Maple wood floors....do they hold up?

In my search for budget friendly wood flooring, I keep coming back to Maple! We love the way Maple looks, but will they scratch easily? Will they hold up better or as well as Oak would? If you have Maple floors, give me your experience please

I have maple in my kitchen. It's only been in about 18 months, and it's the "Rustic" grade, which means it has lots of variation, which we love. We have a 2 year old and a 3 year old and are NOT gentle on our floors. It's held up beautifully. Maple's a very hard wood, so I'd not expect it to dent easily, and ours hasn't. As for scratching, that's often a function of the finish rather than the wood itself. We got ours from Lumber Liquidators and have been very happy with it. Now I just have to save up enough money to do the rest of the first floor!
