Mara in AKL

Typical fast food offerings, but the best brownie I have ever had in the "to go" case--Simba paw print brownie--unbelieveable! The pizza was good, and I think there was a wrap sandwich that we tried.

We stayed at AKL in Dec of 2004. I thought the Mara was really good. we mostly got hamburgers and pizzas, but they had a good selection of other things too. By the way, it's the only place outside of Boma that you can get ZEBRA DOMES!! Though actually, I liked the little chocolate mousse things better. You get 3 zebra domes and 2 mousses for about $3.00. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

The usual food court Breakfast items, but a little more limited then Value or Mod food courts. No Mickey waffles! Also some interesting selections not available elsewhere for other meals like African stew in a bread bowl. My picky 14 year old tried it and loved it.

They had Mickey Waffles when I went there last year. The breakfast looked very appetizing, the way they had it displayed in the case. It made me hungry!

I don't think it's worth a trip to AKL, but if you're staying at AKL or just want to walk around and look it's a good place to grab a snack or a quick CS meal.

If you decide to eat your meal in the outdoor eating area, you may experience a very "Hitchcockian" moment.

They had mickey waffles in December....

Also, there breakfast pizza is really good.

although it is not as big as the food courts at the values or moderates, it has a good selection of hot foods and prepackaged/premade foods as well.

They also have indoor and outdoor seating.

We've eaten at Mara several times since 2001. My DH really enjoyed the African Stew and by DD and I love their soups, especially the Butternut Squash. Some of our other favorites are the fried shrimp platter, bacon cheeseburgers and most of their desserts. I think the breakfast foods served at Mara are about average, good but not great.

:rotfl: This is very true!

I also wouldn't recommend making a special trip over there just to eat there, however if you are staying at AKL it is a very good option for quick meals. We had several meals there during our recent stay, including yummy crossiants for breakfast, a delicous breakfast wrap, the African stew in breadbowl, and pretty decent standbys- chicken fingers, burgers, etc.
