transport is not listed for the 5K/10K in the event guide (credit to @ChrisNY2). It does appear to be listed as normal for the half/full.

It's been shifting that way since I want to say this years Tink? More people are submitting PoT in that range and it changed the composition of the a bit. It is a bit of a side affect of Disney being attracting a lot of first timers at certain distances. With the rule change two years back and the new systems were just now starting to see how it affects corral composition.

Any experienced Dopeyers who can explain how generally corral placement in the longer races translates to the shorter races? Curious how far back I will be starting in the 5 and 10.

A Google Image search shows me that in both 2014 & 2015, L for Half/Full was in D for 5K/10K.

I was in Corral L for Dopey in both 2014 and 2015 and I was in D both years for the 5k and 10k. If you want to run the 5k and 10k from corral d it is important to get to the front of the corral. Lots of walkers and narrow starting stretch makes it a giant cluster-bleep if you are actually running. Got in the front in 2015 and was one of only about 10-15 people who ran at a decent pace(finished in 26:38); it was a very odd experience and strange to be running virtually alone until catching up to the back of corral c after about a half mile.

Race - Goofy

Awesome - thanks for the tip! I definitely need to finalize my strategy, but this definitely helps!

Thanks it's not anything over the top. Just one of the dresses you can buy (which means cotton but eh I'm not planning to run the 5k). But I'm doing a country themed shows for my costumes (England, France, America, and Japan in that order). So I figured the dress matched the idea.

Two things of note. Someone didn't apparently edit the event guide before posting it because there are several things wrongs with the pickup page:

Second, though I am questioning how accurate this page is. Looks like only one merchandise booth this year instead of the normal two?
