Maneuvering an ECV in the parks?

Walker Mobility advertise that their scooters are water resistant. There is also an attachment called a charging harness that can be rented with the scooter to charge the batteries without the whole scooter being taken into the room. We leave our scooter in the car and take only the batteries into the room.

ITA - We always rent from Walker. They have extended range (meaning they go longer without charging) heavy duty (for the Pooh sized) that break down and fit nicely in the car. We almost always stay off site and get a charging harness. The one tip I can give you if you do this - ask for a room near the elevator or wherever the luggage carts are stored.

Why?

Because the batteries are heavy (especially in the extended range/heavy duty scooters). What we do is when we park, I hop out of the car and go get a luggage cart. We then load the batteries on the cart and wheel it to the room (and of course immediately return the cart to be polite)

The other tip I would tell you - make sure you have an extra poncho. While the "Shower cap" may protect the tiller, you will most likely have stuff in the basket of the scooter. (DH tends to be our sherpa on vacation. He rides his trusty steed and carries my packages and sometimes my purse). If it does start raining, you can cover your precious stuff that's in the basket with the extra poncho.

On The Great Movie Ride the HA vehicle is pretty tricky to navigate, so if you can walk a bit it would be best to park it at the ride vehicle and walks a few steps to get on.

For buses, watch the ramp! You've got to go on and off perfectly straight or you risk having a wheel fall off the edge.

Practice turning, backing up, turning while backing up, etc, before you get to the parks.

Totally agree. I had the Pride 10, and the two batteries weighed a ton. It was hard enough lifting them up into the trunk - there was no way we'd have been able to manhandle them back to our room from the car park. And I chose our room for it's nearness to the food hall, not necessarily the car park!

Also, sometimes we used the car, and sometimes we took the bus. So in our case, keeping the scooter in the car would not have been a good idea. And that's apart from the point that I have arthritis in both knees, was in considerable pain from mid-December until nearly March and wasn't enjoying any sort of walking at all, so needed that ride back from the car or bus to the room.

I have seen proper scooter capes - cover you from the front wheel right over the console and your arms, and even cover your back and the seat itself. The problem I found with the Disney poncho (and most others for that matter) is that they don't have sleeves, and if it's raining then your arms are going to get soaked.

I just got back and, because I waited too long to book, I had a GO GO Sport from Buena Vista.
I loved it even better than the standard scooter I had in July.

It turns on a dime, charge lasted all day. I mean, 10 hours of running all over Epcot and MK on Saturday.
