Many SSR resales

I counted 19 SSR resale on TSS. Is this normal or high for a new resort being sold? Did OKW,VWL, BCV, and BWV experience a proportional number of resales on buildout and sales.

I think that the high number of SSR resales is normal. Some people get in when they can't really afford it and they tend to figure that out after the first year of paying dues and coming up with Christmas money all in the same month or so. The reality of visiting the parks with sufficient frequency to make the purchase worthwhile proves harder than originally thought. Those who are in after the first year or two are more likely to stay in for the long haul.

I notice a lot of the contracts are stripped to June of 06 and even a few that are April of 07. I think this means what the previous poster said or that someone wanted to take a trip kind of cheap and get their money back.

I think it is unusual. When I bought BWV in the fall of 1999, 3 years after opening, BWV resale listings were few and far between.

Who would buy a contract with no points til 4/07? That's like buying a new car and making payments and paying insurance on it for almost a year and a half before ever physically getting it? Just curious.

I think this is related to the current promotion Disney is running. Many of the advertised prices are greater than the price buying directly from Disney (with their current promotion). There aren't that many listings for the more desired resorts - Wilderness, Beach Club, Boardwalk and Old Key West (which are being sold at a discount to Disney's pricing).

I think that there are probably folks out there who want to take the trip of a lifetime or want to have the ability to stay in a condo-style unit, buy the points, plan & take their trip, then sell the points, thinking they somehhow beat the system...and who knows, maybe they did. I guess if oyu think about it, you buy X number of points with very little downpayment, plan & take your trip fairly soon after your contract closes, then sell it quick. You have stayed in a deluxe accomodation at a relatively cheap cost. SSR would be the most logical "victim" of this type of purchaser, because it is the newest and has been running buy-in specials.

I also agree with the poster who said that there are probably also folks who thought they could afford it, and now here we are at the end of the year, dues are increasing, money is tight, so the DVC has to go.

with the low cost of 83.30 a point right now thats been running since mid october probaly got some people to think not so clearly and jump on some points. and now its coming time to pay your payments and and pay your annual dues. but the prices of some of those resales is up there.close to the 83.30 and you get this years points. 83.30 is an excellent price i know i jumped on some points, hopefully my overtime will still be there if its not i will sell to.
