So we decided to go down a day early. I was looking to see what type of room we could pay for assuming that we would not be able to add a day to our res since we are 3 weeks out. We have a one bedroom savanna view at Kidani for March 19-26 and now March 18-26. But I called DVC and they were like no problem we can get you another day in the same room. A one bedroom Savanna view really. The cast member said they have had a lot of people calling and canceling. Any thoughts on why it was so easy or why so many people are canceling? :confused3

Gas and jet fuel prices going up again...and given world events could go higher than they have in the past. Job reports are getting better but still not strong enough (my hypothesis) to withstand a crisis in the energy market.

:wizard: Super congrrrrrats!!!!!! WOW!

Maybe it is air fare.. ???

I am prob canceling a F and W over Halloween at BC :scared1: due to air fare being too much. I am checking but nothing until 220 PP, and that is about 60$ PP more than I ever paid including then flying back last Christmas eve... I will keep my eyes open until 31 days in advance.. but it will cause me to cancel 31 days out ...someone's wait list will make there day, if I cannot find something reasonable in my book back to looking ....:bored:

Maybe because many are selling contracts before the Tiered benefits apply?

I don't know, but could someone with an SSR studio the week before Easter please cancel a few nights so I don't have to go to Pop in the middle of my trip? :rotfl:

man dont cancel halloween due to airfare! the best halloween rates dont come out till august.

a bunch of schools are losing their spring breaks due to snow days too.

We just tack on the extra days at the end of the year. Just waiting to see if it's going to be 1 day or 3days. New govenor wants to go back to 5 calamity days(which we've had in place since I started school) from the 3 days the old governor put in.

I graduated from our district and only once did they pull days from spring break(that was way back in 1978). That fall we changed to starting a week earlier, so we have a week cushion at the end of the year.

I asked if they ever would cancel all or part of spring break, response from school district was, "we could but too many teachers book trips then, probably more than students' families."

And yes in the past we've seen teachers and principals at the airport at this time of year.

If anyone was on the fence for booking this summer, maybe you should call MS. Because not everyone cancelling spring trips is going to be able to bank and might rebook for this summer.

I'm still going with my Mom sprinkling pixie dust from heaven. :wizard:
My kids school has a 2 week spring break but they also go to private school and have not been off remotely as much as the public schools have. I think they may have only missed 1 day or 2 tops. They have a bunch of late openings though.
We live in Delaware and we drive down so gas is a worry but I'm going to budget almost a doller higher just in case. Darn gas why do you rule the world.:sad2:

I think it's all the school snow make-up days. This has been a brutal winter for lots of states.

just called MS and we are still on wait list for March 14th at AK--resort is totally sold out for that night but still waiting for pixie dust.

I also think it is the threat of the cost of gas. I actually just booked airfare for July today (:cool1:). They are calling for gas prices to be $4 or $5 a gallon over summer so I don't want to risk it. I paid much more than I normally would at $250 each and that is at an airport 90 minutes away (Lexington). I booked AirTran, so I can always get it refunded if it goes down, which I highly doubt.

I've been watching the prices almost daily. Last week when gas went up $.40 a gallon the flights went to $500 out of Cincinnati! Thankfully they went back to "normal" after a couple days. Whew! The thought of driving to Orlando makes me want to cancel also LOL!
