What happens with the AK/AKL end of Osceola Pkwy during the marathon? How do buses/cars get out of AKL to get to the parks if it's closed entirely?

The primary exit from AKL is Sherberth Road to 192 then east or west. Also, if one is patient, and really wanting to be on property, one lane on Osceola remains open from the point where the race enters Osceola through the Buena Vista (*** Stars) exit.

We, the marathon uses the DAK parking lot exit. Bus traffic does not use that exit from DAK but will be affected by the traffic snarl of the one lane section on Osceola. For guests wanting to leave the park; well, its not easy. I believe that they are forced through a small exit near the parking lot toll booths then forced to head towards AKL and then fight the traffic out.

Anyone who has spectators who want to watch the race from the DAK area should advise them to ride the bus or be willing to stay in the park for a couple hours until the parking lot and traffic fall off. The good news is that the race clears the park area by 10 am isn

Aaaah, okay - that makes sense; I forgot about the AK exit ramp! I'm trying to figure out my best bet for getting from AKL to DHS mid-marathon morning - and will be leaving for home from DHS, so my preference is to drive. But I couldn't figure out how in heck I or any buses would get OUT of AKL, lol!

So do you think it's worth taking Sherberth to 192, to I4, to exit 65 to Buena Vista, or just deal with the traffic for the short span on Osceola between Sherberth and Buena Vista?

I will freely admit that I have only seen the traffic from the left lane of Osceola while on foot. Like everything, the back up has been almost nonexistent to seeing a line of cars as we run through the underpass. The big deal is that you have to make your decision before seeing the traffic back up. I am betting (depending not he time of day) that the Mouse will help you select the direction you go i.e. wave you over to Sherberth. It may even be more that way this year sense they will want to create a weapon/runner buffer in as many spots as possible. Final thought, I am a if the wheels are turning, I am better off kind of driver so I would opt for Sherberth The light at 192 will be whacky and there are a couple short cuts at that end. I find that those short cuts send you the wrong way if you are wanting to head east.

Good Luck

For someone I've never met, you know me well, Coach ;) Yep, I'd rather be moving than just sitting there, too - even if it technically takes longer, lol!

Thanks a bunch! I'm still playing resort roulette, so this may all be for naught - but at least I've got an idea of what's in store if we stick with AKL. :thumbsup2

You bet I understand you.... I set on the 275 bridge for an hour headed into town late in the afternoon last Wednesday. It reminded me of Houston where I learned moving is good.
