Mara's at AKL?

Has anyone eaten lunch at Mara's in AKL? If so, what was your opinion of the food and atmosphere?

Mara's is the AKL quick food service place. I enjoyed the Pasta Primaviera, the individual pizza, the fried shrimp. They also have hamburgers, chicken strips and many other offerings.

Are you staying at the AKL? If not I would not go out of my way to have lunch here. If you are thinking of coming over to the AKL to look at the animals and grab a quick lunch I would not advise it. The animals are not that active on the savannas between 11am and 3pm. The best times to view the animals is around 7am in the morning and 5pm in the afternoon. I also had some nice views at 2:30am but unless you are staying in a savanna view room that would be hard to do

We had dinner at the Mara once - and that will be the only time. We were disappointed in the food. Hard to put a finger on why. The selection didn't do anything for us, the food came out luke warm and was average at best. It wasn't the cheapest quick eats in the World. The service was average at best. the atmosphere screams 'cafeteria'.............

OK, I guess I did put my finger on it . Ours was just one experience, but we won't be going back.

We ate lunch there in May 2002. I had curry chicken on skewers, but I thought the curry was a little too strong for my taste (if you like curry you would probably like it though). My mom had fried shrimp that I tasted and thought was outstanding, particularly for quick serve food. The atmosphere is pretty cute for a fast food type restaurant too.

The food was pretty good but I really don't have an opinion one way or another on the atmosphere. I guess it's okay for a food court.

The food was okay. We only ate there the one time because we were busy and only spent 3 nights at AKL. No one complained or raved about the food. I had an average pizza. The interior of the food court area is nice and clean and moderns. The seating area is decent and has some metal sulptures on the ceiling but was a bit bland, nothing like at Port Orleans Roverside which is my favorite as far as atmosphere goes. We ate outside.

I ate there when I stayed there June 01.
Mostly we ate there for Breakfast. We like to grab a quick breakfast before we head to the parks.

It's pretty standard disney cafeteria food. The new electronic menus are cool. They have a TV in the corner playing Disney movies.

Oh, and it is also the place where you buy and refill your refillable mugs, if you buy them. The great part about Mara's was that it was next to the pool. So if you bring your mug with you to the pool, you can just pop inside and get a drink when you get thirsty.

Hi there...

Mara's has no atmosphere to speak of.. it is just like a cafeteria.

The food was standard food court fare... I had tandoori chicken pizza and caesar salad which was good.... My daughter had chicken fingers/fries whicher were fine.

They do have TV's with Disney videos on while you eat if you want to sit at a table near a TV.


Boma is SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer....
