Besides actually finishing the event, what are your goals for the 1/2 or full?

Fo me, I'd like to finish the 1/2 averaging under 12 min/mile, without exhausting myself.

For the full, anything under 6 hrs would have me jumping for joy (if I can still move by then ;) )

Oh, I think finishing will be plenty fine for me thanks!! :rotfl:

Now, that said, there are a couple more....

1. If my training goes well, I would like to be able to finish the full in under 5 hours.
2. I want to try and enjoy it enough that I want to continue to train, run races and do the Goofy in '07-- then maybe try out some other marathons, etc.
3. I want to look REALLY good for all those pictures they take along the course. I mean, big smiles, etc. The works.
4. I want to REALLY HAVE FUN! I will have worked hard to get to that point. After the race starts, it's celebration time!

Ha,

My goal was to finish under 5 hours...now I am hoping to just make it without being swept off the course. I have been trainging, but I am finding it difficult to break the 13 minute mile barrier.

Who knows? Just under 16 weeks to go...maybe by some stroke of luck I will get down to 12 minutes a mile - which would be a great achievement for me.

Since this will be my first, my main goal is to finish ahead of the buses that will be trying to catch me. I envision myself 3 inches in front of the bus and being chased down by a CM because I refuse to get on that bus :rotfl2:

I would also like to be at the point where I am still feeling good enough to enjoy the rest of the day. DS and his cousins are doing the 5k & I would like to be there for it & not laying on the ground wimpering somewhere.

Next year I will have different goals I'm sure.

Since my first 1/2 marathon was 3:19 and my second was 2:59:59, I'm hoping I can do this one in under 2:45 minutes. Not sure if I can, but its a goal I'd like to shoot for. Who knows, I may be trying to just stay under 3 hours again!!

What a great thread!

My goals are:
1) FINISH (this will be my first full marathon)
2) finish sub 4:30
3) have fun
4) be able to enjoy the rest of the day with bouncing DS (5)
5) be able to park hop with ease the next day

I'm not sure #2 is possible with #3-5. That part is still TBD. Worst case scenario, I hope to average a 10:30 pace (finish ~5 minutes over 4:30).

I don't plan to carry a camera or stop for the characters, etc. But I do want to enjoy the atmosphere along the way.

This thread is great because it reminds me to keep #3-5 in mind. I tend to get obsessive and think only of #1-2! I'm going to write my list down in my training log.
