Marathon Weekend 2016

I have been reading along and enjoying everyone's posts about the upcoming race. After completing the dopey this year and heading to California to complete my C2C and the DDD I registered for the dopey again next year. I was having trouble training for the DDD with a lot of hip pain and just found out yesterday that I have a torn labral. I have requested a deferral to 2017 so I hope that goes through. Wishing you all the best in your training and for race weekend. Hopefully I will see you all in 2017

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with your recovery.

Happy Friday peeps. Hope those of you that are running avengers this weekend are having fun. (Also you're at Disneyland so get off the disboards and go have fun, the matterhorn and Soarin both have single rider lines and they are calling for you)

Anyone else have big running plans. I've just got 3 training runs. My running buddies and I get bored of running the same out and backs for long runs so we usually try and plan point to point runs. It makes for a more interesting run, but it's a lot more planning to map out routes and figure out where we need to drop cars...etc.

I have a 17 on Saturday and a 4 on Sunday. I wish I was in Disneyland this weekend.

Question about packet pickup. We have 2 kids (one is 13 and the other 9) that are registered for races. What sort of ID will they require for them? The 13 year old is doing the 10K and the 9 is the Mickey Mile.

I ordered a commemorative pin for my race when I registered. For those who have done the expo before, do we receive that when we pick up our bibs or do we have to go somewhere separate? Thanks!

I want to say that I got my pins with the bibs. There is an extra spot that you sign showing that you picked it up.

I just have my training runs this weekend. Leaving for vacation Sunday afternoon (5 day cruise then 3 days in WDW). This is our getaway trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Hope to get in most of my mileage while gone, but may have to cut a few of the longer runs short.

Once we return, it will be time for that final push in preparation for the Dopey!

I'm weird but I like running on cruise ships. I think it's kind of fun to run on a treadmill when you can feel yourself gradually rising and falling and I think it's fun to run on the track on deck 4 too.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you heel well.

Is it to early to start talking about the weather forecast for marathon weekend? Won't be long before we start having the way to early forecast. Lol
Nope it's never to early. Right now my money is that it will be somewhere between 20 and 90 degrees.

In past years you get pins with your bib. I think there are some commemorative items that you get at a separate booth though.

I've only needed a a signed waiver, but you'll want to have your DL on you just in case.

It all depends on the rocking. I really prefer it when the treadmills face forward. Anyway, I once did 99 laps on the track of a Carnival ship, because 100 would have been excessive (My deck 4 record on DCL is 14 miles ... forgot to log how many laps that was)

In the past it was with the bibs, but at Wine & Dine last week there was a separate booth for all of the commemorative items, including pins. I went late in the day and there wasn't a line, but I heard that line was extremely long at times.

Taking the weekend off to drive back to Texas (*sniff, sniff* -- mostly because that means no park time for me for a while, but I am looking forward to the cooler temps and cut in humidity), but the my heavy weeks of four-day back-to-backs kick off on Tuesday. I'm actually doing my training runs Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-Friday because it's easier for me to do them those days so I can have my weekends free with the husband and for recovery/PT time.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you recover soon and get back at it. Injuries SUCK!

Well ain't that something. I'm not sure about you guys/girls but 50-56 isn't bad, but far from ideal marathon weather. I'll take it 65 or higher. Please be low 40's!

I'm not that worried about the weather. Anything from mid 30's to mid 70's is good for me. I have been doing my training runs in the 30's and even with shorts on it is really comfortable (once I get warmed up that is). No matter what it is I am sure it will be warmer than what I am dealing with in January in MA so it's all good.

I am getting my run in early before work tomorrow. It will be in the low 30's and windy. Now that one I am not looking forward to because then it will feel like the 20's. But, I gotta suck it up. I have a lot of catch up work to still do, I can't afford to take any days off.

Ok, I am such a dork. As I am reading responses to IamTrike, all I can think is "wow, lots of folks are doing long runs on Saturday and I am doing mine on Sunday... Am I doing something wrong? :) Long run tomorrow is 19 miles and is on a favorite route. Going to get up early and try to be on the road by 5:30. It always feels cool to leave the house with a headlamp on and sunglasses in my pack, knowing I will likely need both before I get back! Tomorrow is long and slow; ok, now I am stoked.

My plan is to head out for 90 minutes tomorrow (hoping for 7.5-8 miles, but the time is the big goal for tomorrow) and I am not excited. Weather forecast is for 40 degrees when I'm planning to leave the house. I'm just not in the mood for that cold. I've got my clothing all picked out, but most of my running clothing is in the laundry, so I'm mixing pieces that usually don't usually get mixed. Hopefully that won't cause any problems (I'm normally very specific about which base layers or tanks go under which shirts, but most of my base layers are in the wash and I'm left with one that I don't wear quite as often).

I'm hoping I wake up feeling a little more excited about the run.
