Marathon Weekend 2016

I'm registering for Dopey and then I'm going to try and go back to register Mom for the 5k. If worst comes to worse I'll do that at open but I would like to get it taken care of today.

I'm pregnant and will be giving birth the end of June. Therefore I won't be able to provide an accurate race time at registration because I won't be participating in runs until later this fall. Does anyone know how late I can submit a proof of time in order to be placed in the correct corral?

POT closes on October 6. So you have until then to get placed into your correct corral.

From the runDisney website, here are a few select sentences (the site has much more detailed information):

"Please remember, Proof of Time must be provided between May 28, 2015 and October 6, 2015."

    • "If proof of time is not provided by October 6, 2015, data provided is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral.

    • No corral changes will be made after October 6, 2015."
Does that mean your race has to be within that time frame or does it simply mean that is just the window to provide results? I.E. I have a half marathon on May 9, will that be OK for POT?

Yes it will be fine. I think it is any event in the last 12 months.

(If you're playing along at home, I'm back to 60% Goofy, 40% Marathon Only).

lol I loved this.

I am...fighting with myself! I have an AP that I activated the week before PHM this year, so it is good through mid-February. I eventually want to hit every rundisney weekend as a goal, so I thought hey why not do marathon weekend this time since you already have the AP. I will be in shape already since I am doing W&D this year too. And though I am dying to try a Disneyland race, that seems like a better idea for next fall's avengers race since I'd need to buy Disneyland tickets.

I am hesitating only because I just plopped down the money for W&D registration, I heard it was cold for marathon weekend last year (is that true?), and I have a friend working in London for 6 months that I would like to visit and due to available vacation days (curse you Disney!), that will have to wait until January too! (she isn't sure on her exact return date yet). But, I won't know all of this until much later this summer so waiting until general registration on the 28th would leave me no closer.

If there is anyone who can calm my nerves and tell me how amazing an experience this will be, I am betting it is you guys! :hyper2:

ETA - I would be doing the half. The weather here is just not cooperative enough in the winter to train for a full, so sadly the challenges are out for me!

Well the AP page is causing less problems loading then it did during Avengers. That's nice.

You know for someone who has done 3/4 of a Dopey (5k, 10k, half) you would think I would be a lot less anxious about this registration. But nope this is the worst I've been about registering in I can't even remember how long.

Marathon weekend this year ranged from nearly freezing for the 5K on Thursday to cool on full marathon day,it warmed up every day but never got warm until the races were over.I did Goofy but was at the 10K as a spectator and thought the half felt colder than the 10K since it felt more windy or maybe I just had fewer clothes on since I was running on Saturday.I have a friend who doesn't like cold who's hesitant to do races in colder months just in case it gets cold.In Disney the cold is a bit more annoying than other races since Disney wants you to be there hours before the race starts and then wait until your corral goes off but once you start before you know it you forget about the cold and makes for better running conditions,as long as it's not too cold or wet.Either way it's better than the mid 80's of 2013.I said I was likely going to have to work today and wait until I got home to register for the full, but guess who's sitting at home in front of their computer 5 minutes before noon,it's Disney, getting registered for the race is almost as exciting as doing it.

No kidding! I feel just as accomplished!! And thank you! The 5k at PHM weekend this year was horrible! They said 26 or 27 including wind chill. But I guess if I can survive that... :) GL registering!

I thought the weather was perfect, personally. Waiting for the 5K was a little rough, but once we actually started running it was great. Way better than the heat advisory we had in 2012 and 2013.

Of course, I also am a chronic over-packer who brought lots of layers and throwaway clothes, so that helped. :) And I'm from Ohio so I was used to running in the cold by then.

And I'm done with the registration for my Dopey and my Mom's 5k. January is going to be interesting!

:wave2: from Cleveland! I never did acclimate to running in the winter :( In fact, I actually injured myself! It takes a long time for me to warm up and I have poor circulation so some spots almost never do. So, I do better in warm and humid actually. I have been running at an indoor track for winter races as a result. And I just can't handle going around in circles for hours upon hours on that little track

I'm in for the half!
