We will be spending a couple of days @ Vero (1st visit) before tackling AKL in a few weeks. My DD love to search for shells but I am unsure of what we may be able to find as I know it varies so greatly from shoreline to shoreline. What are your experiences?

I think the gulf coast has better opportunities for shells. However, since VB is on the Treasure Coast, you may very well find some Spanish Treasure as you look for shells, so it's worth spending some time!

PS. On that note, an adult may want to go to the tour of the resort, Hidden Treasures of VB, or something like that. They point out how Disney incorporated the history into little touches at the resort.

Don't even get me started... If you only knew!

We have shells up the wazoo. We visit twice a year, and my wife promises me she will not collect more shells. Yeah right..!!
She has it down to a science. Early morning after the water is rough is a good time. The rough water really churn up the shells.

On a side note- I believe it's actually against some sort of ordinance to take shells, or even sand from the beach. Of course, I have yet to meet anybody that actually cares, but I'm just passing along the info.

As Bobbi said... Don't forget to keep your eye out for treasure!!

Vero has more shells than places that i have visited on the Gulf -way more.

One of our favorite things at Vero Beach is to walk up and down and collect interesting shells. Next time I am taking a lingerie bag with us to kind of rinse them off.
