my daughter in a wheelchair full time and now on a seizure med that we need to avoid sun as much as possible we have tried unbrellas but we have to push her and it is too hard with the umbrella blocking our sight i have searched online and found a lot of shades that you can put on electric w/c and evc but cant find anything for manual w/c i thought maybe a stroller shade but didn't know if you all might have used something you could recommend

Unfortunately, I think you would have the same problem with sight being blocked with a sun shade as you do with an umbrella.

Your best bet is to have her wear sun protective clothing and go early in the morning and late in the afternoon/evening. Also when you are walking between attractions, stay close to the buildings in the shade as much as possible. Don't forget a hat and sun screen as well. Neutrogena is the one I use. They make very high SOF formulas and some for children that you can put on while the child is still wet for pool use.

I agree with Piper.

We had tried using an umbrella when our DD was little, but it really didn’t work well. It didn’t block the sun very effectively. It was in our sight, prevented us from seeing her/her from seeing us and in our way whenever we needed to move or transfer her.

People who have rented the sunscreens for ECVs have reported pretty mixed experience too. Unless the sun is just in the right place, the sunscreen won’t block it; they work best when the sun is straight overhead. And, then there is the problem with blocking the view.

My suggestions would be to use a hat, sunscreen, clothing that has sunscreen properties and to try to go to the parks early or late (the sun is highest and more of a problem between 10 and 2).

We had the same problem with DD. She was very resistant to hats, but a visor seemed to work well.

As far as WDW, DD seemed to have the biggest problem with the sun at Animal Kingdom. It seemed like at the other parks, there were more areas to easily get indoors (like shows and stores and such).

I think I have tried every thing to shade DS! we are regular visitors to the WDW parks and I have learned to just go with the floppy hat and sunscreen. I agree that AK is difficult to find shade in. a few years ago I did not pay enough attention to reapplying sunscreen to the top of DS's legs as he sat in his chair and he ended up with awful sunbun between the end of his shorts and his knees. He also has Autism so we had a massive meltdown when he couldn't express how miserable he was! I now make sure to put him in longer shorts and use lots of sunscreen.
