Mar 28 2010 Wonder 4-Night Bahamas - The Tim Hawkins Cruise

So excited. Just not sure about Palo. We want to do the brunch just not sure if its offered on the 4 day. If it is was wondering how it works. We are staying at the Radisson at the port.

Tink lover - unfortunately, I didn't go to CSS - I went to St. Kate's, but know quite a few CSS grads.

My understanding is that the brunch is offerred on the 4-day, not the 3-day cruises and it's on our sea day. We're debating on whether to go as well. It sounds like the brunch is a little more casual and the menu appealed more to me.

We're staying at the Radisson as well. I'm a little nervous about the shuttle the next morning after reading some of the threads here.

The tips I've gotten from Dis have been great. I've added a power strip to give us extra outlets and clothes pins for the curtains to my list. I'm intrigued by the idea of bringing a Magic Bullet to mix frosty drinks, but am not sure how that would look going through airport security. :rolleyes1 I would love to hear from some of the experienced cruisers if they have a short list of "must haves" that us newbies might not think of. Some of the lists are really long and we won't have room to bring all of it.

p.s. I have to say that the dancing banana emoticon always makes me smile. Today was one of those days when I needed that. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Hi everybody..
number one must have is an over the door shoe holder. Make sure the pockets are clear. IT WILL SAVE YOUR MIND! Hang it over the bathroom door. In it you keep all the little things your lose in your room, sunglasses, door keys, suntan lotion, camera.... whatever you need to keep things sane I will add things as I think of them on this thread....
Palo brunch is one of the the best meals I have ever had in my life. Prepare yourself to eat so much you cannot move. The waiters will give you a tour of all the foods, and explain them all. OMG it is worth it if you can get your kids into the clubs(mine never left the clubs :) ) and catch a time for yourselves. I may be travelling as a single parent and may ask to join one of you rather than eat alone!!!
More later....

Yeah!! Cruise paid and ready to book excursions!!:cool1:
Who else is going to Atlantis? I have Comfort Suites booked but will have to book one excursion since rooms are limited to four....or is there anyone that has comfort booked that has less than four people and could divide cost up?
Or should I try for a day pass? ...which I guess I am leary of doing since its spring break..

Jama.. we might have an empty spot on our Atlantis day... will know soon
We are booked and paid, spa massage at castaway booked, looking for someone who would like to share brunch at Palo, I have booked for 2 but there isonly one of me....

I have to check if the Palo brunch is still available. I would like to have a "date" with DH. My kids were not into the clubs the last time & stayed with us most of the cruise. Hope they think the clubs are more fun this time. My 14 year old will be going to Aloft which freaks me out. I am not comfortable with her walking around the ship on her own.

Hi Fellow Cruisers!

We booked this back in Nov. 2008, but kept going round and round about what we really wanted to do for Spring Break 2010. Well we finally decided last week and are using some DVC points and paying cash for 2 kids (I know I could rent, but the pain just isn't worth it for not much extra cash when it's all said and done).

We are: Mom, Dad, DD 14, DD 12, DD 10 and DS 8. My 14 y.o. is excited about hanging in the teen room and meeting friends her age, but my 12 y.o is very bummed to be with the "kiddies". She will be 13 in June, so I am gonna try to let her hang with her sister. I do know that they won't be going to the teen room after about 9 pm or so anyway as they are early sleepers (especially my 14 y.o.). It will be a very bad cruise for my DD 12 if she can't hang with her sister (who is also her bff) and thus a bad cruise for Mom & Dad if she is miserable.

We got the SPH rooms 5022 & 5024, which we have had before on the Wonder. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise, did Spring Break on the Wonder in 2003 and a 7 day Eastern on Magic in Nov. 2005.

Anyway, that's us, and looking forward to meeting all of you on board!

Jennifer

mommykds:
I understand the worry but as a veteran mom of teen club, let me say they are great. Last time they even told the kids that security would put them on room arrest of they got outta control(who knows???)
The teens do tend to wander around at night ansd gather in the stairs areas to talk but they also open the gym and have LOTS of organized things for them to do. I can let your daughter talk to my 15 year old, a seasoned Discruiser, who will be there, too. Just have her send me a PM and they can "talk"
Palo is wonderful both evening and brunch... try to go as many times as you can.
One note, one night, my husband and I went to Palos. Our kids went to the dining room on their own. The wait staff, who by then knew the kids, made such a fuss over them they never wanted to go with us again. Also, they can stay in the kids club and eat(orat least they used to...)
feel free to ask anything...I am starting my gift bag surpise bags tonight... whoopppeeee!:hippie:

Mommykds, jmkclee and mickey world- I sent each of you a PM....My mom and I are going on the cruise with my 14 yr old DD (as of April) and she is interested in meeting kids her age prior to the cruise. Thanks...this discussion board has been wonderful in planning our 1st cruise and can't wait for the day to get here!

Jennifer - my dd will be 11 when we cruise, and I have a ds 8 and ds7 - so if the kids want to correspond ahead of time, let me know.

I need to vent a little bit about something that happened with our cruise. I'll vent, then get over it. This trip has been a long time in planning. The date has been moved a few times due to the original cruise date getting moved because the Wonder was going into drydock. I booked 2 staterooms across the hall from one another. It wasn't until the most recent email where we could register stuff that we were notified our cat. 11 room had changed to another deck!!! I called, and was told that last March, we changed a name on that room - well, yes, we did because they made a mistake and put my dh name in both rooms. So my name was put in for his name on the cat. 11. At that time, they released that room. And reassigned us another cat. 11 on a different deck from our other room. WHAT?!?!?!?!? I spent almost an hour on the phone with them this week trying to get that changed. They finally got us on the same deck, but no where near each other. I'm a bit ticked about that. I know I'll get over it by cruise time, but really, the room shouldn't have been released in the first place. OK. Vent done. Lesson learned. Moving forward. Thanks for listening.

My boys 14 and 13 are so excited for this cruise. My dh showed them some pictures and info he found today. It has made them more excited. I do think my 13 well not be doing then teen group because he'll turn 13 on the 18th of March. He is excited about flubber and the baking if they are still doing this.

My 14&13 ds are so excited. Dh should them pictures and info he found today. It has made them more excited. Not sure about the youngest doing the teen club. He'll turn 13 on the 18th of March. He wants to make flubber and bake cookies if they are still doing that.

I was looking at Fish Extenders on ebay... if you want to participate, post your name and cabin number and I will start a list. Although my ki8ds are 15, they are ready to play!

Hi Jennifer,
We are in 5018 on the Wonder. I have a DD10 and DS8. This is our first time on a cruise and would love to hear your opinions on excursions. We are also DVC members, but we booked using the KFO promo.
Lisa

Count us in on the Fish Extenders. DH isn't going to be happy about hauling extra stuff with, but I know the kiddies will love it and that's what this vacation is all about! We're in 6014 and I have DD8-Amanda and DD6-Katie.

Stacy

How do we find out are room number. I've tryed looking but can't seem to find it.

Hi everybody... we are in room 6556. I am ordering my fish extender te beginning of Feb. If you noticed, some disboards groups can get really into it, actually my best friends I met several years ago on a cruise.
If you would rather just go by first names, that's fine, I will start a list soom. Let me know if you are interested in FE and we'll start planning!:cool1:
Judy (and the girls Hannah and Rachel, both 15)

lovegrumpy-

You should be able to go to the Disney website and see it. If you booked a GTY room, you may not have it yet. If you used a TA, you could try calling them to see if they know or would have an ETA on getting a room assigned. I know we've had our room number since we booked. I've tossed around the idea of looking into an upgrade at the port, but am not sure if I want to spend the extra $ and am guessing the cruise will be pretty full as it's spring break.

Fish extenders - do people usually use last names? It doesn't matter to me. I've ordered a FE as this will be our first cruise and our last name will be on it, so last names are no secret for me.

That must be why. I think we did book a GTY room. Not sure about the fish extenders but would love to meet all of you.
