Marathon Morning Tips

Good Morning everyone!!
I am running in the marathon this January!!! Unfortunately, I was unable to get a room on site so I am renting a house 3 miles away, which will actually work better with the whole family. I was wondering about marathon morning. Since I will be driving, how early should I leave to get to the start? Is traffic bad? Can I sit in my car until close to start time to stay warm? Any info/tips you would like to supply would be great.

I doubt the traffic will be bad at that time of morning, but I would leave yourself extra time because some of the roads are blocked off. The marathon starts at 6AM, but if I remember correctly, we had to be at the start around 4AM. I'm not sure if they allowed cars in the parking lots where you could sit for a while to stay warm. I saw lots of buses, but no cars.

I agree with the PP who mentioned the WISH board. There are many marathon threads there and they were very helpful to me the first time I ran.
