Mannequins - Watch your stuff!!

Hey, all!!!

Mannequins is one of my favorite clubs at PI along with Adventure Club. We went to PI for our Anniversary and saw an earlier show at Adventure Club, danced a bit a Mannequins, went to the Irish pub for a drink and bought some souvenirs, and then went back to Aventure Club for the Hoopla!!! Hoopla!! And we ended the night with Mannequins before heading back to our hotel. It was awesome!!!

I did notice quite a bit of gay men when we went to Mannequins the first time, but it was still a bit early. We danced and the later it got I noticed we and another couple were the only man and woman couple on the dance floor. It was no big deal, becuase my best friend is gay, so I don't have a problem with it, but I was just wondering if Mannequins was an all gay club now or just that one night.

Afterwards, we went to the Irish pub, so I could buy some souvenirs for my neighbors who checked our mail. And then over to Aventure Club for the Hoopla. I didn't bring my purse, becuase my DH carried License, so all I had was the bag with my souvenirs and sunglasses. We went back to Mannequins, and the place was swarming with gay men making out and kissing all over the place. We didn't care and still went out to dance one last time before heading home. I set my bag down in a corner (really hidden), becuase I knew we were only going to be there for 5-10 minutes. It's my favorite club, so I just wanted to make one turn around the dance floor. Not even five minutes, and I looked over and my bag was gone!! I was soo upset mainly at myself for being so stupid. I thought that with all the men too busy kissing and making out and the rest either too smashed to care, that my bag would be okay for five minutes. Boy, was I wrong!!! I looked all over steaming like a demon!

I finally spotted my bag on the stairs, so I ran to it...I grabbed my bag, and it was completely empty...all my stuff gone!! My souvenirs gone and our sunglasses gone! I was soo upset...I cried all the way back to our hotel that night. I know it was my fault for leaving my bag, but it was nothing of importance or value in the bag...and it is Disney!!!

Oh, well....live and learn...my very first experience from someone stealing from me, and in my favorite place on earth and my favorite PI club!!

Anyways, sorry to be a bumer girl, but I just wanted to spread the word...trust no one!!! No matter if you think people are either too busy with someone else or too smashed...there is always that one person who is out there to take advantage unfortunately. I know someone had to have seen me drop the bag there, becuase it was really hidden and there for less than five minutes. So, ALWAYS watch your stuff!

Sorry you lost your stuff! We've all done stupid things - don't feel too badly...you're certainly not the first person to have something stolen from them at WDW. You learned the unfortunate lesson that, no matter how much WDW is marketed as a wonderland, it's still part of the real world and you need to look out for yourself & your belongings there just as you would anywhere else.

I have some co-workers who are gay and love Disney and from what I hear the first week of June is unofficial Gay Days at Disney so there probably would be quite a few Gays at Disney even last week.However I've always heard that Mannequin's does draw quite a few Gays any time of the year.Never been to Mannequin's but it's just what I've heard.

Well this is a problem with PI in all and thats why all the changes are going on to make it more Family friendly.

I'm not talking about the gay influence I'm talking about the theft and other crimenal element thats been a problem.

Being from the NYC area, I cringed when you said you put your bag down. That's a no-no around here! I'm sorry you lost your things but, like you said, at least it wasn't anything too important. Lesson learned!

This is a good lesson learned - never leave your purchases unattended - even in Disney World!

That's too bad about your stuff. Mannequin's is my favorite club at PI. DH and I love the music, the rotating dance floor, and especially the people-watching. Every time we've been there (every year for the last 5 years), it has been a mostly gay male crowd. Which is fine, because it is SO much fun to watch all the cute guys scope each other out! It's a real hoot, even my DH cracks up. I don't think it's advertised as a "gay" club, but that seems to be the majority there. It's all good!

Thats the entire problem with places like that .

The criminals know most tourist are going in there with doe eyes and jaw open .Not paying any real attention to what really going on around them.

This makes for easy pray of not only items left unattended but pickpockets as well.

Living in the city (maybe worse the NY ) I can't beleive the stuff I see at Disney in a whole pocketbooks left on stroller bags ,souvies just left in plane sight while people are on rides.

I guess I wished in a way that I didn't have to care about it but while on vacation instead of every day.If it's not nailed or locked down here it's gone.

sorry to hear it. I either don't take a bag or i never set it down. Especially in a night club. Sorry though! I always watch my stuff even more on vacation, theives are everywhere.

WDW just has a large gay population anyways. PI has a cast member night- I know it used to be Thursdays when I worked there 10 years ago (on the college program), heck, my roommate was gay and two of the 6 guys across the hall were gay, and disney employs a large gay population, so that isn't uncommon to see that there.

tmt martins - Good point. I guess we all tend to have our head in the clouds when we're at Disney! As for me, I am a paranoid freak, so I don't leave anything out of my sight. I once set a camera down in a bar, turned around for 5 seconds, and whoosh...vanished. Luckily, I got it back! Lesson learned.
