The marathon finally closed today. They added even more runner to increase the limit to 22,000:eek: It will get crowded and tight in certain parts of the race as the extra 5,000 runners help fill the course. Would surprise me to see the race get to 30,000 just for the marathon.

BTW: They increased the 1/2 to 20,000(up 2500 from last year)

We leave 2 months tomorrow:banana:

Good training and Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the info Robert. Wow! lots of folks. Now they should also add more Goofy slots.

20,000 people for the Half this coming January? Wow. That's a lot of folks. I've not done an event this large before. The Minnie 15K is the largest for me. I'm a little nervous. :goodvibes

Stacie: Don't be nervous, we will are be there aiming for the same goal - to finish!! RIGHT??
Plus, lots of WISHers to get you going!!

Tracy

The last thing they need to do is add more people! It's SO crowded during those first few miles...I can't say I've experienced that at other races I've been in.

I agree, Scott, the first mile of the half course was insanely crowded. Robert, I think it was you who said the course starts further downstream towards World Drive this year, so maybe we'll avoid that "one lane" bottleneck that made the half start infamous.

But still-20,000 is a lot for the way that course is laid out.

They are pushing the start back and the first few miles the whole road will be open on the way to MK instead of just some of the lanes. It should help.

Bottlenecks coming out of MK to GF is a really bad spot for both races as runners/walkers are in the grass, in the 1 lane, and off into the traffic lane. It will be interesting???

Here's a thought for the crowded start lines...

Cross the start mat, run to the EPCOT Monorail Station, catch a train to Ticket & Transportation Center, run the Magical Kingdom, repeat back to EPCOT, cross the finish line. :lmao:

I may just Boston Qualify this way :rotfl2:

Nah, you all know me better than that. I'll be yelling at all my WISH and Disneyrunning teammates along the way. And don't forget to smile if my camera is pointed your way.

I know the road will be more crowed but I like to see people out there doing it. We and what we do is a cure to the biggest problem our country faces, not the economy but our personal fitness.
