Well everyone, I am proud to annouce that I have completed the 4 mile walk that my trainer asked me to dop today and did it in 83:36. I ma so happy and so proud of myself! It is obvious that today was meant to be a day of partying as Pixiechick also went above and beyond the call of duty and walked 8 miles in the rain to finish her goal! Actually- after reading all the posts on the last thread- I'd say we ALL deserve a BIG PARTY for everything we all did last week! I couldn't believe what I was reading from everyone!

Cheryl out lasted the dog!

Ashley went for a change of venue with her run and found that
she enjoys the challenges of hills rather then flat surfaces. (I should be so lucky!)

Melanie stretched outside of walking and did videos as well as walking.

Monica TALKED HERSELF INTO WALKING 2 MILES when she didn't want to do it ( I think this is so great!)

Meme had a week FULL of what sounded like fantastic workouts- and we learned that she is no different then us in that she too talks to herself to finish up her routine! (We really only need to worry about that if we answer oursleves ladies!)

Beth walked almost 5 miles today and she has a haunted house (OH!!!! WE DEFINETLY WANT TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS BETH!!) It is entirely possible that Beth could end up being the fastest amongst us in the running due to the ghosts chasing her!

Mom gave us all words of great wisdom (like only a mom can
:p ) and encouragement. Don't you all just love when she and grammy post and we learn so much?

You are all so wonderful! Keep up the great, hard work!

Karen, I wanted to check in before I head up to bed. I am so proud of you!! You amaze me with how fast your workout is picking up distance and speed!! Way to go woman!! Give yourself a big pat on the back from me!! You rock!!

Good morning Marathoners

WOW we are quite a bunch aren't we! Karen thanks for summarizing all of our accomplishments of the week. That was really neat to read and inspiring too! Way to go everyone!!!!

This is going to be a very busy week for me because we leave for Hilton Head Island on Sat. so I will be busy making sure the house is clean, the laundry is done and we are packed! I'll try and get here and post whenever I can though. My legs are feeling MUCH better today, almost normal :D I am hoping to get my walks in Tues., Thur., and Fri. before we leave. I am planning on walking outside as much as possible now and starting out a little more slowly then I went last Fri. and working the outside speed and running in gradually so I don't kill my legs again.

Karen CONGRATULATIONS on getting in your 4 miles!!!!!!! YOU DID IT, I am so PROUD of you!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
You go girl!

Have a good day everyone :sunny: I'm off to work.

Cheryl

me? wisdom? :rotfl: if only I could remember what i said! :)

anyhoo -- cyber high five to us!!!! you gals are very very inspiring!! karebear and pixiechick you gals ROCK!!

i'll admit to having the attitude of "hanging in there" for the next couple of weeks unti I get my orthotics and adjust to those. This morning my DN and i warmed-up with a mile walk, jogged 3.5 miles (in 40 mins for me) and then walked the mile back home. I finished out with 10 min ab pilates and 10 mins yoga.

that is my schedule for this week both Wed and Fri

have a great workout ladies!!!

Hey marathoner's -

You know.............we do so totall rock. Just think how healthy we are all getting. We will be so healthy and fit come race day!

I ran 1.75 miles and walked 1.25 miles for a total of 3 miles this morning on the TM.

I plan on TM Wed and Fri and doing strength training on Tue & Thu.

Keep up the great job!!

I'm "off" today. Congrats to those of you who are out there getting your exercise in!! I'll be back at it tomorrow and will up my workout....almost n hour early in the AM and then probably 30 more minutes at a faster pace midday...in the heat...gotta remember to pack my water!!

TTYL
~~Beth
PS Karen, I also really really liked the week's summary. You are so great!!

:flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

:drinking1 Keep drinking water!

When our accomplishements are written in black and white, it's hard to ignore our progress. We truly are an amazing bunch of women! Oh yeah, I'm so full of myself!! :)

Karen-you are the best! I can imagine how great you must feel right now!

I signed up for a summer membership at the gym. I need to lose 20-25 pounds. It's hard enough to run, let alone do with dragging all that extra weight. So, it's time for a little cross training! Should be interesting! :scared:

Have a great week everyone!!

I am so very proud of everyone! I am off to try to do 3 miles in 35 minutes. I bought a pedometer but I can't figure out how to work it. I'll let you know how it goes!

Krista:p

Karen that's awesome!

Good luck pixie on your new gym! :Pinkbounc

Hey everyone

Thanks to Molli's WW challenge I just ran another 1.25 miles and walked 1.25 for a total of 2.5 miles this evening. I may be on to something. I would like to run/walk for an hour in the morning, but I never have time. This may be my way to get an hour in by breaking it up. I'll have to try it this week and see how it works.

Hi Krista- Let us know how your pedometer worked and how keeping track of your mileage worked while using it for timing.

Pixiechick- Great job on crosstraining. Let us know what your doing. It's always interesting to see what others are doing.

CONGRATULATIONS - EEEVVVEEERRRYYBBBOOODDDYYYYY!!!! (envision my arms - kind of bent - muscle style (no, no, no, don't check out the flabby part) ;) I'm wooo hoooing, too- did that come across like I wanted it too ? GOOD ! Because YOU ALL DESERVE - CHEERS - WTG - EEEVVVEEERRRYYBBBOOODDDYYYYY!!!!

Well, I must say that I was reading last week and trying to keep up with all of you excercising, but just not much time to post - BUT make sure you know I am cheering us all on!!!! ::yes::

Karen- you keep that up - you are doing awesome - just keep listening to that trainer! I was so happy to read that your DD is coming to WDW too! And, thank you for the summary, too - it does help to see it in black and white - inspirational for sure!

I agree - we certainly are becoming a healthier bunch of ladies!

I tmilled for 3.5 miles this morning and did Curves after work - I kept thinking I was "hungry" today but stayed on plan and no eating after 7:00 is back on for me for this week.

Not sure what I will do in the morning but my alarm is set so I wil be up and doing something and plan on Curves again tomorrow evening.

I'm off to see what Ohmom WW challenge is for the week - I hope to add it to my routine too.

Hugs to all and keep up the good work - we can do it! Yes - we are doing it - we are making great lifestyle changes. I said this a while ago on the boards on our committers thread - it takes like 6 weeks to make something a habit - we are making strides to developing some really good habits :p

well I dragged my sleepy buns to the Y this morning, I may be unto a plan for the summer -- leaving around 7 a.m. and returning just after 8 -- my DDs are home for about 15-20 mins alone but this is the summer to ease into this freedom for both of us :)

I did 20 mins intense intervals on the elliptical and 2 min cool-down; weights briefly for 15 mins; rower for 8 mins. My arms were tired to do the rower last but I had to wait for it. I didn't think i'd make the 8 mins, but remember someone's post that they inched toward the goal so I thought ok 5 mins, go to 6, now 7, so close just finish the 8 and I did it :)

well six weeks to make a habit would take me just to our vacation dates! but i'll put that in the back of my mind anyhow!

have a great day everyone!

This morning was strength training for me, so I did the FIRM Super Sculpting. Everything was in sets of 2, so all muscle groups were burning after the second set!! Whoo hoo!

Molli- Great job on getting through the rower. That's a great way to get through it. I'll have to use that too!

I am going to try to do some treadmill tonight!!

Hi all you wonderful inspirational WOMEN:wave: Hear us ROCK:rockband:

Thanks Karen for the run down of last week, loved it:wave2:

Congrats to all for their progress:earseek:

Walked 1.7 last night and plan to do at least 2 today.

Have GREAT workouts!

Up late today - but still got in 1 mi of tm (jogging) and 1 mi 4% incline - so I was okay with that.

Just stopped by for a couple of minutes I have a 10-15 minute walk to do yet at lunch to get my "check" on the WW challenge thread too :p

Curves for me after work, too !

I got my meesley mile in today. Gheesh! I remember when 1 mile was eternity for me!!! I guess that's progress!!

You guys are all inspiring me to not just restrict my work outs to the mornings, but, if I can't fit it in there- just move it to where I can fit it in- even if it's at night! PERISH THE THOUGHT!!! (What are you all doing to me?!?!?! I'm sure Beth will understand my shock at myself!!!)

Melanie- burning muscles?!?!?! That sounds scarey to me..... maybe I should consider NEVER doing the FIRM! (ahhhhh- that's more like me! :p )

Mom- sleepy buns..... are those similar to cinnamon buns? (Ahhhhhhhh- now I feel way better! :teeth: )

Continue on your healthy ways my friends ! ;)

It sounds like everyone is off to a great week of training again!

I walked outside today for an hour even though it was 88 and very humid. The water left in my water bottle that I took along was warm by the time I was done :sunny: I didn't jog at all because I didn't want to overdo it again like last week so I just walked at a moderate to fast pace. I want to get my legs used to walking on the hard pavement. I'm not sure how far I went, I really do need to get a pedometer.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Cheryl

Hello all!! I walked about 2 miles today in the hot sun. Whew! I don't know how often I'll do that at noon!!:faint:

Congrats again to all for the progress everyone is making!! Karen, I could defiinitely relate to realizing the progress. And that's a big non-scale-victory in your pursuit of better health. You get a gold star for today, my friend!! I will share a story about thehouse, but I'm trying to figure out what to tell within the space here. Plus I want to be sure no one is reading over my shoulder!!lol. I don't want to "pay" for it later.::yes::

ohMom, I also dragged my sleepy buns out of bed for a workout this early morning, and I got dressed, made it downstairs, got my water from the freezer, strapped on my CDplayer and sat on the couch waiting for my sister to come downstairs. Usually I dont' wait for her, but today it seemed like a good idea. That was about 5AM and at 6:45 she woke me and told me she was going to work!!lol So.....hopefully when I head out in the morning I will do more than one flight of stairs down!!lol Congrts to you for getting to the gym!

::yes::

Cheryl, depending on the water bottle, you may be able to freeze it so that it will stay cold. Only problem is when you want to drink it faster than it will melt, but I will often freeze a bottle and then the night before my workout, slip it in the fridge. It will begin to thaw so that I can get a pretty good sip but then it will stay cold, too. Walmart also sells these cool ice cube trays that make ice cubes that fit down inside a sports bottle. Just regular old ice but very long and skinny.

:drinking1 drink more water!!

Happy day everyone!!

~~Beth

:flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

Beth-long and skinny ice cubes, hmmmm, I like that. Whenever I refill the bottle I use to take to work, ice shoots all over the kitchen. And no teasing about the house! We want the scoop!

ohMom: intense intervals on the elliptical! you're tougher than me! I went to the gym for the first time today and did 35 minutes on the elliptical machine-but they were *very* slow. I think I managed at my fastest 140 strides per minute, mostly hung in the low 130 mark. Even so, I was sweating big time.

Like Melanie already said, I really love hearing what everyone is doing. Can you believe we discuss what sports/athletic activities we've done for the day? What a bunch of jockettes!

Hey everyone!

Congratulations to all the ladies that walked in the excruciating heat today. I have to admit I was to zonked out from the heat to move when I got home. However, I did walk around the mall looking for stuff for my Disney trip in 18 days!! (does that count ?)
I tried the pedometer and I like seeing how far I went however the mileage did not agree with the laps I did around the track. I am not sure it could keep up with the running because it only mentioned walking and jogging in the instructions.
I did do 3 miles though in 40 minutes between walking and jogging I do alternating 5 minutes (3 times each). Tomorrow will be my first 6 minute run and then two 5 minute runs.
My DH bought me weight today so I can get back to weight lifting. He went and bought them on his lunch break today - so he surprised me.

My total walk to work each way is about a mile. I walk part of it here, get on a train, and do most of it when I get to work. Of course I reverse it on the way home.

Last night I went down to the track and walked 2 miles, and I walked about a 1/3 of a mile each way down to the track. I certainly did more than 10,000 steps for the day!

I'm still not shooting for time - I don't want to upset my knee, lol.
